That faces thing sounds cool.
[cough] In Picasa (both application and online) for some time [/cough]

I didn't know what available apps have it already, but it's not surprising some do. Where I used to work they did all kinds of stuff like that, and were building a photo organiser thing for mitsubishi..the research for it was ancient.

So yeah, that's kind old hat really..

edit - with the places stuff, this is like a carbon copy of the work a team in my research unit was doing :lol

The face tagging software is biased against the identical twin community.

Apple will singlehandedly ostracize those people, as non-twins will refuse to be friends with any twins, as to not ruin their iLife photo collection. DISGUSTING.

but now Apple are doing it so it's amazing and life changing.

Facebook and flickr integration with iPhoto kind of sounds a lot like the integration that Microsoft has with Live Gallery.

macrumorslive is making engadget their bitches. For such a big blog you would think that engadget would be a lot faster.

It's like they made this for me. I organise by places, some by faces, and a key to FlickR upload cuts out a few steps for me.

Loving it!

So will Facebook syncing work both ways? If I tag a face in iPhoto will it have that info when transmitted to Facebook, or is it just the other way around?

Read the blogs:

Facebook users can add names to people in your pics...that info gets transmitted back to your iPhoto.

I would love this. Makes more sense than iPod or iPhone for my purpose. Laptops are too big for me.

New iPhoto does indeed look cool. To bad my Mac died on me a few months ago. Why must they be so expensive....sigh. But awesome anyways.

An iPhone/iPod Touch update is all but certain now.

"Slideshows can be saved to iTunes and synced to iPhone and iPod touch"

There is currently no method of doing that with the current firmware.

Oh using face detection to make the zooms in slideshows is neat.

PS3 does something similar with its gallery modes..but hopefully Apple's implementation's a little better. PS3's is quite simple, just looking for two circular patterns that could reasonably be eyes...I remember someone sending me a photo with a plug socket in it, where the PS3 was mistaking it for a face because of its two holes.. :p

Does facebook allow people to tag your own photos? Or only the owner? Either way it is a good way to stop redundant work.

Didn't even know that. Never used that feature.
