I know there's no room for him, but I think Deco could be great for Chelsea. With Lampard and Essien in midfield, with Makalele as backup, there's not much creativity coming from midfield.
Lampard is creative. Isn't a great dribbler, but has brilliant version and can do one touch passes and great long passes.

Wouldn't Deco cost a friggin' fortune? Also, who did Barca buy to replace him?

Ah, excellent.

I didn't get see see any Reading games last season when he was in the lineup. Highlights of him look good though- seems to have a good work ethic, etc.

I saw an interview with him the other day and he seems like a down-to-earth guy too.

Hot wife.

Well they brought in Yaya Toure. He's not a Deco replacement, but he might be part of three in the middle with Xavi and Iniesta. Henry's joined too, so possibly there'll be a change of formation to only two in the middle, to accomodate Henry, Eto'o, Ronaldinho and Messi. And they always have youth players coming through.

I don't think Deco would cost that much, he will be 30 next month.

Hrm. I could see him going to Juventus, but they just signed Tiago and that CMF from Empoli - Almiron. Plus, Nedved is going to stay.

That's the thing - so many teams have made signings already that the timing of this, if Deco does want to be sold, would create an interesting market.

Like you said, I could see Spurs going after him.

But then again, I could also see smaller Spanish sides after him too -- They seem to be getting more and more funds lately.

P.S. I really don't rate Yaya Toure.

I wonder how Henry is liking Barcelona. I haven't seen any pictures of him in training with them. That piece of sh-...erm. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure I could think of something more worthwhile to do than watch GaLOLaxy get taken behind the woodshed... again. Like washing my hair.

Excellent. Maybe I'll watch a bit via that website if I have time tonight.

Seriously. Though this competition could grow into something fun in the next couple of years.

1.) The Galaxy didn't play that bad against Chelsea so who knows how they'll do today.
2.) Dallas is a fun team to watch, I expect them to put on a good show.

A Pachuca primer from a blog that I read....

Galaxy and Pachuca will meet today in their first-ever SuperLiga game. The Galaxy is a known commodity... well, the players are a known commodity - how they play from game to game is a mystery to many.

But some of our readers may not be as familiar with Pachuca, though. I'll try and get you guys up to speed on what I consider one of the three best clubs in the Western Hemisphere.

Pachuca hold the Mexican league title, the CONCACAF Champions Cup and Copa Sudamericana. That's unprecedented in Mexico. Additionally, only Toluca has enjoyed as much success as Pachuca over the last decade. Pachuca won promotion to the Mexican First Division in 1999 and beat Cruz Azul to win th Invierno 99 title. Many thought that was a fluke as Pachuca had never before won a league title, strange considering their 100-plus year history.

It wasn't a fluke; instead, it was a taste of what the next decade would hold. Pachuca captured the titles in Invierno 2001, Apertura 2003, Clausura 2006 and Clausura 2007. Perhaps more impressive, each of those championships were won with a different coach at the helm: Javier Aguirre won the first, then Alfredo Tena, Victor Manuel Vucetich, Jose Luis Trejo and Enrique Meza.

Players too have come and gone. Only Gabriel Caballero has been a part of all five championship sides. Miguel Calero, Andres Chitiva, Fausto Pinto and Jaime Correa have been key parts of several titles as well.

The Galaxy will face a deep and talented squad, but not flashy by any means. There aren't any headline-grabbing names that you'll find on America and Chivas. Calero's pretty solid in goal. He's been on four of Pachuca's championship sides.

On defense, Pinto is steady but Aquivaldo Mosquera is a beast. He had offers from France and turned them down to stay with Pachuca. Marvin Cabrera, Leobardo Lopez and Fernando Salazar offer quality on the backline as well.

Correa, Chitiva and Caballero are key parts of the midfield and with Damian Alvarez, Meza has plenty of options and weapons in the midfield. Alvarez and Caballero had four goals apiece last season while Chitiva chipped in with three. Caballero is your typical crafty veteran. He doesn't have much speed and is 37 years old, but he still produces and can still be dangerous.

Pachuca lost Luis Angel Landin to Morelia but brought in Luis Gabriel Rey to fill Landin's super-sub role. Rey is a proven goalscorer in Mexico as he had strong stints with Morelia and Atlante before joining Pachuca. Rey, though, is likely Pachuca's third-best option as Juan Carlos Cacho and Cristian "Chaco" Gimenez figure to be the starters. Cacho had 11 goals last season and was a key part of Mexico's Copa America squad. Gimenez had nine goals last year but he scores goals in bunches. Gimenez had a hat trick against Houston in a 5-2 win that eliminated the MLS club from the CONCACAF Champions Cup earlier this year.

Pachuca's the classiest side in the tournament but because they lack a name player and because they don't have millions of supporters like Chivas and America, they tend to be overlooked but all Pachuca does is win trophies. They're my pick to win the first ever SuperLiga tournament and any team they face will have their hands full.

Chelsea is a glorified pub team for a Russian criminal that got lucky. Pachuca swept everything in the best futbol league in North America. It's going to be murder!

Looks like they're streaming the Arsenal-Red Bull Salzburg match tomorrow. Check for hadareud in the crowd! From the RBS site:

It’s the Bulls versus the Gunners on Wednesday as Zickler takes aim past Lehmann, Kovac attempts to outperform Rosicky, Ochs tries to keep out Van Persie and Giovanni Trapattoni seeks to outwit Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal are one of Europe’s great clubs and will offer the Bulls the perfect test just days before the Austrian champions start their UEFA Champions League Qualification.

As a special service for all fans who are unable to make it to the sold-out Bulls Arena on Wednesday, Red Bull Salzburg versus Arsenal will be streamed live on our homepage, from 6:50 p.m. CET at http://www.redbulls.com/soccer/salzburg

We hope you enjoy the first of what we wish will be many dramatic European nights this season.

Pachuca is a fantastic team. A true joy to watch. If they're taking their A squad, Galaxy is getting raped

Also, :lol @Fire signing Wanchope. Believe me, they're going to be asking for his head soon. The guy is finished, his knees are busted and as of late, he has acted like a primadonna. He has left his last four teams way before his contract is over, because he has problems with the coaches.

What a disgraceful call by the ref. A clear handball that was instead counted as a goal to make Dallas lose 2 points. Dallas were the clear winners today as they played their asses off even when they were down a man. How unfortunate that Chivas walked away with a point. Even worse was the commentator still calling the Chivas "goal" a golazo when it was really a handball. That ref should be removed from any future duties in the tournament as far as I'm concerned. It's weird that I'm furious right now and my team isn't even playing.

After watching 2.5 halves of Superliga I'm sold on this tournament. Entertaining affairs, and these players aren't playing these games like they're exhibitions.

Liverpool have unveiled the new stadium. The stadium will look like the one that someone posted a picture of a while ago. Here are the recent images of what it will look like.

Not sure about it... but one thing I DO like is that it looks totally different from every other stadium out there. The previous design was basically Emirates Stadium plus a bit of Reebok Stadium thrown in.

Images viewable without a magnifying glass:

Thats a god awful 3d model for one thing, gradient fills on the ground? wtf? I thought these things were techincal drawings these days, this still looks like an artists impression. The stadium itself I like that they are trying to do something different..having one huge Kop stand is cool, it's a bit of a mess though.

What I DON'T like is how open it seems to be around the sides... looks a bit NFL-ish. But it's really different and distinctive. Parry made a lot of noise about the acoustics on the Kop too, which will only help on those great European nights... :-)

Thank the heavens the third jersey is passable.

There's no way I would have ever bought the abortion they call a home shirt or this unprovoked assault on innocent, well-meaning corneas everywhere.

Thanks for posting the bigger photo's ghost. I quite like the look of the stadium. Its a lot different to any of the other stadiums. Its going to have 60,000 seats, so that should make it the 4th largest stadium in england behind wembly, old trafford and emirates stadium, but I could be wrong about emirates stadium being bigger. Both have similar capacities.

There haven't been any exciting transfer rumors for the past week. Maybe that's a good thing since I'm an Arsenal supporter.

This season really needs to start ASAP.

I quite like that it looks a bit disjointed, I want as much variety in football stadiums as possible.

Can The Emirates be expanded? I can't find any information saying it can be. Right now Arsenal are in a great position, they might have a capacity quite a bit lower than Old Trafford, but thanks to being build from the ground up to be as cost effective as possible, they're right up there in the profitability stakes.

Liverpool though are building this 60,000 seater stadium themselves, no doubt also going for the maximum amount of profit, and it can be expanded to 75,000. Chelsea are inevitably going to move away from Stamford Bridge sooner or later, and they're certainly not going to let themselves be outdone on capacity. So where are Arsenal then?

Seems like we could have a scenario in 10 years time where Arsenal again have the lowest capacity and income from their stadium out of the top 4 (not that the top 4 will necessarily be the same in 10 years time). That is, unless The Emirates can expand.

In the next few years, England are going to be in a great position to host the world cup. Just look at all the stadiums we have. The ones that have more than a cpacity of 60,000 will be wembly, old trafford, emirates and liverpools stadium. Chelsea will probably move into a 60,000 seat stadium eventually. Then you've got other good stadiums like st james's park, stadium of light and city of manchester stadium, which all have capacities over 45,000.
