So all the major record labels went DRM-free but the new pricing tier is $0.69, $0.99, and $1.29. If the labels are smart they will never use $1.29.

iTunes plus on the bottom of the quick links section.

-edit- Odd it's gone again lol

I was able to get into that, but wasn't that always there?

I thought it was there before, just with a small selection of available music..

Looking at my upgrade options it still seems small..

I don't own a laptop, how great is 8 hours of battery life on a 17in laptop? And does it outweigh the fact that it's nonremovable?
Let's see independent testing first...

they will. In the UK they've been pushing for 99p tracks. I guess we will get 59p, 79p and 99p

Just doing the math. 1000 recharges at 8 hours per charge = 8000 hours, divided by 24 hours in a day means you could run the new MacBook Pro for 333 days straight. Let's say you used it 8 hours a day that means 1000 days. Who cares if the battery lasts 5 years if you're going to burn it out in under 3!?
Jesus christ if true!

I'm disappointed. I had my credit card out and ready in anticipation of a new iMac. Bah.

chill out and watch the store later today. if they're just speed bumps, they might update the store without giving it an announcement.

the lack of a mac mini announcement is surprising, though

Right, so you're going to use it for 8 hours a day, every day ... on battery?

You guys make a good point. I was just crunching the numbers for fun. 8 hours of life is insane, and Apple is pretty accurate with their quotes.

All I wanted from this conference was DRM free music, and I got it. Sorry for everyone else.

I kinda wanted a 32 gig iPhone, but meh.

It's gone in the U.S. store and has been replaced with a simple "Upgrade My Library" link that takes you directly to all the songs in your purchase history that can be upgraded to DRM free 256kbps AAC.

What. your going to charge it up and use it 8 hours on battery every day? lol

This is definantly tech worth sitting back for and seeing how it plays out (the battery). I have never, ever had a device with a Li-on battery (I know this tech is different) that actually delivered what it says on the spec sheet. Give it 12 months and I really want to see how it fares, and how Apple handles the replacements. It looks to be a big step in the right direction though.

That's it? Are you shitting me?

I think this is all a move by Apple to say that rumors aren't true. I expected at least a new Mac Mini, I say the announce it in a month.

If you use the battery for only 2 hours and then recharge, doesn't that count against the # of charges.

Watch the 7 hours becomes 5 after a couple of months and then 3 by the end of the year. Batteries lose their capacity over time.

:| That's not there yet on my store.. Going to itunes plus shows me I can upgrade about a third of my collection, but I've a feeling that was how it was before too. Hopefully they're just switching over as we speak.

They said now 8 mil are DRM free and by the end of Q1 everything will be DRM free.

Since Apple and Macworld Expo are "divorcing" in a sense, it makes sense that they keep any bigger announcements to their own schedule and venues.

Shorter: This is Steve shitting on Macworld from a distance.

You haven't used a modern rechargeable battery in awhile huh?

You guys got your expectations far too high. I'm fairly pleased with all the stuff they announced, only hoping for a stealth Mac Mini bump. We'll see what's up when the store reopens.

Now he's singing San Francisco...

Wtf is this shit over or not! I want to rabble about no mac mini updates but don't want to pull the "bitchy fanboy" trigger just yet.
