You can get sent off without intent, I thought it was dangerous, as in could ahve injured Evra, and that adds up to a red card.

we're at home, we've had all the possession and we're playing a team with 10 men! How are we not winning? I could go through a whole pack of cigarettes right now.

Seems like Scholes has been playing almost in a holding role and O'shea has been going forward.... wy not play Scholes up front...sigh it's winding down now.

Why are we not shooting outside the box more often? they've got their whole team in the box, its difficult to break it down.

What a joke. We've had 22 goal attempts, they've had 2. And now it looks like we start the season 2 points behind the rest of the big four.

Arsenal, chelsea and Liverpool all won, We've drawn are first game and rooney could be injured. This wasnt quite the start I expected....

Reading scraped that one...surprised really. I thought Man U would wear them down.

On the upside for Arsenal, none of the Top 4 had an easy game this weekend, but at least we kept 3 points when we might have had none.

Not a good way to start off our defense... Hanaman (sp) was playing out of his skin...Reading surley deserved that point...:(

Well done Reading...even if you did fuck up my betting...

Don't be too disheartened United fans, I think that's the best performance I've seen of a team this weekend, certainly the most dominant, and you were playing a good team. Created loads of chances, just came up against a top keeper playing the best game of his life. And even then I think if Rooney had been able to stay on second half you'd have won, no recognised forwards on the pitch is tough.

Fuck this shit.

Scholes was highly disappointing today. Tevez should have been put on the bench as a backup. And Nani had a few decent runs but most of his passes were shit.

I agree, Scholes did look a bit impotent. For god sake, Carrick had better attempts on goal than either Scholes or Nani!

Yay, I got one prediction nearly correct! lolol

My chelsea defence on premier league let me down seriously..... Toure didn't score for me (^^; )........ Ronaldo with no goals or assists....... Van Persie and Fabre were my star players today! lol

Yay Arsenal. =P

Its frustrating, but lets look at the posatives. We played very well, completely dominated the game and we did it without a centre forward for half the game. We should have still won, but there's 37 games to go. A lot can happen during that time.

The man of the match was carrick imo. he did really well. That was one of his best performances for United.

I think you might have to give it to Hahnemann...

It's interesting looking at the next few matches for the top 4:

Man Utd

A Portsmouth
A Man City
H Tottenham

Chelsea

A Reading
A Liverpool
H Portsmouth

Liverpool

H Chelsea
A Sunderland
H Derby

Arsenal

A Blackburn
H Man City
H Portsmouth

Look at Portsmouth the poor bastards. That doesn't even show that they have Liverpool right after the other 3 either.

My main point though is that, while United could get all 9 points because they're United, they could eaily drop points in each of those games. They could find themselves well at the back of the pack come September.

looking at those fixtures I am getting excited. Difficult game against Blackburn, but if we take the positives from today we should be able to win there too. Then 2 home games, not the easiest ones, but you'd expect Arsenal to win them.

Because Portsmouth fucked up against Derby, and they have a nasty match away to Bolton in between playing the top 4, they could go into the Blackburn match on the 22nd September (6 games gone) with only one point. In fact I don't think they have an "easy" game until early October away to Fulham.

What is it with american goalie's playing so well against United?

Oh that's nothing the goal keeper of the opposition against Liverpool at Anfield almost always gets Man of the Match even if they lose.

Hope that changes this season.

I'm really excited about this Premiership season. All the money that has been spent pre-season should make for some exciting games. I was really impressed with Man City yesterday, they're certainly a team to watch.

Also, with Setanta, Sky Sports and Premiership Plus, I will be in football heaven this season!

Edit: I really like Portsmouth, love Harry Redknapp, but their fixture list is ridiculous. They are going to really struggle for points at the start of the season, but I suppose every team has to play the big 4 at some point.

It was a good performance from united today. if we played the way we did in the second half during the whole game, then I'm sure we could have won. The first half wasnt bad, but we took our time and didnt create enough chances, whilst in the second half reading didnt get a break because we were constantly attacking. What also hurt us was the lack of a centre forward in the second half. During the second half I didnt really know who was playing up front, everyone was everywhere. Our lack of finishing and hahnemanns brilliant performance are the reasons we drew.

There's nothing to say about the defence or van der sar, they barely did anything. ferdinand played more like a midfielder than a defender today. he was going up all the time. Its not something he can do in every game, but he was given so much space so he had the license to come out of his own half. He's got good feet. He always looks very calm and composed.

The midfield didnt shoot outside the box enough. carrick had a shot in the first half and scholes had one in the second, but they should have been doing it more frequently. It was always going to be difficult getting into readings box because they had so many players in there. All our midfield can shoot from longe range and I thought they might have had more luck if they did shoot from longe range.

It would be a big boost if rooney isnt seriously injured and if tevez could start playing. If tevez and rooney do play, then we can push giggs onto the wing and let evra play at left back. He's done surprisingly well on the left wing, but its better to have a proper winger play there and let him move back into left back, where he plays better. Having silvestre at left back isnt good. He's dodgy and does provide anything going forward.

Well we should just put it behind us and concentrate on our upcoming games. I'm dreading the next three games. I thought that reading would have been the easiest team from our opening 5 fixtures. I'm pretty confident we can beat Portsmouth, but I'm worried about city. It looks like they've gelled a lot quicker than expected.

I'm guessing Tevez's debut will be brought forward to this Wednesday against Portsmouth. United don't really have any other strikers fit except for Dong...well, I don't know how bad Rooney's injury is, but apparently it's painful and swollen so I doubt he'll make it.

The only question is why Tevez was not on the bench. Only having 1 attacking player in the bench (and a winger only) cost us 2 points :(

Still need to praise the defense of Reading, they did the manager's order accurately and without serious error. If they can continue this performance, they at least should have similar result as last season.

Is Oshea the player playing most positions in EPL? He played as GK, central/right/left defender, central midfield, and forward tonight...

Just finished watching the Arsenal match. What a relief to end up with the win - it was looking like last season all over again for a while there. Still, conceding the first goal early isn't a habit that they should continue.

I would hope a mistake like Lehmann's isn't a habit either.

Yeah, seriously. It's crazy early in the morning and I'm excited to watch the new season, and suddenly Lehmann decides to miskick the ball off his other knee (how is that even possible?) and directly to Healy. Unbelievable.

Where are the pics hadareud?
