Yeah they re-invented it..and have not been making any notable progress either..nothing wrong with improving.
You're a moron, or you just haven't played GT games one after another through all those years.
Systems like ABS, ETS, TCS weren't even available in GT1, in GT2 there was ABS, then in GT3 driving model was improved by a huge margin, and GT4 even added to that, making drifting more realistic and fun, along with adding all the modern driving aids.
I agree, or rather tell you (you don't seem to have any clue) that there wasn't much progress between GT3 and GT4 in AI department, it's just as bad as it was all the time, I actually prefer GT1 AI. But that was mostly due to technical limitations, Polyphony wanted to make the best driving game, with the best graphics possible, and they did it. The driving model in GT4 is just amazing. We might enjoy different things in racing games, but when you compare powerful cars with rear drive (Skyline, Supra) in FORZA and GT, you will notice that FORZA, or any other racer doesn't have the realism and pure fun of getting around the corner, I can't even describe it.
Just so you know, I'm an enthusiast, I love most of racing games, but there are some that get more love. I put FORZA ahead of GT4, but when you try to downplay skills of Polyphony Digital, then I just can't let it slip through.
By the way, I don't expect GT5 to appear before Fall 2008, modelling so many cars, with such attention to detail will take them a long time.
