To win the next gen the allianz arena has to burn!

I will never forget this xD In the same game there was also another scene where he almost kicked down stephane chapuisat. Kung Fu style if you know what i mean ^^.

EDIT:

here it is!

I remember the game, it was quite funny.

Kahn did however lose all my credit when he went after Herzog after he made a defensive mistake. Herzog was my favourite player at the time.

I'm pretty surprised by how bad Arsenal played in the second half. I guess Koeman's tactic worked when he said that he wanted to play from the sides and not through the middle because that's Arsenal's weakness. This is going to be a tough match for Arsenal in two weeks.

Madrid...wtf. Good thing that van Nistelrooij scored :p

And Milan got soooo many chances but they failed to even score 1 goal. Celtic had some great chances too i think. MIlan will eventually win 2 weeks later.

Man united were very lucky with the free-kick. But the things that happened afterwards were pretty amusing:lol

8hrs and 15mins left till the, on paper, best match of this round. Can't wait:D

Lille's goal was rightly not counted. Why would vidic dive if he knew that there was a striker behind him. He would have cleared the ball, but he was pushed. There was nothing wrong with our goal either. The ref gave giggs the permission to take the free kick early. Giggs took advantage of lille taking time to sort out there wall and scored. Lille were very immature. They had no reason to walk off the pitch like they did.

PEPE: WE'RE NOT GOING FOR A BORE DRAW
Jimmy Rice 21 February 2007

Pepe Reina feels Liverpool's Champions League ambitions could rest on scoring an away goal in the Nou Camp.
The Spanish stopper knows the Reds must keep things tight in the away leg - but insists they have no intention of simply trying to stifle the Catalan giants.

"The obvious plan is to take a great result away from the Nou Camp and then let our fans do their part and inspire us to finish our job at Anfield," said Reina.

"Scoring an away goal or two is the biggest aim for us in the first leg because Barcelona are capable of scoring goals anywhere in the world.

"They will fancy themselves to score at Anfield so we can't rely on something like a 0-0 in the Nou Camp."

Meanwhile, Reina believes he and his teammates fancy their chances more now than when the draw was made.

"When the last 16 was drawn I admit that nobody in the Liverpool team wanted to face Barcelona.

"But now the game is here we are approaching the tie with lots of confidence, and we are dreaming of knocking a very large club out of the competition.

"This will be a hard tie but, in truth, I don't think Barcelona are playing football at the same level as they were last season. I don't feel we have anything to be afraid of."

Looks like we're in for a good match.

It would be brilliant for Liverpool if they could win, but I dont see it happening. Barca may have a few problems at the moment; they are not at their best, but I cant see Liverpool scoring at the nou camp. I reckon barca will win either 1-0 or 2-0. However if Liverpool do get just one goal against barca, even if they do let in one or two, then Liverpool have a very big chance of going through to the quarter finals. Liverpool are very tough to score against at anfield and even barca will find it hard to do so.

beckham has been saying that he wants an england call-up. I feel sorry for him because he already deserves to be in the squad. Maybe he isnt required for the first team, but i cant stand seeing players like downing and richardson getting into the squand whilst Beckham isnt left out; that isnt fair on him at all. Backham is a victim of his own success; all the publicity he gets makes people think that he's a celebrity and not a football player, yet half the time bweckham looks like the hungriest player in the team. Beckham might not be as good as rooney or gerrard, but he works just as hard as both of them. I dont understand how he got ropped from the squad after the world cup. if it wasnt for him we wouldnt have done half as well. He got the cross that set up the own goal against paraguay, he set up crouch against T&T and he scored the only goal against equador.

btw, the ref that did the lille-man game is regarded as a horrible ref in the netherlands.
Maybe he is a bad ref, but last night he didnt do much wrong. The only criticism of the ref is that he gave out yellow cvards too easily. he gave players a yellow card when they commited their first foul, even though the foul wasnt that bad. His decisions regarding the goals were spot on. I'll admit that if United had been disallowed the goal and lille scored the free kick I would be pissed off, but Id cool down and realise that the ref made the right decisions,

Lille are a disgrace I'm astounded.

First of all the deliberate choice of a crappy stadium with horrible pitch over the Stade de France. Then they fail to open enough seats for the Utd fans and the police start attacking the fans who try to complain about it. Use of tear gas even affected Van der Sar for most of the first half!

Then you have the walking off incident. What a bunch of schoolboys. That riled up the fans in what was already a hostile atmosphere and there could have easily been riots afterwards. They made it into a dangerous situation.

and now they have come out calling Man Utd unsportsmanlike, criticised Ferguson and filed a complaint to UEFA about the referee - er hello! there are bigger issues here!

Hate those guys with their dirty play. Last season Giggs had his cheek fractured deliberately by that team and they foul you all game. Then they cry when someone outsmarts them. :lol read the rules you Lille idiots, as soon as the ref walks away the ball is live. the only time the attacking team waits is if they ask the ref to count out 10 yards.

Rooney had a great chance in the box but the defender literally wrestled him to the ground without any thought for the ball - interfering with his shot. That would be the Rooney penalty someone failed to spot *roll eyes*

McClaren says Beckham's form is a problem. A welcome problem, but a problem.

How is it a problem? Where's the problem? If his form is better than other players in his position(s), he gets in the squad and they don't. If his form is good but still not better than others, he doesn't. It's not like there's some sort of Rooney-like talent on the right or centre of midfield, where you might take them even if their form is bad because the gamble's worth it if they can play at their best.

Of course, I've seen McClaren talk about the great form of James and Campbell this season and come next squad there's still no sign of them, so I wouldn't hold out hope on this one either.

I'm looking forwards to seeing what team Benitez puts out against Barca tonight. I figure Crouch will be one of the forwards, but who knows who else? Normally I would say you should attack Barca down the wings, particularly if you have a tall man in the middle, but I'm not so sure anymore. I've seen both Chelsea and Milan do really well against them playing almost entirely down the middle of the pitch, and Liverpool are probably weakest in wide midfield positions anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a 3 man central midfield of Gerrard, Alonso and Sissoko, with Crouch up front, Bellamy sort of right wing/up front and someone else on the left. We'll see, I've never been able to guess Benitez's tactics like I have with other teams.

Why would you attack barca using wing players? They've got very good side backs, so it would be difficult to play against them. Its always best to attack through the middle against them. Barca tend to play a 4-3-3 with ronaldinho and messi being the attacking wingers. They have three in midfield, so if you play a chelsea or milan style formation where you have 4 central midfielders, then you;ve got a better chance of hurting Barca because they only have 3 central midfielders.

Eto'o is out of the squad today. No reason has been said but its most likely because of the internal problems. I wonder how barca will play without him. Will they go for a 4-4-2 so that deco and xavi are in central mid, ronaldinho and messi are wingers and savialo and gudjohnsen upfront or will they swap gudjohnsen or sqaviola directly with eto'o and stick to a 4-3-3? Saviloa and gudjohnsen are not really suited to playing as a lone striker; they would benefit by playing alongside each other.

what do you guys think about Gerrard btw? Its becoming apparent that his ability in central midfield is compromised what with Benitez refusing to play him in the middle. His displays for England are also abysmal, failing to pass and move adequately.

Very strange.

Benitez has been playing Gerrard in the center since the beginning of December, I wouldn't say that's what compromised Gerrard's performance for England as they all have been playing pretty cack for England.

Because Barca's attacking wingers basically refuse to track back. That can leave opposition wingers at worst one on one with the full backs and, if they're willing to risk they're willing to risk leaving their position with Ronaldinho up there, two on one with their own full back overlapping.

Chelsea used to play 4-3-3, but as soon as the other team got the ball it became a 4-5-1. Barca just stay in a 4-3-3 regardless, so it leaves them exposed.

Liverpool don't have 4 high enough quality central midfielders in their squad to play like Milan anyway, in my view. Not unless Carragher moves up the pitch and Agger and Hyppia play at the back.

bringing Mascherano in is hardly a vote of confidence though.

England's problems stem from Lampard and Gerrard failing to string together passes and the whole thing breaks down from there.

He seems to have fallen into a rut and his status as one of the worlds top central mids is being questioned, some even written him off.

I expect Xavi and/or Iniesta will teach him a lesson in how to be a good midfielder.

Gerrard's goalscoring could improve, it's nothing on what it was, but I can't say I've noticed people complaining about him much.

I know, that's the exact same thing I thought this morning when I saw that I had over 400 posts in this thread. Ah well, at least now I know why my girlfriend calls me a nerd.

As Mama Smurf says, he's goalscoring and shooting has took a bit of a hit, but his quality and leadership qualities are still there for Liverpool.

God I'm nervous about the match... let's get it over with.

Got a chance to watch the PSV-Arsenal game last night. Arsenal looked the better squad in the first half, but that isn't really saying much. They had problems in the final 3rd, Rosicky's shot was cleared off the line, and overall they just looked very tired. 2nd half was pretty even - Henry had a couple speculative shots from outside the box and Fabregas was well saved. Meh - I guess it's advantage to PSV at this point, but there's still another match to play at the Emirates. Hopefully Arsenal can get their act together before then - they've looked tired and uninspired the last few matches. There's plenty of opportunities to make up for it with the Carling Cup final this weekend, a league match against Reading, and the FA Cup tie against Blackburn soon. The fixture congestion continues....

Oh my god I am absolutely bricking it now..... Not felt this nervous for a game since the derby... Need something to calm my nerves, no alcohol at home :(

SSN report that Mascherano may indeed start for Liverpool.

I didn't realise Mascherano was with the squad, the BBC said:

Liverpool (from): Reina, Finnan, Agger, Hyypia, Carragher, Riise, Aurelio, Pennant, Gerrard, Sissoko, Alonso, Zenden, Bellamy, Crouch, Kuyt, Fowler, Gonzalez, Arbeloa, Dudek

If Mascherano's starting, the 4 central midfielder thing is far more likely.

Citibank has offered the LA Galaxy a 5yr/$49 million deal for a jersey sponsorship. If it goes through, that practically pays for Beckham's entire contract. Pretty impressive and I wasn't expecting such a big number for an MLS team, Becks or no Becks.

Liverpool team:

Alvaro Arbeloa will make his first start for Liverpool against Barcelona in tonight's Champions League last sixteen first leg tie.
The recent signing from Deportivo La Coruna has been named in Rafa Benitez's starting eleven for big clash in the Nou Camp.

Team in full: Reina, Arbeloa, Riise, Agger, Carragher, Finnan, Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko, Kuyt, Bellamy. Subs - Dudek, Hyypia, Pennant, Crouch, Gonzalez, Mascherano, Zenden.

Liverpool line up:

Reina, Arbeloa, Riise, Agger, Carragher, Finnan, Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko, Kuyt, Bellamy

See, I said I can never predict what Benitez is going to do. Crouch isn't in and I don't even know who Arbeloa is.

EDIT:

Because Lakitu beat me to it, I'm supporting Barcelona.

Is it a 5-3-2? I haven't seen one of those in a long time:

---------------------------Reina---------------------------

--------Arbeloa--------Carragher---------Agger--------

Finnan------------------------------------------------Riise

-------------Gerrard----Sissoko----Alonso--------------

-------------------Bellamy------Kuyt---------------------

?

EDIT: I guess it could be Carragher in midfield like I wondered with Arbeloa and Agger at centre back.

The Guardian says...

Guardian Live Match Tracker said:
Liverpool (9-0-1): 25-Pepe Reina; 2-Alvaro Arbeloa, 3-Steve Finnan, 23-Jamie Carragher, 5-Danny Agger, 6-John-Arne Riise; 22-Momo Sissoko, 14-Xabi Alonso, 8-Steven Gerrard; 18-Dirk Kuyt, 17-Craig Bellamy

EDIT: So I guess it's just Bellamy and his golf club alone up top... :D

Hah, I can't stand some site's quirkiness, mainly BBC's, but The Guardian seems to get it spot on.

Goddamn you ;( Now I have no choice but to support Bayern Leverkusen tomorrow...

Good point.

He's big, he's red, his feet stick out the bed, Peter Croooouch, Peter Croooouch!

The BBC seem to be suggesting this is the formation:

-------------------------Reina-----------------------

Arbeloa-----Carragher-------Agger----------Riise

Finnan----Gerrard----Sissoko---Alonso---Bellamy

--------------------------Kuyt------------------------

...weird.
