Really sad, Barça fans are a piece of shit.

It's the same everywhere though, whenever a team is successful it gains lots and lots of fans who didn't give a shit previously, which is great until things turn bad because those fans don't have the perspective to realise these things always happen and are never the fault of one player.

Similar to Arsenal now, if you look hard enough you can find the Arsenal fans who only started supporting them when they became cool, they are the same fans who think they should buy back Henry and get Mourinho as manager.

yeah, that sounds true. Doesn't sound at all like an agent trying to get a better deal for his client.
But if there is any truth to it, then aquilani would be a brilliant buy. Its rumoured you;d get him for 12 million pounds, but that sounds a bit too cheap.

Well, Arsenal fans did boo their team after the second 1-1 draw at the Emirates - a real low point of the season for any fan of the game - but Barcelona topped that by booing Giovanni! Who The F boos an 18 yr old (Boca, São Paolo, River)? It's not like he made a blunder and gifted a winner to Madrid in a derbi; his only fault was not following through on the promise of preseason and stepping into the shoes of Ronaldinho. Even Messi didn't do that, and you don't hear them booing Bojan either. It's silly season up in Catalonia.

Edit: I understand Deco and maybe Eto'o too but why dos Santos?
(just saw your edit) well ya, Barca fans are hardcore like that. Remember after the first leg against Man Utd and some people were wondering why Henry didn't come on earlier, maybe even for Messi? I could only shake my head and imagine the riot on Rijkaard's hands if he replaced Messi with anybody but Bojan :lol

Holy fuck you don't even know what the hell you are talking about :lol

Barça fans booed Eto and Deco because they obviously forced their fifth yellow card against Valencia when Barça was up to 3-0, so they could skip their next match against REAL MADRID. If you have any idea about what that means for anyone living in Catalonia you should understand, but I guess you dont even care, so shut up.
On the other hand, everyone here blames Rijkaard, and to a lesser degree Laporta for the actual situation. But even so, last week Nou Camp clapped, sang and cheered Rijkaard so he could have a nice goodbye.

About Dos Santos, yeah, it's hard to understand. He started being booed because Rijkaard would put him instead of Bojan, and everyone at Camp Barça loves Bojan. Silly, I know, but add that to Dos Santos inability to make good choices in his game flow this season and that's what you get. Again, it's something that would only be fully understood if you lived here.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world.

But Messi still has bags of potential to realise, and is the better player than Ronaldo was at his age.
If I could choose to swap ronaldo for messi, I'd have to seriously consider it.

I dont watch messi enough, but against us he was fucking amazing in both legs and what makes it even more impressive was that he just came back from injury.

At the moment ronaldo is probably the better player, but in a couple of years time it wouldnt be a surprised if messi becomes better.

Uh, Deco has said in an interview that he didn't force the yellow card, and whoever says that is full of shit.

I mean why would he? Hun? What would be the point. Barça fans have their heads so deep in their asses that they don't even realize it.

But whatever. I still remember how Figo was to blame when it was Barça that accepted the 60 million euros, and it was Barça that didn't want to pay Figo more than they did, and Figo was making less than other players at the club at the time. And Figo was only the biggest player at Barça.

Tbh it makes sense for him, less media attention and somewhere to try and rebuild his reputation without the mouth breathers on his shoulder. Possible champions league run as well.

The Good, The Bad, The Coyote Ugly
Wrapping up Week 8.....

THE GOOD

*Edson Buddle's hat trick.
*Marcelo Gallardo's change of direction and well-placed goal.
*TFC Coach John Carver, on Columbus's tactics: "They've come to spoil the game. They've come to take their time. They've come to fall over and dive all over the park, and I think that's what they did. Any team to go six wins out of seven and have a game plan like that surprises me a little bit."
*Carver, on being lectured by the fourth official: "They want me to sit down in the dugout with me arms folded and me legs crossed and just be a nice little boy. Well, no ... I'm a passionate guy ... and if that is taken away from me, then it's not worth me being here and being a part of this. But I'm not going to let them win, that's for sure."
*Defender Jimmy Conrad's team-leading third goal, all off set pieces from Carlos Marinelli, for Kansas City, which has won only twice at New York in 17 tries.
*Dallas drawing more than 22,000 and all six weekend games attracting at least 13,000.
*Kheli Dube's first career goal, six minutes into his first start for New England.
*Chivas USA's first-ever victory over DCU and first-ever comeback victory.
*Toronto 2-0-2 at home with one goal allowed, and a five-game unbeaten streak heading into two meetings with D.C. United this week.
*Chivas winning despite the absence of nine injured players, including six defenders.
*Jorge Flores, who earned a roster spot during an open tryout last year, scoring his first career goal.
*David Beckham's cross to Buddle to complete the hat trick.
*Columbus's six-game unbeaten streak.
*Danleigh Borman's second goal in a week for New York and second amusing goal celebration in a week.
*Bobby Boswell's first goal since 2006 and Houston's second straight win after two losses and a tie.
*TFC captain Jim Brennan, on Michael Wilbon's condemnation of streamers being thrown during corner kicks: "I saw the PTI guy talking and all that, and he talks out of his ass anyways. You know it's part of the game. They do it all over the world and down there [United States] they complain because they watch their sports and they sit in the stands and really don't do much."
*Hollywood United, an amateur team led by TV star Anthony LaPaglia, qualifying for the U.S. Open Cup.

THE BAD

*DCU's six goals conceded in the final 15 minutes of games.
*San Jose shut out for the sixth time in eight matches. (Although James Riley put the ball into the net Saturday -- his own. And it was awful.)
*Dallas's atrocious defending on Buddle's first goal, in which he beat four passive defenders.
*Chicago just 2-2 at home while 3-0-1 on the road.

THE COYOTE UGLY

*Adrian Serioux's brutal sideline tackle (and red card) on Beckham, who waves bye-bye to the Dallas midfielder.
*DCU's late collapse.
*Riley's own goal.
*Red cards to New York's Dave Van Den Bergh and Coach Juan Carlos Osorio.
*Ricardo Clark's twice-deflected shot for Houston's first goal.
*Dallas Coach Steve Morrow: "It was an embarrassing performance. We're all ashamed of ourselves in the locker room and, ultimately, I'll take responsibility for that as a coach. But, obviously, we're going through a rough time at the moment."

Week 8 Spotlight
from Sideline Views by L.B.
Top Players

G: Will Hesmer Kevin Hartman, vintage Gato versus NY
D: Bobby Boswell Jimmy Conrad
D: Tyrone Marshall
D: Chris Klein
M: David Beckham
M: Steve Ralston
M: Danleigh Borman
M: Sacha Kljestan
M: Herculez Gomez
F: Atiba Harris
F: Edson Buddle

Coach: Fernando Clavijo. Former Galaxy star Herculez Gomez has desire and skill; Clavijo finally noticed, and the Rapids were the beneficiaries.

Top player: Sacha "Karate Kid" Kljestan, for his game-winner and subsequent assist and carrying the load in an historic come-from-behind win.

Edson Buddle - Can't deny the hat trick - and he could have had a fourth if not for a quality save from Sala.

Top goal: Edson Buddle's first goal. He muscled through the heart of FC Dallas' defense and buried the ball in the back of the net.

Top save: Pick your choice of Kevin Hartman saves. Mine is his reaction save off of a Juan Pablo Angel shot midway through the second half.

Best game: Dallas/LA - It might not be sexy, but when a 4-1 lead doesn't feel safe, a Galaxy game certainly isn't boring.

LOWLIGHTS

James Riley. A momentary mental lapse forced Riley to forget that he does not play for New England any more, but only realized that until the ball hit the back of the net.

John Carver and Guillermo Barros Schellotto should strike a deal - GBS can roll around for as long as it takes to clear away TFC streamers on corners. GBS doesn't like streamers, Carver doesn't like theatrics, but both are apparently partial to their own drama.

Adrian Serioux. Down three goals, Serioux sees it fit to slide in on David Beckham from behind in a play that had red card written all over it. Fittingly, Serioux saw red.

Matias Mantilla trying to control the ball with his hand in his own box. MLS refs aren't so bad that they'll miss that.

DC United. Lack of heart, effort, desire, class... pretty much sums up United's night.

According to the director of Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte, Eduardo Maluf, Arsenal have officially shown interest in Marcelo Moreno and Cruzeiro expects them to bid for him soon.

Offers for him so far (rumored):

Werder Bremen - EUR 8,5 million (We have a pretty good chance to sign him)

AS Roma - EUR 8,0 million (Yeah right, because they play such exciting football they need another striker :lol )

Shakthar Donestk - EUR 7,0 million (Moreno isn't interested, Shaktar have stated that they will offer even more money to convince him, dickheads)

Tottenham - EUR 4,0 million (Come on, you can do better than that)

Newcastle - Undisclosed

Cruzeiro favours Shaktars offer with Bremen as a fall back option if Moreno can't be convinced.

Yeah, but I can't imagine Twente even coming close to the financial demands of McClaren. Also, though Twente have secured a spot in the CL qualifying, they will have slim chance reaching the CL itself. These are their possible opponents: Liverpool FC, FC Barcelona, Arsenal, Schalke'04, Juventus, Steaua Boekarest, Panathinaikos, Celtic or Glasgow Rangers, FC Basel, Olympiakos Piraeus, Fenerbahçe, Shakthar Donetsk, Anderlecht, Fiorentina and Spartak Moskou.

Some pretty hefty talk today of Mancini leaving Inter to take over at Chelsea while Grant moves back upstairs.

That'd be a strange one for me. He's lead Inter to 3 successive titles, and while he's been helped by the circumstances of some of the other teams, that's still very impressive. But he's yet to get past the quarter-finals of the CL, going out in the quarter-finals to Milan in 2005, the quarter-finals to Villarreal in 2006, the first knockout round to Valencia in 2007 and the first knckout round to Liverpool in 2008.

Now they haven't been very lucky with their draws, Italian, Spanish and English clubs, but all the same, he's 0/4.

Especially when you consider Rijkaard's availability. Sure, Barca have had a bad year, but that happens. They still made it to the CL semi-finals. They weren't even in the CL the season he took over (not his fault, he joined them after the season they finished 6th). He got them to second immediately, then won the title 2 years in a row and lost it last year but did finish equal on points with Madrid and had a far better goal difference, it just doesn't work that way in Spain (goes to games between, a draw and a loss, but wouldn't have been an issue if it was the Premiership). In the CL he was knockoed out first qualifying round the first two years (Liverpool and Chelsea) then won it and lost their semi to United this year of course.

Plus, he plays the sort of football Abramovich supposedly dreams of, and he'd be back working with Henk ten Cate, who was his assistant manager during all that success.

There are other choices, but of those two Rijkaard just seems so much more obvious.

Uh, Deco has said in an interview that he didn't force the yellow card, and whoever says that is full of shit.

I mean why would he? Hun? What would be the point. Barça fans have their heads so deep in their asses that they don't even realize it.

If you saw Deco and Eto's yellow cards, it's obvious they knew what they were doing; Eto hates Madrid, and Deco is just a twat.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11833_3532439,00.html

"I am telling you they miss it because they have five yellows - so they get suspended - and they said at the end of the game, both of them, that they didn't know they were one yellow from suspension.

"Now, when Frank Rijkaard was asked about it - before he knew what those two players had said - he said it's a shame, these things happen.

"But then a journalist told him they (Deco and Eto'o) had said that actually they didn't know they were one yellow from suspension and he just turned round and said 'They're lying'."

Rijkaard freely admits they did it deliberately!

Chelsea getting a Seria A coach in seems a bit questionable given their shitty record against Premiership teams in the Champions League recently.

Speaking of Eto'o, I can't believe this is true:

Tottenham remain favourites to sign Samuel Eto'o after bidding £24m for the Barcelona striker - £8m more than AC and Inter Milan. (London Evening Standard, 1421 BST)

My first question mark is over the Milans' unwillingness to bid more than £16m. He's only just 27 and one of the best strikers in the world, it's not like they can't afford it.

Secondly, I can't believe Chelsea, at the very least, aren't bidding for him. They only have one actual good striker, Drogba, and he's always on the verge of leaving. Otherwise it's Nicolas "I can score for Bolton, but otherwise only 2 goals in 17 appearances" Anelka, Andriy "Are you sure you're allowed to run in football?" Shevchenko and Claudio "What did you expect for a free?" Pizarro.

Eto'o's scored 91 goals in 140 games for Barca. That's a goal every 1.54 games. That's an average of 24.7 goals if playing a full 38 game season. He didn't show up against United, but neither did anyone other than Messi or Toure. And he has scored against Premiership opposition before, Chelsea a couple of times and Arsenal, so we know he can do it.

So if he ends up at fucking Spurs of all places...these rumours can't be true, they just can't be.

Today's Bradley watch....

Verbeek said that Bradley won't be following him to Feyenoord or going to another Dutch club and that Mike is interested in EPL teams. Also, Lee Carsley was sold to Birmingham today which might open up some more space in the Everton midfield.

Milan aren't actually bidding if they refuse to go over 16 million. It just means their other targets are in the 15 million range and they're throwing Eto'o's name out there to see if he'll come on name alone. Isn't Chelsea linked with Villa or a lot of people?

Edit: isn't this on Barcelona? Has Drogba confirmed he was leaving Chelsea yet? One of his rumoured destinations is Milan. Is Barcelona just trying to release Eto'o to the first team that will give them a good value?

Again, you dont know or want to know what really happened. Figo was to blame, Real Madrid paid what's called here his "termination clause", if R.M paid 60m, it was up to Figo to move or stay.
He was always loved at Nou Camp and was one of the only icons Barcelona fans had atm. Nine days after he secretly signed with R.Madrid as part of Florentino Perez campaign, he appeared in the media saying all this:

I will not be a R.Madrid player. I'm a F.C Barcelona player and 24th I'll be with my team. I feel used by Real Madrid press, and everything they said is not true and against my will. My ilusion and desire, is to be at Camp Nou. Barça fans must believe and trust me, I'll keep running and give everything for our colors. I'm sorry if someone ever doubted me.
And finally something like "The love of Barça fans is priceless"
Next 24th he was sporting a R.Madrid shirt.

So yeah, keep typing whatever you want, but atleast get your facts right.

He's absolutely right...TFC played the Crew off the park, since Columbus had all the attacking intent of a French legionaire. Lucky for them we've got all the finishing quality of Derby County.

John Carver and Guillermo Barros Schellotto should strike a deal - GBS can roll around for as long as it takes to clear away TFC streamers on corners. GBS doesn't like streamers, Carver doesn't like theatrics, but both are apparently partial to their own drama.

:lol Can't argue this...then again most opponents actually like the streamers thing, so the fact that the Columbus Cunts don't is just fine with me.

Daily Liverpool Transfers Update #3 (I like to avoid Sundays because of all the bullshit headlines that appear on that day)

-Liverpool are interested in either Stewart Downing or James Milner, if the Gareth Barry deal falls through.
-However, there has been no update on the progress of the Gareth Barry deal. He has since been urged to join Liverpool. Take that Wes.
-According to Sunday papers, Liverpool will offer Portsmouth Crouch plus £7 million for Niko Kranjcar.
-Harry Kewell could leave to Portsmouth on a £50,000-a-week deal and Scott Carson could seal a switch to Aston Villa for £6 million. Fulham are also interested.
-David Bentley is NOT on Rafa's transfer list. :(
-Progress on Dossena is being made, as Rafa get's closer to getting his man.
-Apparently Liverpool are interested in Napoli's Marek Hamsik.

Please...when's Mama EVER been right?

Seriously, it's a bit of that...along with being a lot more tired lately, plus not having a lot to talk about now (I refuse to get embroiled in transfer speculation this year, 90% of it is just flat out bullshit), and this PC being so painfully old and slow at times that it makes replying to posts a bit of a chore.

I've been playing the 360 version of FIFA '08 lately, and I'm trying to like (mainly cause PES has pissed me off so much the last few years with it's piss weak progress and ridiculous scripting). The lag between control input and delivery is just painful at times. Didn't remember it being this bad in the PS3 version I played last year. If EA could sort that shit out, I'd probably swear allegiance to the series for the next year or two. Unless Konami shocks me and actually does something new for the first time in seven years.

:lol @ French squad BTW...good to see Dummy living up to his name.

thank you! It has something to do with HD. If you switch your video settings to SD, the lag isn't there. It's the same thing with the new PES. Play it on SD and the lag disappears. I think they're having trouble coding for that right now. Some developers at least.

PES will make massive improvements in the next version. Seabass said so. He knows that FIFA have made huge strides over the past few years. I think he even expanded his team for PES2009 so hopefully we'll see some new shit along with fixed lag and netcode.

The Cesc Fabregas show is very enjoyable h0pper.

In fact, it's so good I think I'll watch it a second time when they repeat it at 9.30 tonight.

Just thought I'd let you know.

I just hate your asses Barça fans.

Bunch of ungrateful people, pretending to be european All timers, when history for you people only started being written not so long ago.

And why is it that every goddamn new player, young player over there is always labeled as the next Maradona etc.

Cocky ass people, seriously. Catalunya overall is like that, bunch of cocky and borderline unpleasant people.

lol, it's not just their fans too. It's their management.

Did you hear when LaPorta (I think) said that Cesc is no longer welcome to return to Barca because he's turned them down too many times :lol

Not to mention what they did with Henry. They just feel like they're entitled the all the best players throughout the world. That's the vibe I get at least.

Er...I don't have a HDTV. :lol Just a regular ole' SDTV for me. Sometimes the game just has the player pass or shoot the ball far later then I wanted, and playing in the Arsenal style (passing the ball through three player's legs, barely missing their laces), it doesn't really help my game.

As for PES, I'll believe it when I see it. Wasn't the PS3 version of PES supposed to use a completely different engine to the previous 360 version, using up all 20 gigs of space on the Blu Ray and giving the series it's first major playing upgrade in years? How did that work out?

It's one reason why this era of gaming is the most disappointing since the overrated 32 bit era...there's just far too much talk, and little in the way of progress or substance. The fact that people celebrate when a game manages to hit 60fps is just a joke to me. Even the fucking Saturn ran a handful of games at that rate.

Speaking of gaming, I should also mention that I had a bit of fun chirping in the GT5 vs GRID thread earlier today, taking potshots at the most overrated racing series in the universe and riling up it's loyal defenders in the process. Thanks to my good work the thread finally got locked (ending with my post no less!), but not before two people had wished for both me and my mother to die. :lol

It takes a lot for me to even click on a thread on the gaming board (let alone post in one), but this thread was too good to pass up.

just flicked through the channels and they were showing Arse - Manyoo from 2003.

I had blocked this game out of my memory, Soskjaer you diving cheating prick. And then the bloody Surrey supporters have the audacity to sing "same old Arsenal, always cheating".

Fucking cunts.

Er...I don't have a HDTV. Just a regular ole' SDTV for me.

It takes a lot for me to even click on a thread on the gaming board (let alone post in one), but this thread was too good to pass up.

I'll agree with alot of that. But, there are some studios out there who really do put out some great games. Infinity Ward, Epic, VALVe, just to name a few.

It is hard nowadays though because alot of stuff has been done. On the other hand, sports games have no excuse in my opinion. It's not like they're writing a story line or creating an intriguing single player experience. Today, all focus should be on the gameplay first in sports games. With all the time they spend on them, you'd think they'd eliminate all bugs, lag, etc. But they don't. After that, multiplayer should be top priority. With Live and the PSNetwork and the growth of multiplayer gaming, I would assume coders would do everything in their power to perfecting netcode. Have you played PES2008 online? It's fucking unbearable. Probably the worst I've ever dealt with. If this was 7-8 years ago on the PS2 I'd get over it. There's no excuse for such terrible online lag.
