Official PS3 Custom Theme Thread

OK, excuse me for my ignorance - personal issues have kept me away from any kind of gaming the past few weeks, so I'm just now learning of FW2.0 and the Uncharted demo!! - but how can I get any of the themes on the front page to install directly from the PS3 browser? They all seem to just open as text in separate windows.

wanna bet? :)

Well, no :P

That is, I'm sure you can use some tricks with 'shop to make it look close, but I don't know whether there's a direct mean to make the background perfectly match the layer's general form, with a "3D" look. If there is, I'd like to know how :p

The first post needs to be updated to include the portal theme, that way it doesnt get overlooked.

The neogaf theme is awesome, downloading right now.

quite simply, build a mesh--

I have a mesh that approximates snake's shape. all I have to do is apply the background to it, so it literally 'wraps around' the character's form, all the little creases and everything.

I will add it to the transition, so there are then 5 separate wallpapers :)

:o awesome

i think all will be agree that we can call [modus] as [god] or for me [modussama]

[modussama] i take your first vision to show it on french site.

Hah, my little portal theme cant stand up to the awesomeness that is modus. :(

Though I do wish I got a little feedback to see if I'm headed in the right direction...

m0dus, you get a high five and a cookie for that awesome work. Seriously man, that's some great stuff.

On a side note, the GAF theme wallpaper is a little cut off on my tv. It's displaying in 1080i, and it's a 32inch vizio, so is it possible to adjust the overscan, if that's what is causing the problem?

You could try the other method(using USB or a memory stick). Or adjust your settings (javascript on? ect.).

hmm. you should be able to download one of the wallpapers separately, and when you apply it, the PS3 will let you adjust the size and shape to makeup for the overscan, I think.

That's just it, according to the box that lets you zoom in and out, choosing how to fit the picture, it does fit. But once it's applied, half the N of NeoGAF gets cut off, and the back half of you're name is cut off as well.

We're still trying to figure how to get it to work. Some of them work and some of them don't. I'd like it if we could just have them hosted on their a single site or the owners site but we may end up going the fileshare service route since that seems to work but it's slightly more annoying to have to wait on those sites.

They work if the file is uploaded to filecrunch.com
Some guy did it earlier.. and if you notice I added the link a couple posts up for the neogaf theme..

I think it would be helpful if everyone added their themes in the future to filecrunch.com

Wow, just installed the NeoGaf theme on my XMB/wallpaper and I fucking love it. Truly outstanding work done by m0dus. :D

Where's the Mario Galaxy theme for us PSWiiers?

Well I was hoping for a solution where we could just click on the link and it would install from that link rather than opening a new browser to bring up the file hosting site, wait 20 seconds and then click the download link. I can switch the links to filecrunch hosting for now but we should try to figure out how to get around the file hosting sites.

I was hoping for something like that as well.. but until we get the MIME type correct I guess that wont happen... ???

How do you change mime types for a file?

does it cut off the sides, or the top / bottom?

I think a little top & bottom, but it seems mainly on the sides. I would move NeoGaf down a touch and to the right, then do the exact opposite for Modus.

Tieno said:
Both, it's the top and bottem corner. Just move them a teeny bit toward the center

I have a question.. Are you able to put SD resolution AND HD resolution pics of each BG in the theme file? and will it detect automatically which one to use or something?

methane47 said:
Does your neogaf theme have SD res BGs? and will your MGS theme have SD and HD res BGs?

Not that it matters to me.. I'm just wondering.. Are most people doing this?

You have to, and it's not too hard to do at least.

m0dus said:

try this, and tell me if it works---the MGS4 theme depends on it :p
Yep, that one is good.
-Vertical is ok.
-Horizontal I can see them both entirely, but barely (a few mm of black space seperating it with the sides of my TV)

Thank you Dot! All the other icons in the Portal theme are custom made; the system tool icons were not changed other than the color since they're not used as much.

Ahaha, Nice use of the heart icons :lol

you are missing links for the themes

They are for the OP, to maintain consistency. The picture up there now is the preview picture the theme creator spits out, which doesnt show the vertical icons.
