Had a hard time batting. The best way to practice is to play a quickgame with Fast Play on, and fast forwarding defensive innings.

After 2 games in a row of just hitting, I can read pitches better, including those 96mph fastballs.

This game feels so real is not even funny.
 
I would think the servers are being worked on...Says my account in already logged in and won't let me on. Besides that, Fausto Carmona is a animal in this. His sinker is something else.
 
finally got the game a couple hrs ago, this game is great only problem is the damn sportsconnect flaking out on me

same issue for me :/


First it was stuck on Press Start screen, quit then reentered in 720p mode and now waiting on Retrieving License Agreement

yep, same here. i can get past the press start screen every now and then, but it freezes in the menu. i *heard* that there was something wrong with the network; when i played earlier (which was incredibly smooth, mind you) i set the options to auto sign in, maybe that's interfering with something?
 
After one exhibition game, I am appeased, mostly.

The thing is, if the developer thinks the game is so shitty that no one is going to buy it so they don't worry about server capacity I kind of feel like a sucker for buying it. I would LOVE to start a franchise right now, play all f'ing night, and call in sick tomorrow. Problem is, servers are down so I would have to play the entire franchise mode with outdated rosters.

God damn it.

The problem is the game is trying to connect to the server before logging you into the main menu.

Once it figures out it can't connect it takes you to the menu screen. This is annoying as I couldn't figure out what the hell was going on at first.
 
Just finished my first game on HOF. Pitch guess off, of course. Turned that annoying yellow batter zone coverage crap off, too.

All seven of my runs came on dingers. No extra base hits other than the 3 HR. lawl @ 1 run on 12 hits for the Nats.

I'm still awful at getting around on high pitches and inside pitches.

How long does this take? I gave up after 10 minutes.
 
While these server issues have me in a griping mood, what the fuck is with the load times in this game? More precisely, why is there a 2 gig install if the loads are going to be over a minute long from menu to game? What exactly got installed?
 
i been stuck on Retrieving License Agreement for like 20mins now, think its doing something or try to restart? :/

I would love to start franchise mode, but like you, I would like to have updated rosters before starting it up. Hopefully, the online portion will run a bit smoother tomorrow.
 
Guys, get offline...The shit is down :lol I doubt the Licensing Agreement pops up when you are offline. If I'm wrong....then wtf at sony.

Holy shit. I got online AND downloaded a roster update. Sweet Christ, only took about an hour and a half.

Who ever said PC gaming is dead is a moron, it's just moved to consoles. Out of the box play is for n00bs
 
Awesome, got it working just in time to go to bed. Is there a list in the online forum of GAFers PSN names with this game? I know there is a thread for the league, but is there a separate one for those not in the league?

I dont see why you should... I am always connected with my PS3 and I have no issues... Perhaps you got a bad copy of the game...
 
Goddamn, my PS3 decided to auto-shutoff again. I moved it into my tv stand and the heat is too much for it. It starts filling the small cubby up with so much and then bam - you hear that sound, te-te-te and red light. :(

I was playing online and just ROBBED A HOME RUN from some guy. Guy golfed the fucker with Varitek and Francour brought that ball down Tyree style.

Guess I'll pick up a PS3 intercooler...awesome.
 
Do you still have to meet in a game lobby like past versions to add someone to your buddy list?
 
The game rocks.
Played 3 games so far.
First one: 7-3 Jays-Rays
Second one: 5-2 Sox-Jays
Third one: 2-1 Jays-Yanks in 10 innings.

Really fun game.

The online right now is bonk though.

For some reason, only sometimes does it go to the pitching cursor. Also the 2 games I played were relatively laggy. And 5 minutes of pause time is stupid.

Way too much lag.

I really hope they have a fix for it. Fucking remove all of the fans in the stands if you have to.
 
Just attempted a game online and it was laggy as fuck. I'm from NY and the guy I played was "GODBLESSPATS" so I'm assuming he was from MA. No excuse for the lag.
 
Glad I slept through the connection issues and all of the bitching. Sheesh. Give it a day or two after a product launch to bitch about online play. It's the same way with almost every online sports game out there (and non-sports game).

Well, with my paint fume induced heacache mostly gone (damn house painting), time for some more franchise play!
 
Me and Zep just played a game online.

What a tight game! It seemed like neither one of us could get a big hit with runners in scoring position. I squeaked out the game 3-2!

So the Best Buy near my office is apparently sold out according to their website. I know I'm definitely going to buy the game tomorrow (and have a gift card) but have never, ever used their in store pickup option.

Considering it appears to be sold out all over the place already, will using in-store pickup really guarantee me a copy if I place an order at a nearby store tonight for in-store pickup tomorrow? I'm kinda hesitant, cause I've never ever used it before.

I really want to start my season tomorrow night, but don't want to have my gift card money lost in the Best Buy system because some kid failed to pull my copy of the Show off the shelf tomorrow morning...
 
I played a random guy, the pitching was perfect for the most part, but I guess there was a slight hint of lag because I could not get my timing down to hit. :(

Struck out 11 with Carmona, he has some nasty shit. :D I lost though, 1-0 to a fucking inside the park homer cuz I jumped instead of diving. :| I should really read the manual, I have no clue how to advance runners, I've tried every button it seems like. :lol

I just played Cubs vs Astros, I took Zambrano deep with J.R. Towles, im not sure but that may be his first home run. So when he gets back to the dugout, everyone is on the bench ignoring him until he puts his arms out like "hey" and then everyone gets up and busts out laughing and high fiving. :lol

Although it seem the difficulty is different(much easier) from the demo, the game was 10 to 7, Oswalt vs Zambrano, that just doesnt happen!
 
I just played a perfvect lag-free game and lost 3-2. It was a great game filled with all kinds of drama. Seems like the server maintenance fixed whatever trhe problem was.

Yes, was an awesome game from my first where the guy just threw junk all game. Really the lag seems to only happen slightly in the fielding parts, gets a little jittery, solid all around though.

I was a little thrown off at first due to the left handed pitching meter, I had gotten used to Carmona. :lol

Anyone else up for a game? TJRamirez is my name.
 
Ok so is the music not supposed to work when your actually in playing a game? I cant seem to get it to work, i may be too tired to see it, but if not thats incredibly lame.
 
I need to learn some of the buttons lol, never played the show before (always played 2k series). Hopefully I can put up some offense sometime.
