Yeah, I'm friends with multiple Giants and Pats fans. I can't think of one friend I've ever had who was a Jets fan. Pats are very cocky but i wouldn't go as far as saying arrogant, they are realistic. The more i think about it i think people are just sick of seeing them winning, between the 3 superbowls already, the Sox, and now the Celtics.


I hate to be defending the Pats but in short, i think you're all just jealous...

Exactly, I am right with you. I think everyone knows why I want the Pats to lose, but at the same time I spend half the time here defending them cause they get such unnessesary hate. I respect them totally. The way I look at it, treat those that have a winning team as you would like to be treated the day your team is a champion. I get the rivalry hate, stuff like that, but general hate cause the Pats are great, I dont get that.

(BTW I still hate those Bills more than any team in history, you may feel the same way too.)
 
This will be the hardest test for the Pats. First time they played, the Giants played there best game of the season. 3 games later they are still playing at that same level. Winning all their games on the road has given the team a swagger. If the Giants are going to win they will have to play better than they did. Tynes will not get 3 opportunities to win the game and if someone fucks up to the level that McQuarters did today then its a lost hope. If Plaxico plays like he did today then the Giants will be in a good position but they will need Toomer to step up. He had some good catches today but had some pretty bad drops as well. The Pats need to keep doing what they are doing but given the heat in Arizona, I think Moss will be more of a factor this time out.

It can go either way. Their were warner fans EVERYWHERE the year the Rams won, fans popped up everywhere. Then you have the yankees who for some reason seem to be hated by all, of course I live in the Boston area os I don't know if the hatred is elsewhere.
 
Pats losing to the Giants will be the most awesome thing that can happen unless you're a hardcore Pats fan. I mean the look on the faces of all the stupid sports show pundits would be absolutely priceless. The amount of crow that they would have to eat, not only about the Pats but because of Eli and the Giants, would be massive. The Pats have been crowned already and the Giants weren't supposed to make it past round 1. It'll be mega awesome good times. :D Also, Eli with a ring. :O

Yankees are on a whole other plain, they're like the number 0, they have special exceptions as far as hatred goes. They have as many undeserved fans as they have undeserved haters. If you go through all the World Series they've won, at some point they probably beat your team in it.

Unless of course you're a Marlins fan :D

Tell me, how do you compare Joe Willy and Marino? I know football is a team effort, but I watched Elway bring his average Broncos to three Super Bowls. Sometimes the greats rise to the occasion, making their teams better. And sometimes they don't.

Basically, Marino is at the lower end of great quarterbacks I've seen.

EDIT - This all started when someone compared Nammath to Dilfer. Since none of us have actually seen Nammath play it's worthless arguing.
 
Its also good to see that the two teams that ended the regular season playing their hearts out are the two teams remaining. Hopefully this will teach teams that resting your starters who are not hurt is only detrimental to your team and doesn't help at all.

Did you see Frank Caliendo's segment this afternoon on the Fox pre-game? He got on Terry, Howie, and Jimmy for constantly picking against the Giants... and then he picked against the Giants!

I mean, Dr. Strangelove could be a very nice person in real life. Even his username seems to indicate such.
 
Bandwagoners are a part of sport. They are everywhere in every city in North America. The one commonality is that they are annoying. It depends on which band wagoning fans you are exposed to as the dominant group will always be the most annoying. For me being from the West Coast in Canada, I find Canuck and Suns bandwagoners the worst with the Seahawks to a certain extent. All bandwagoners, no matter the team, are annoying and deserve to die.
 
So thrilled right now. I have to admit I never expected them to get this far; this is kind of unreal.

No way we're going to beat the Pats playing like we did today, though. We weren't bad (D was great), but we failed to convert on enough big play opportunities, and well, Tynes...yeah, he made a 47-yard game winner, but he also missed two makeable FGs before that. No one's perfect, but still.

Great to see Plax have a game like he did; he was a beast today. Eli was very solid yet again; it's nice not having to wonder which Eli is going to show up each week now. Also, even though I love seeing Jacobs plow through defenders, I have to say I have more confidence in Bradshaw lately. His speed and agility allow him to make the quick adjustments and cuts that Jacobs can't.

Can't wait for the Super Bowl. If their previous meeting is anything to go by, it should be a good game.

:lol Yeah. As Andy Rooney, no less. Not once did even a single person pick them. It was Cowgirls, Tampa, and Packtown across the board.

If you want to compare an individual to another then you have to go by stats, Namath is no where near the player Marino was. At the same time I know stats isnt everything but you cannot say Marino was not a winner, third all time in wins, third all time in come from behind victories. Marino's arm was freakish, to this day many still call him the greatest passer to ever live.

So he did not win a SB, it happens. So he had some bad games in the payoffs, it happens. What I don't do is use winning a SB as the end all measure for greatness. What if Elway never had Terrel Davis, what if he did end his career with no SB rings, all of sudden he is worse of a player. What if Vinatieri missed a FG or two in the SB and the Pats dont win, is Brady now not one of the best QB's ever. Sorry but I think the whole SB argument is dumb when comparing individuals.

Even the best players have bad games at times, Brady had a crappy one today but his TEAM still won. Marino had to do almost everything on his own on offense, sometimes thats too much for one man. Just like Peyton, if they had given Marino a good enough team he would have won a super bowl.

So sorry if I dont think the ONE game argument for Namath against the all around stellar career of Dan Marino is a valid one.

Marino had a stellar regular season, not a stellar career. Gotta show up when the pressure is greatest. That's the whole point of sports. I'm not playing favorites either. Reggie Miller is my favorite NBA player of all time, but I can't rank him in the elite group because he couldn't elevate his team to the next level. He was close, but couldn't overcome Jordan, Kobe or those damned Knick teams. Great player? Yup, but not in the same class as someone like Tim Duncan.

As a Raiders fan, and as someone who's seemingly surrounded by Bostonians, I can't say I've been terribly interested in the Super Bowl the past several years. But now I have a legit, burning desire to see little Eli knock off the Pats. Please. For the love of God and younger brothers everywhere, fuck up Tom Brady. It's your dessssstiny, young Manning.

Brady, Elway, and Manning have had some horrible playoff games where their teams bailed them out. If Brady didn't have Vinatieri, he would have been fucked on more than one occasion. And, sometimes, it's a matter of a little bit of luck. Imagine if the tuck rule game never happened. :O
