So looks like he is out for week 2, as well.

Its all over steelers fans. Enjoy being 0-0 while it lasts!
No way. We went two games with Tommy Maddox and lost two games against teams we would have easily beat with anyone else and yet we will still made the playoffs and won the Superbowl.

0-2 and maybe 0-3 is starting to look more likely but you can't count the Steelers out unless we get even more bad luck this year. That is highly possible, but that could happen to anyone.

And Batch is no Tommy Maddox, but unless we are playing Green Bay every week it is going to be tough for him to score 20+ points against the elite teams in the NFL. I am hoping the Dolphins get some of our bad luck (I am sure Brady's evil touch will infect every team in the AFC East) and we scrape out a win.

And even if everything goes wrong and we miss the playoffs, well at least I can fire up the Superbowl DVD from last year. :D

if it was just charlie batch at QB it wouldn't be a problem, cuz his clone Heinz Ward would still be able to take over and carry the team. But now you're in a situation where you've got Charlie Batch as the best athlete on the field at any given time, and that doesn't work out for anyone. The guy can play QB, no doubt-- I've watched him since he was at Eastern Michigan and then with the Lions. He's not gonna lose any games for you, but he's certainly not going to win any for you either.

Yeah.. Charlie Batch to Cedric "Let me dance around like an idiot until the clock runs out when I should have fallen or went out of bounds, runing the 49ers season in the process" Wilson, doesn't exactly strike fear in the hearts of defensive coordinators.

Patriots | Maroney will miss Week 1
Mon, 4 Sep 2006 08:38:55 -0700

ESPN's SportsCenter reports New England Patriots RB Laurence Maroney (leg) is OUT for the team's Week 1 game.

Another one bites the dust...

As long as our defense is playing well we always have a chance.

Cowher has won a ton of regular season games with less talent than he has right now on offense. Granted the AFC North has probably never been this good before, but I wouldn't count out the Steelers just yet.

Now if we lose some offensive lineman this week then I will believe we are cursed by some Bengals fans who can't let go.

Guys, let me know how I did in this 14-team league (it's 1 point per reception, .5 pts per completetion, starts 1 QB, 3 WR, 2 RB, 1 W/R, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF, 50 yards per pt for QBs, all TDs count the same - 6 pts)

QB - J. Plummer
RB - R. Brown
RB - D. Foster
WR - R. Moss
WR - R. Wayne
WR - D. Stallworth
W/R - F. Gore
TE - B. Watson
K - J. Reed
DEF - Miami

BN - W. Lundy
BN - R. Dayne
BN - T. Henry
BN - K. Winslow
BN - E. Moulds
BN - B. Griese

bowser you are missing the following fantasy studs:

alex smith
frank gore
vernon davis
49ers defense
joe nedney
antonio bryant
jeff garcia

Smith - :lol
Gore - I took him in the 5th round FMT! You need glasses!
Davis - Picked before I had the chance to take him as a backup
49ers DEF - Most people don't know this, but the 9ers had the most TDs on DST, so they're not that bad of a pick.
Nedney - I took R. Dayne with my last pick instead of a backup kicker, in case he becomes a goal-line vulture.
Bryant - Taken 8 spots ahead of me, was targeting him as a 4th WR
Garcia - He's on the Eagles and he sucks.

Well, he played superb against Denver and now has a Super Bowl ring to show for it. I suppose if I was in San Fran, I'd dance around like an idiot till I got the hell out of there too.

Actually, I'm pretty thrilled at the amount of people who are just hoping, praying, that the Steelers fold up shop and go home. It means you've arrived as a team when the hater line forms.

man if these 3 stay healthy and reid commits to run we might have a very dangerous backfield. and then imagine with buck in the backfield, westbrook lines up as WR....oh the possibilities.

i just wish moats could return punts. if he was a sure catcher he would be quite servicable as a PR.

"Football Night in America" I think.

Too bad a lot of the Sunday Night games will be on against The Wire. I know HBO replays everything 100 times, but I like watching stuff before the internet ruins it.

:lol peter king picks the lions to win the NFC North... at 10-6.

not a chance in hell. we just don't have the defensive talent to run the tampa 2. as one of the detroit reporters said: "The lions may put up 25 a game this season.... but it won't mean much cuz they could let up 35 a game."

3. Tampa Bay, 8-8: I've raised this point a couple of times this summer: It scares me that five defensive starters -- Simeon Rice, Greg Spires, Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber, Brian Kelly -- are past their 30th birthdays. None was hurt last year. What are the chances that will happen again? And if the injury bug does bite, who's going to rush the passer, for instance, if the 32-year-old Rice goes down?

WTF, he's basing his prediction on the chance the Bucs will get burned by injuries? What kind of BS is that!!!

NFL analysts need to be purged. They should start by firing all the ex-players. They made their money and they clearly dont give a shit about their jobs, otherwise they would put some time in and do some research. Also, hold these guys accountable for the stupid predictions they make. If you are wrong more often than you are right get the **** out, go find another job.

eagle fans, whats the deal with JR reed?

we just signed him to be our kickoff returner, is that a good signing?

Solid Backup Safety. Great Kickoff Return man. Came back from what should have been a career ending injury. Has alot of heart. Wished we would have kept him -_-, but it was a numbers game, and we had 4 capable Safety's. There wasnt room for a 5th

I wonder why the rest of the NFC even bothers showing up when the Panthers are so clearly better than them. Puzzling.

Just like they were so clearly better than the rest 2 years ago. Oh wait...

He could be any number of ESPN analysts.

Really? Who do you think is actually on the Panther's level this year(in the NFC)? I can name the Seahawks and that is if Foster gets injured again.

First of all thats a damn near guarantee.

Second of all teams who are on the top of them level dont usually make themselves noticed until the season ACTUALLY starts.

Third of all, right off my head, Seahawks, Anyone from the NFC East, Bucs look pretty high level to me

I havent seen any Panthers preseason games. All I know is its the same shit every year with the media trying to hype the Panthers ignoring the fact that the one time they did some damage in the playoffs half the team was doping.

And, at the other end of doom and gloom, we have:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AheVrbjQG4cEMoqD8CVVtlBDubYF?slug=ap-steelers-noben&prov=ap&type=lgns

But, the real positive in there is that it sounds like Ward will be ready to go this week.
That would be awesome if Ben was ready for Jacksonville. Though that is not the best team to come back from an operation considering how good their Dline is.

We really need to find some way to go 2-1 in the first three weeks. If we can pull that off we will be in good shape for the rest of the season. Something about this season really scares me though. Oh well, at least we won that championship. That is much better than making the playoffs 11 out of 14 seasons and losing in 5 bajillion AFC Championships.

For a medical standpoint, we tell all of our patients to avoid strenous activity for about 6 weeks. If you look it up, all wounds take about 6 weeks before they 'heal'. I quoted that because all wounds never heal to their original strength. But 6 weeks is when it has healed all that you can expect or hope for. In plain english, it's the time when it is as good as it gets. So, if they rush him, even if they do it with a scope, he's at risk for hernias and further surgery. So it makes sense that they are being vague about his return date. They probably don't want to accept that he needs about 6 weeks to recover, even if they did it laparoscopically.

Seriously, with any bony injury, they throw out specific weeks (12 months, 6 weeks). It doesn't sound good that they are taking it week by week. After seeing McNabb suffer through a 'sports hernia', a real incisional hernia could **** up Toothless Ben for the year.

As an aside, what would be funny is if the Madden Curse is reversed and Seattle does well and the Steelers end up 6-10.

Its not the Madden curse, its the EA Curse. It will **** the steelers and the seahawks both over.

?? Hines was back from the same appendectomy, performed by the same doctor, in two weeks. And as the piece states, Hines had to play through some pain in that game, but it didn't prevent him from catching 8 passes that day. Anyway, given what's happened to Ben back in June and on top of this, I can see them leaving him out till week 3 to be on the safe side. But, as Cowher said at the press conference today, Ben is already out of the hospital and up and walking around after surgery went fine.
