The Macbook Air's battery is non-removable. When it does need replacing you send it in and are only charged for the cost of the battery.

the number of people who would need a battery to last longer than that, and replace it for more juice can be counted on one hand. no need to build a design around those needs.

Man 7 hours on the higher performance graphics card is crazy. My 15" laptop is lucky to get 2.5 these days, and it's way less if I'm actually taking advantage of the card. (8600M GT)

Oh, okay. Well that's not to bad. I was thinking they would charge you more than just the battery if it was out of warranty or something. Still seems a bit inefficient to me if you needed more power and were not near a plug, but I guess it could be worse.
