Um, yeah, sure, whatever. I'll skip the impossible future predictions and go with the more logical "from the year 2000 till 2005. If that's the case, then the Eagles have 65 victories. The Pack would have 57, the Bucs would have 54 and still have the title win over Philly and the trophy, and the Rams would have 57 and a title win over Philly. I don't see how that really helps matters. Oh, and Steelers would have 64. :D

To be fair, that's still a 8 game lead over the nearest NFC team you named:P So his point stands, although it really isn't that relevant a point.

Look, I've got less than 24 hours before watching Charlie Batch start a title defense season. There's no better stress reliever than spitting venom on some Eagle fans!

True. I guess the questions remains, would you trade 8 wins for a Super Bowl trophy? What if the Rams finish 12-4 this season while the Eagles wind up 4-12? The 8 game difference is erased and then how great is that decade? It's kind of like those useless stats that Monday Night Football likes to trot out. Like the one from about two seasons ago about Cowher being 91-1 in games where he's had an 11 point lead or some shit like that. What does it mean? Why pick 11 points? And at the time, there was still no trophy. So who cares?

Hey, if the Eagles win it all this year, then kudos to them for a great run. But till then, it's all just a pretty second place. That was the hard facts I had to face after watching a 15-1 season go down the drain. While the best regular season record in the AFC was nice, it's no trophy. And it's no consolation when somebody else is crowned number one. Not by a long shot.

And ill enjoy returning the favor tomorrow night

Fair enough, but one game does not a season make! And if you guys don't see me on here during the game, it's not that I'm hiding. I'll be watching it at my bud's. When I get home though, I will post my thoughts on the game, good or bad. That you can be sure of.

is it sad that i've got my day tomorrow all planned out? Job interview in the AM, then class... class is over at 5, then Im working out, then getting a pizza, a six pack, and watching football til I fall asleep.

I think I'm too young to find enjoyment in such a night, haha.

Well, if you're going back to and including 1995, the Eagles have 99 total wins in that 10 year span. In that same time frame, the Packers have 113 wins and a Super Bowl trophy. While the Bucs have 96 wins.....and a championship game win over your Eagles and a Super Bowl trophy. I'd say that not only comes close, it surpasses. And just for the heck of it, the Steelers have 109 wins and the SB trophy in the last decade. You know, just to rub it in some more on PA's supposed gold standard.

I didnt mean the last 10 years. I was thinking about it more along the lines of 80s, 90s, 00, ect. Im sure you remember the whole thing about how the Cowboys were "the team of the 90s." Since 2000 the eagles have dominated the NFC.

Edit: Im actually kinda surprised the Eagles rank so high going back to 95. Where did you get that info?

cowboys were the team of the 90s due to all the super bowl victories :)

haha. i can't wait for tomorrow. i've been in full football mode since the world cup ended and have been eagerly waiting for this week.

wake up 9. work out. class from 12:30 to 3:30. going to a meeting. then football all night long. i don't know what i'm anticipating more- the ohio state game(which i'm going to!) or cowboys game on sunday.

edit - actually, now that Charlie Batch is starting, I'm a little less enthusiastic about tomorrow. guess i'll watch federer/blake

tomorrow is going to rule, nfl season kickoff!

and personally, as a fan of a team that's sucked hardcore until 2-3 years ago, it's nice just to be a competitor. But it'll be much better if the Bengals win it all in the next 3 years, even if the team winds up self-destructing after that. In a way I can see what Duce is saying (it's always good to feel like your team has a chance), but that's also because honestly a slump will happen sometime, and that's going to be an even harder fall if a championship (or multiple championships) just happened recently. Still, even with all that I'd take a single super bowl win over multiple early exits in the playoffs.

Hell naw, I have my day planned around the game. Same for Sunday and Monday.

Thats kinda taken out of context. If someone offered me a choice between the eagles winning a superbowl then spending the next 4 years in the gutter or not winning a superbowl but making it to 4 consecutive championship games, I would choose the second option. Is it really that hard to understand? Sure a superbowl would be great but it wouldnt be enough to carry me through 4 years of crap. Having an Eagles team that is always challenging makes every game and every sunday that much more enjoyable. :)
You only say that because the Eagles never won a championship. Watching your team actually come through the clutch is incredibly satisfying.

The only thing I might have traded for a SB win is to watch Big Ben beat Tom Brady by 200 points left handed and then have Tom Brady arrested for all of his crime after the game. Regular season success is always nice, but anything that happens in the playoffs is 100x more rewarding.

Interesting article on ESPN on Itula Mili coming back for practice after getting injured, but more importantly...

"Mili returned to practice Wednesday before glowing reviews from his coaches. Yet Seattle is still concerned enough about the position that it brought in Everett, Wash., native and former Oakland Raiders second-round draft choice Teyo Johnson for a workout this week."

That's right, Ror. JET PACK COULD BE A SEAHAWK.

Madden League is already OVER!

Exactly. That would be like me saying the Steelers were the team of the 90s because Cowher started his first 6 years going to the playoffs with 2 championship games and 1 super bowl appearance. They didn't win anything, so I can't say it.

Just added up the Ws.

What in the world did Tom Brady do to earn so much hate from a couple of you? If anything I'd hate Belichick before Brady if the Pats owned my team.

Belichick is already universally reviled by Fantasy Football players.

DAMN YOU MIKE VRABEL!:P

I'de rather have a championship. The 49ers went to 3 consecutive NFC Championship games TWICE in 10 years , 4 in six years at one point--but no one remembers that save for Niner fans. All people remember are the Super Bowl victories. In 10 years, the iggles going to 4 straight NFC Championship games will be a distant memory.

After you have that ring, it relieves ALOT of pressure. Look at guys like Bionic and Spec. The Steelers have a brutal schedule, and questions at pretty much every position on offense, yet those guys are still a lot calmer than last year when they were coming off a 15-1 season. Even if the Steelers go 5-11, they still saw their team get a Super Bowl ring, and you can't take that away.

When I look at Iggle fans on this board, you guys are always on ****in Edge. Its like a virgin who got to '3rd base' a few times but is a horny wreck.. After they finally get some their cool to be around.

:lol! I had him on a fantasy team last year in which you could pick defensive players. They didn't count his offensive TDs. :(

If you don't see pure evil when you look in Tom Brady's eyes I don't know what to say. I have never seen another player take such delight in raping the Steelers (the only other thing that make him happy is attending Al Queda meetings). His purpose in life was to bring misery to others. Luckily, God delivery Pittsburgh a Messiah to deliver us from that suffering. Now of course a string of "bad luck" follows Big Ben after he wins the Superbowl. Coincidence?

Sorry if this has been asked bionic but what's Hines current status? Still Questionable which means he'll probably play tonight?

First, that is a picture of Charlie Batch. I think you must have mispelled Roethlisberger on Google Images.

Second, you picked the most effeminate picture that must exist of a Steelers quarterback since Kordell left.

Third, Brady's evil knows no bounds.

Thanks storybook but I wanted to know what the local news was saying.

I work with a dedicated Steelers fan, who's originally from that area, that said Hines is supposed to start tonight.

Arthur Blank announced today that he is beginning the process of planning the building of a new stadium for the Falcons in downtown Atlanta to open in time for the 2015-16 season.

Sorry, I thought someone answered that before.

I don't know what the local media is saying but Hines said he will be playing so count on him showing up. He has had a lot of hammy problems in the last few years now that I think about it. And it seems to be an epidemic among wide recievers in general.

And cursing Steeler love is NFL blasphemy!

Yeah, I think Hines said he "wouldn't miss it" yesterday. I'm positive he'll play, and I feel slightly better about the Steelers' chances with their premier receiver back in action.

No Hines + No Ben = No Chance

I have been so busy with life, I just really looked at my fatnasy team in DM's dealio and.... my bench sucks complete ass.

What people will remember has nothing to do with my reasoning. Im thinking about how fun it is watching eagles games when they are an elite team compared to when they are crap and I know the memory of a superbowl will not make the crap years any more enjoyable. Last year was a PAINFUL reminder of how much it sucks.

it doesn't get more elite than winning a super bowl. And you don't know if the memory of a superbowl will or won't make the crap years any more enjoyable, cause the Eagle's have never won one :lol :lol :lol

By his logic, I should be perfectly content with the Braves then. We did at least win one championship though. :D

For me the bad 49er teams over the last several years have been alot easier swallow, than the teams that were legit contenders but fell short because of injuries, coaching mistakes, or SORRY ****ING KICKERS!!!!!

If we didn't get the super bowl in 94-95 season, I probably would have shot myself after losing to the packers in the 96-97 championship game, and losing to the Falcons in the 97-98 divisional round. Yeah both years left me a stressful mess, but having the super-bowl a few years back to fall back got me through it.

Simmons always picks New England while the rest of the media always picks the Colts...

Who's the dummy?

My point was it could be the NFC Pro Bowl team against a team of narcoleptic lepers with down syndrome that happen to have Brady at QB, and Simmons would still have an article up about how you can't count Team Leper out because Brady is the QB.

because Brady has the power to cure lepers, obviously.

Yeah I guess the same applies to me, but I have to include MISSED PASS INTERFERENCE CALLS.

We would have owned the Bucs that year too. :(

And we would have beaten the Bucs if not for pretty much our entire starting secondary being hurt. We put a hurting on them the next season when we were healthy!

so tonight is the nfl going to have some crappy singer(s) perform to open up the season?

The game is on NBC right? I expect at least 20 minutes dedicated to a tribute to the Manning family and a preview of the Sunday Night Manning matchup.

Diddy, Cassie, and Rascal Flatts

About two quarters.

At first I didn't believe it when I read it here, but you're right, the Philadelphia Jailbirds haven't won a superbowl, only the pre-merger NFL championship back in 1960 and then twice in the 40s.

Jason Whitlock: pretty damn stupid.

In the first two tenths of his column he has called the Baltimore Ravens a Super Bowl team, suggested that the Packers trade Brett Favre so that his 2007 value doesn't go down, and then suggested that the Bears offer to trade for Brett Favre.
