Well, I haven't TOUCHED the majors yet. I have been playing RTTS all day (Played every inning that my pitcher has pitched...over 70)...anyways, I just had one of the most thrilling gaming experiences ever...

I am in AA and I almost threw a perfect *bleeping* game. I play on Hall of Fame, btw.

AHHHH...Bottom of the 7th, they keep showing the scoreboard and saying that there is something special about it (not jinxing it) and alway showing me walking around the mound after outs...

And then I walk a guy, and then another guy. Then I get a dude 0-2 and I *BLEEPING* BEAN HIM. I'm freaking out, my control is wild, all over the place. And then I strike out the last two guys to end the inning with bases loaded. I pumped my fist in real life! I'm freaking out!!! WHOA!!!!!

And then I come out in the bottom of the 8th, they are mentioning it, but not in a jinxing way, first guy grounds softly to first, he takes it himself. Next guy his a hard grounder right at the second basemen...he gets...STUCK IN AN ANIMATION!!! RIGHT THROUGH HIS LEGS!!! NO!!! NO!!! The audience (I was the away team) gives me a standing O and I raise my glove in acknowledgment as the commentators talk about how the crowd won't see history tonight.

Ah well, bear down...next guy...single up the middle. I'm at 110+ pitches, take me out coach! Next guy, single to left, they score a run.

Then the coach pulled me. I went 7.1, 3 H, 2 BB's, 1 ER, 1 R, and 7 K's.

Having just played the demo... I dunno. It's a gorgeous game, but the hitting feels so underpowered. I got one hit all game, a walk off homer to end the game. But I couldn't even see the homer! The game cut scened away from it instantly to show the batter celebrating!! ARGH!! The CPU I think got three hits. It was almost entirely a pitchers duel. Which was still fun, and I'm sure I can slider tweak the game into having more action, but I just don't get a good sense of being in control as a batter. I swing, the ball goes somewhere. Maybe this has a lot to do with the demo being in rookie mode.

I wish there was a 2K8 demo to compare. Can't make up my mind, and I don't want two baseball games.

Awesome. The game opened up with a "2007: Year of the Milestone" and showed Trevor Hoffman's 500th save.

I love the little details and the game OPENS UP with them. :D

There's 5-6 of them. First time I fired up the PSP version it showed Frank Thomas' 500th HR.

It might be your firewall or something. I played about 12 games online since friday, and I only had lag issues in 1 game. Either that or you're just having bad luck.
 
Finally got it! What is the deal with the free New Era cap? I enter my code into the site and it just keeps hanging...

What was your pitch count at? They routinely let me go into the 100's, I have gone as high as 120 and I don't know why they let me die out there.

How do you save midgame btw?

Whenever I go to QUIT, it just asks if I want to sim the rest?

yeah same here... I mean at first I was entering it wrong, cause its case sensitive, but then I did it right and it just keeps verifying the code... I tried it in IE and Firefox...

Well I guess I shouldn't try it in IE then. Thought maybe it was an issue with Firefox but I guess not. Kind of lame - really would have liked a free Braves cap. :)

The option is SAVE/QUIT on PSP at least...
 
and BTW...where does Sony get their scouting reports? How does Cole Hamels have a better curveball than changeup?! wtf are they smoking. His changeup bar is so low yet his curve fills the damn thing.

I'm just glad for the developers. They obviously put a lot of work into this year's release and deserve some recognition

I guess so. All I usually play is season/RTTS.

Just got my PS3 version, gonna check it out online later.

Hopefully someday we'll see 18 player online games. It'd fit really well, you could use your RTTS guy.

Started up my Red Sox franchise. Sox at A's. Good stuff. I gave up 2 early runs in the 3rd and couldn't get my offense going against Blanton until he 6th when Youk hit a 2 run blast to left and Ortiz followed it up with a HR to left of his own. :D Tacked on 3 more runs and shut the A's down for the rest of the game.

The commentary is so damn good. They have SO many lines and it's on the ball almost every single time with the action on the field.

I think the boys in San Diego forgot to turn on the big servers for this game. For those enjoying the excellence that is the offline game, don't even try to connect to SportsConnect or you will discover frustration in large mounds.
 
Reading about the widespread issues with the connectivty issues is pretty sucktacular. I got in a whole weekend of largely lagless gameplay, and now you fuckers converging on the game is ruining it for me!!!! ;)

Sick! I'm posting this from my new iMAC. I forgot to pick up the game today, though. Hopefully they iron out the network issues. This will be the first sports game in a long while that I put a lot of time into. I've probably played the demo about 20+ times now.

I've been hearing this on other forums as well...unacceptable

so i'm assuming the online is dedicated server-based and not P2P

I guess so. Zep and I had a decent game around 530 EST today but now we can't even log on. I am guessing that this has to be a server issue because he and I both have stellar internet connections.
 
Anyone else having some serious issues with the game? I just got home, popped it in and it hung on the "retrieving license agreement" screen. I quit out, went back in, and now it's fucking hanging at the Make sure you're PS3 is set to 720p resolution, press start. I FUCKING PRESSED START!

Jesus this is frustrating
