Who said we didn't notice it? I preferred the old sound but it's something you only hear for a couple of seconds so it isn't a big deal. Ugly fonts etc on the other hand...
 
The FL almost looks like XBL's FL, but uglier. The messaging is a little smarter.

I failed at voting with my wallet on the LBP theme.
I had to see it, but it should have been free. Woo you in and whatnot.
Splitting the cost with a coworker. He offered to buy lunch tomorrow if I TOFTT.

It's a'ight. I'll have to see it mid-day to say for sure.
But I need an option to change the font size. I have a 1080p set for a reason.

Worst thing is, the Marquee isn't even that useful. At least in the JPN PSN it's showing the same 4 or 5 news all the goddamn time... fucking tiring...

Seriously, they should have made a bottom bar like in CNN with different news showing up, and maybe even get some feed from other friends ( "Friend XXX just unlocked YYY trophy in ZZZ game", etc..).

But as of right now, it's a worthless piece of shit.

The sparklies are DISSAPOINT. If you were expecting something on par with WipEout Fury. That it is not. I've high hopes for other dynamic themes though!

No idea then. I tried Killzone 2 and it shows up. Tried Batman again (played a little bit of it as well) and still nothing.
 
I like how the Canadian Video store shows absolutely nothing.:lol

I think it's a great update, much more streamlined. The larger font is a huge improvement.

What's New is cool. Seeing Arkham Asylum, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Battlefield 1943 in there made me want to play them right away...which I was able to!

The top bar showing the amount of users online is great too. Though I don't like those huge grey bars in the friends section.

I hope m0dus starts making some dynamic themes.
 
I have a 1080p Bravia and the new huge icons/font are indeed annoying, I'm sure I'll eventually get used to it, but I'd still like an option to turn it off.

And since I live in Europe I have no PS store icon on the 'Video' tab and no iplayer either, since I don't live in the UK.

And no Bravia Sync for the fatties. ;(

I don't hate it, but sure they went overboard with the size of those boxes. I don't get the point of making them so much wide.

They should put an icon for the last 3-5 games that person has played.
 
The new friends list is kinda obnoxious but at least the background is sparkley now...right? Plus, with "whats new" I can now launch a game that is in my BR drive, which is convenient

Yeah, but still, when not highlighted, those boxes should shrink more, much more. As they are now, there is too much gray in there.
 
Lovin this cept for the Shit list grey box. It will only be redeemed if custom themes can play around with it and make something sick out of that area.

Everything is faster though, its great.

I hate the "gamey" big font and icons.

Loved the classier, minimal, media center look before.

It does look very gamey. But I paid 599 US DOLLARS Kutaragi-style for a slick, classy convergence device, not a goofy looking toy. Giant kid fonts and scrolling words in a permanent ticker and big giant squares of advertisement on tabs are a complete fucking downer.

It's great that some people like this new visual stuff, but the fact that we don't have the option to switch back is completely disappointing. I've been in love with the PS3's XMB since day one, but these changes made it immediately transform from clean and minimal to crowded and super busy as far as I'm concerned... I just want my small font and no ticker back. :(
 
Iit's so nice to be scrolling and have ads popping up and occluding other items on the list with no option to turn it off

Then they combined it with the most annoying part of the ps3 interface (the information bar) and removed the ability to turn it off, so I now get to see the completely useless message "over 20 iconic queen titles" and "girlz play too" scroll by 100 times.

I'm not talking about the expanded box when u highlight a friend. I'm talking the shrinked one. They could very well display all that extra information u mention in the expanded one and shrink the minimized one.
 
While I was DL from the store front. My DL finished while the store one was still DLing. So I was DLing 2 things at once. Wonder if it allows DL while OL in a games. Don't know if it's an old feature. :lol
 
Sign in is slow as buggery, Icons are HUGE, friends list is ugly....... sparkles are nice though, they move up and down when your browsing under one section.
