Official PSP Minis Thread

uh, so, can someone help me out here: i think i have some old ass CFW, 3.x, 4.x or something, can't check right now. but i don't really use homebrew or anything and haven't used my psp in a long time. i don't care what firmware i'm gonna have but i wanna try out those minis and possibly get some other shit from the psn store. can i go back to normal firmware or should i upgrade to some newer CFW to access the store etc. or what?

You can upgrade to newer CFW and still access the store. I'm not 100% certain you can play all the Minis but Thexder works on my CFW PSP so I imagine the rest work too. Check the recent posts in the CFW thread for tipzzz.

I got a chance to play some more Brainpipes and it finally clicked with me. I don't think the analog nub or Dpad are the best for this game. The controls are by far the biggest draw back of this game.

Bought a few MiniS:

Tetris: Waste of $10, not a very good version at all.
Sudoku: Pretty hard to mess that one up.
Thexder Neo: Not a MiniS game, but very awesome so far.
Fieldrunners: I like it a lot, never got around to playing it on iPhone

Man, I guess only time will tell how Sony handles the prices of these Minis, and full games. Right now these prices are just offensive. If I felt confident there would be frequent price drops / sales similar to iTunes / Steam, I would feel more confident buying a Go. But as it stands, i've just gotta wait....

Is PacMan CE avaliable now, or is that coming?

pacman isn't out yet. :(

All psp minis have an option 'update' so it looks to update the game to the latest version of the game.

thanks.

is there any way to go back to the regular fw?

I think you can just download and install official firmware without any issues. I've never done it myself though so I'm not 100% sure. Poke around the custom firmware thread. It has tons of info.

Fieldrunners is good, Sparta is garbage.

Yep. Bought Fieldrunners, just as good as iPhone version, controls perfect but graphics blurry when zoomed in. Pixeljunk is better long term value though, I think.

I want pixeljunk, but the $20 price point turns me off from it. I just want something bite-size for my tower defense fix and fieldrunners seems to fit that. Although, I will admit that $7 for it seems a bit steep too.

The prices are way higher then expected. Plus weren't we told that we would get 15 games today?

Besides, wtf are the demos? Sony doesn't charge for bandwidth when it comes to minis right?

I hear you. I'm a HUGE supporter of the guys at Q and I would love to pick it up, but I've already been there day 1 on both PS3 versions. Having to shell out double the cost now for the same content sans 1 new island is kind of leaving me with a sour taste. Especially when I can already play the game on my psp via my ps3.

Well there are new unlockables plus online co-op play. And I'm having a fun time revisiting the first island again.

Eh, I dunno. It's fun to me. :D

I never got this game on the PS3..It's something I'd like to try out on the psp..online multiplayer sounds awesome.

I believe that it was technically SCE Europe that promised 15 games today. SCE America hasn't said much at all about the program, they just glommed onto the UK coverage. SCEE came close to meeting that mark with 13 games released.

Brainpipe looks good. Didn't know it was already a pc game. Kinda reminds me of this circular shooter on the Playstation.

Just finished the first stage of Fieldrunners on Easy (goddamit it's not Easy :( ). Fantastic. Very well recommended.

You linked to Kahoots, Captain. Here's Tetris: http://www.pspminis.com/235/tetris-review/

Great review as usual. I would have bought it if it was 5 bucks. Not that it's not worth it, it's the goddamn Tetris on PSP! But I bought it for so many systems that I feel obliged to get it for free :P

I got Thexder NEO. It's cool but I suck at playing. The title screen music kicks ass.

I always loved portable gaming, and I never cared for choosing a favorite between the PSP and DS because they're booth darn awesome, but after the PSP store (not just Minis) I think I'll lean towards the PSP side. Even though I have a PSP2000 I'm considering the Go. I love digital distribution and this is way too awesome.

Bought Tetris for my 3000, its alright. I just wanted Tetris for quick casual play sessions, and since it works as intended I can't complain. Really wish it was closer to $5, though.

But then again I remember buying Tetris DS back when that came out for $20 or $30, whatever its normal price was. :lol

Have you played the PC version? It's amazing and the trippiest game ever, and the only thing that stopped me from grabbing it on the PSP right when I saw it was I imagined the controls being shitty in comparison to using a mouse.

I never played the game on the PC, but it does control like it needs a mouse for best results. Are you going to be playing on a PSP Go or 1/2/3000? I only ask because it feels like night and day comparing them. It controls very well on the PSP Go. I love this game now.

I just got Tetris as well. It's a solid version of the game that appears to have all kinds of fun gameplay modes in addition to the traditional game. It would've been great if the price was closer to $5 as you said, and also could've used some more visual polish for the PSP, but overall it's fine for a quick Tetris fix.

I have a 1000, and am eventually going to get a Go but probably going to wait for a price cut or the inevitable 32GB version. Or Christmas. :lol

Fieldrunners is awesome. I enjoy it much more on the Go than I do on the iPhone for some reason. Weird.

How changed up is it? I wouldn't recommend it on the iPhone, but lots of people seem to love it.

So worth it. Playing against the CPU is so fun...

I've been playing "Holy Invasion of Piracy, Badman! What Did I Do To Deserve This?" for the past hour. Haha. For just 10 bucks I think it's cool.

I have a 6-hours flight to London tomorrow and I'm not sure what to pick: Disgaea 2 or Persona. Does D2 retains all the new stuff from D3?

I didn't even know that it is also available on the iPhone.:lol
Anyway, the game is so damn addictive.

I am finding out so much more about it as I play. The levels are randomly generated.

Hmm, I think I'll grab it after all.

Has anyone played Alien Havoc thoroughly yet?

Is Fieldrunners a good alternative to Pixel Junk Monsters? Or should I just shell out the $20?

I hear Fieldrunners lacks the longevity/polish/music Pixel Junk offers.
