Long time Bills fan, I'll chime in on Spikes for Eagles fans. Wrote this up for Soulja a while back, but it's still relevant today.

Before Takeo ruptured his achilles he was as good as they get. Could rush the passer, cover TE and even a slot receiver. He isn't the same player anymore. The year before the injury ('04), he led all Linebackers in pass breakups (16 IIRC), was tied for the lead with 5 interceptions, and returned two touchdowns. His tackling numbers weren't high, but that's more a testament to Fletcher than anyone else. All-Pro LB in '04.

Extremely physical and smart, but I don't know if he could ever be the physical force he once was. He strained his hamstring several times throughout the season, and wasn't really ready to play last season. I think he rushed to get back. Great leader and motivator as well.

Eagles got a hell of player if he gets back to form, I hope he does. My brother, who's a huge Giants fan has been worried about the Eagles getting him because he knows what this guy can do.

As FMT pointed out earlier, the Redskins are apparently allergic to draft picks. I wouldn't be suprised at all to see them move down to 31 and send some later round picks to Chi-town for Lance Briggs. He is a big name and you know D.Snyd likes big names.

If skins for some reason don't want Adams or Anderson they could always trade down in the draft and take Timmons or Willis, either of which I think will end up being better than Briggs.. But whatever, makes the NFC that much more easier for us.

Or maybe a agent used the Skins name to try and drive up demand for his man? No never, must be that skins are interested in every single FA out there. Just like the interest in Clements even though they didnt schedule him for a visit.

Giants were interested in Nate Clements and Rod Hood, though nether made a visit to NY.

All comes down to timing (and $$$).

pretty much what ive heard from all ppl who know and follow the bills.

at the very least it is a improvement over what we currently have and if he can regain form we might be in pretty good shape. still a part of me wonders if we went after him over say briggs solely cause we did not have to give up much. i mean if the redskins get briggs, someone they do not even really need, i will be pissed.

anyway as it is...i think we still need to draft a LB on the first day and depending on whos left on the board when our turn comes in the 1st round...maybe even go with a LB in the first round. LB and Safety...day 1...make it happen eagles.

it is 5 years, $28 million. we got a good deal :D

the niners tricked him. They told him it was for $82 million and because he's dyslexic, poor Frank didn't know any better. Frank's gonna be pissed when he finds out.

Bears not going to trade Briggs trade Washington.

Good. :)

Briggs isn't a free agent. He shouldn't act like a little bitch. If he has a beef who should take it up with the NFLPA who came up with the franchise tag agreement in the first place.

don't know what the signing bonus is, but frank and drew (his agent) had to have recognized that we held all the cards in this game. we could essentially have locked him up through 2009 without much effort and paying him minimum in those years. by that time he would be 30 years old. got to earn your money while you can bitch!

Look how dirty the Niners are. Your franchise is a joke!

it maybe a "modest" contract considering that joke willis mcgahee got a similar contract and he isn't even in gore's league, but the fact is that $14 mil of that 28 mil is guaranteed. gore needed to take care of himself and his family for sure. he was going to earn $600,000 this year and next. this gives him financial security no matter what. go nolan!

I think Gore and Rosenhaus realize this is a great deal, because he gets paid up front "initial signing bonus of $6.5 million," and if he continues to play well, I bet he re-negotiates for another deal in a couple years. Thank god we finally locked him up.

I'm glad we got Gore wrapped up. I do still think we need to get one more running back in the draft, though. God forbid Frank the Tank gets hurt we are SCREEWWED. And even beyond that we need a dependable goalline/short yardage guy who can also spell Gore and keep him fresh. I like Michael Bush as a steal in the 3rd or 4th round. We would be taking pretty much the exact same gamble on him as we did on Gore, in that he is a back with first round talent but will fall big time due to durability concerns caused from severe injuries in college. The 3rd round might be a stretch considering the second surgery he just had, but I'm sure that his old coach Bobby Petrino will select him with ATL's 4th or 5th round pick if someone else doesn't nab him by then.

I wouldn't have been shocked either and thats a sad thing to say. I had my doubts because Joe Gibbs said they're taking a different approach this year and thus far they have. They haven't over payed anyone. They got people they needed and not what they wanted. London and Smoot are serviceable guys who wanted to come here and came at a reasonable price. That is not like the Redskins at all.

However this Lance thing was classic Snyder and I"m glad that it ended up not going through.

The Skins are going to have someone drop down to them that other teams want. I hope that we can move back only 1-2 spots, get more picks and still get who we want. I think it's possible and this years draft should be interesting.

Another thing is that there's a rumor that Danny's "yes man" Vinny Cerrato and other "F/O" personnel are getting the boot soon. One can only hope.

I really am starting to question the Saints now. I think they did a great job in the offseason signing that Bengals safety (lets hope we can teach one of those kids how to tackle) but the Joe Horn release makes almost no sense. The money was not an issue. If it was about money, I'm sure that some of those deadbeat corners would've seen the exit first. Also, back when the Saints had the #1 offense in the league with Aaron Brooks at QB, Joe was the clear leader and voice of the team. And when Katrina hit... we all know he was the face of the entire organization. I mean, guys get hurt and no one can control... other than the broncos o-line, roy williams, and whoever decides to be on the cover of madden. I just can't believe they couldn't work out whatever issues their were and I really hope that this isn't a case where a new coaching staff comes in and starts tearing everything down just so they can call it their own creation entirely.

Jags, #26 out of 122 teams!

Bills.....not so high.
hard for me to complain as a sports fan when 3 of my 4 pro teams are in the top 18 :lol

this is a lot better than that idiotic "TOP GMs" list some magazine put out a few weeks ago that had Ken Holland of the Red Wings slightly above Matt Millen of the Lions. I mean, holy shit... Ken Holland is arguably the BEST general manager in pro sports right now. He's kept the Red Wings team together for over a decade now, constantly competing at the very highest level of hockey, and ever since the strike he's done it with actually breeding talent and not just buying the hottest FA out there. The new CBA ruined hockey teams that did that *cough* Colorado *cough* and the Red Wings survived. Second year in a row they're in the competition for the President's Trophy.

A bit of Panthers news: Panthers are changing their offensive line scheme from a power-blocking one to a zone blocking scheme. Fits our lineman and RBs better.

Also, Carr and Harrington are scheduled to visit in the next week or two; wouldn't mind having Carr as a backup/spot starter.

Uh oh Redskin fans, it looks like Jason Campbell may not bet the savior for your franchise as once thought....

1st it was Dre...
2nd it was Briggs
Now it's Jemarcus
A while back it was Calvin...

Seriously the media is spazzing out because they have absolutely jack to write about and my team who usually doing something idiotic at this point is playing their cards right. They're simply getting all the info on these guys because someone is bound to fall to them. They want to know what they have in their hands so they can try to NOT be on the short end of the stick during a trade for once.

Jason Campbell has time set up to meet with the WR's during the offseason and he's already working with Al Saunders as of 2 weeks ago.

Len doesn't even get breaking news anymore, he just steals it from other sources. He's been looking for something to write and here you go. Another BS piece.

Same here, I hope they give Carr a shot. In my eyes, Joey's had more than one chance to prove himself and really hasn't done it.

Bucs player hits pregnant woman in the face after listening to a Biggie song. Dick Cheney impressed!

TAMPA, Fla. -- Buccaneers running back Lionel Gates was arrested and charged with hitting a pregnant woman in the face and pushing her into a wall during an argument.

Gates kicked in the front door of Peggie Lavender's apartment Thursday night, destroyed two televisions and two doors, put a hole in the bedroom wall and assaulted her, a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office report said. He was arrested later at his apartment in the same complex
.

Gates was charged with burglary of a dwelling, aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and criminal mischief. A call to his lawyer, Ken Sarnoff, was not immediately returned. The team had no immediate comment.

"Charges such as those facing Lionel Gates are taken seriously by the Buccaneers organization," the team said in a statement Friday. "We plan to meet with Lionel as soon as possible after which we will deal with this matter appropriately."

Gates was signed by Tampa Bay in September after being released by Buffalo. He played in college at Louisville and was drafted by the Bills in 2005.

I haven't seen any mention of the tougher policy for players who run into trouble with the law in this topic. It's pretty interesting (and ironically Mike Brown and Marvin Lewis were among the supporters). I didn't know (or forgot) until recently that teams couldn't suspend/fine/do anything to a player who was in legal trouble until it was settled in court. Apparently the new rules are going to allow for teams to punish players before it gets to court, and the commish will look at stuff on a case-by-case basis. So maybe players who get involved in more serious shit (like Pacman tends to be) won't get treated on the same 1st offense stuff that someone gets for a DUI or possession of marijuana.

There are a few teams I want the Steelers to play for revenge.

The Ravens and Bengals are already locked in so there is no need to hope for anything there. But I want to see the Steelers play the Falcons, Pats, and Jags. The Falcons because they knocked Ben out again just when he was getting healthy and indirectly led to our embarassing defeat against the Raiders (which is what kept us out of the playoffs). The Pats because they are evil and now have Ben's kryptonite in AD, who must be stopped. And the Jags because those bastards either get Ben in a retard state, or Tommy Maddox, or some other bullshit to bail them out.
