Updated OP with first review from 360 live:
9,3 ; Game of the Month ; Hot Buy

Damn, I´m pumped! :)

Edit: By the way, they are talking of 150 hours of gameplay for the sp!

If nothing else at least the robes look like actual awesome mage robes. The robes in oblivion were like ugly dresses. Also the enemies actually look menacing and ground textures are as good as high res texture replacement packs in oblivion. Still there is more to games than graphics so unless the gameplay rocks that won't mean anything.

True! So let´s put this review score into perspective. They gave:
C&C3 - 8.7
Cabela´s African Safari - 4.3
Rayman Raving Rabbids - 6.2
EDF 2017 - 7.3
FF XI (german) - 6.3

So I´d say, the gameplay does indeed rock! The only beef they had were the faces of the NPC´s.

Finished reading the mag last night. Here comes the fun part:
In the editorial they claim, that Microsoft forbid them to put Live Anywhere functionality into Two Worlds. Simply because MS want to be the first (with Shadowrun) to do so.
WTF? If MS really want the 360 to be successfull, they will need the 3rd parties. Thats some ****ed up shit!

The only way that might make any sense is if it's because they more or less feel like they need to be first in order to be in control first hand to work out the inevitable initial kinks in the Live Anywhere system.

Please let the combat system be fixed up. That seems to be the main complaint from IGN...I don't mind ugly human textures...I just want a polished combat system!!!!

"All defensive moves are automatic and based on invisible dice rolls, so your only concern during combat is swinging like a madman".

I might additionally be concerned at the perverse limits to my capacity to do anything about the clubs, axes, arrows, spells etc... being flung or swung in my direction. Is this half a combat system, or am I wrong ?

Defense is skill based - so you got to develop those skills.

Yep. Whenever you level up, you can distribute skill points. Develeoping your defensive skills gives you a higher chance to block, absorb magic etc.

Roger. Does the total automation seem a bit impersonal, though - even for rusted-on RPG fans ?

Dunno, I had no chance to try it out myself. But from what I read, the attacking should make up for it, because you can use combos.

Guys, I just got word that the game could be delayed 2-3 weeks :-/

DAMN! sad_panda.gif

Holy Shite at the size of that MAP, and the sheer amount of Points of interest, it looks twice the size of Oblivion, my only worry is that the sheer size is going to impact something else, like unique dialoge.

Edit: More like 3 times the size of Oblivion on second thought,WOW

Yeah and sadly, more than three times the ugliness. I fear the devs are putting in randomized, superfluous landscape Boiling Point-style.

God the animation is terrible and the art is even worse, but still I'm a sucker for this kind of co/op so I'll probably be getting it.

I'm excited for this, but I'm not confident enough for a day one purchase. Gonna wait for some user reviews and so forth. I think it definitely could turn out awesome.

Where is the info about the multiplayer? Is there anything beyond what was mentioned in the first post of this thread? Is it coop or something?

I want this to be great but I get a little sinking feeling whenever they release some new screens. My fingers are crossed though as I'd love to get suck into another huge Western RPG.

Someone of the beta testers tried to get by foot from north to south and needed 17 minutes. Only walking without fighting.

(and he also didn't add the time to get through the little river)

@Sullen: It'll be several modes. There is also a co-op, which should work like the instances in WoW. But there is also PvP possible.

There was also some first review where this game scored 9,3. But it was from a 360 only site.

I'm a sucker for pretty world maps like that, makes me want to explore. :(

Oh yes. I used to just stare at the Baldur's Gate 2 map (made out of cloth) for minutes on end.

"1999 to 2007". Am I missing something here?

a) has it been in development that long; it WAS originally a PC game afterall ;)
b) is it some kind of spinoff/sequel?
c) am I just a complete moron (this being GAF, I'm expecting everyone to answer "C")

EDIT:

Wow, just watched the videos for the first time. My hype dropped a bit. I'm willing to let this thing delay for more than just a few weeks. I'd even wait until 2008.

My first thought when I saw the teleporter video was that the game looked like what would happen if Fable and Oblivion fell in love and got married and a couple years later Two Worlds pops out to joy all around.

But after watching more of that video and the others, it looks like what happens when Gothic and Oblivion got hopped up on X one night at a club and made a terrible mistake resulting in an unwanted pregnancy. Two Worlds grows up in an orphanage.

I'd have to say the videos had an opposite effect on me, I wasnt too interested in this game initially, but now I'm quite excited. The animations looked solid (particularly liked the combat ones), combat seemed quick and exciting, environment looked quite beautiful in motion, all in all my interest in this game has gone up alot and I'll probably pick it up for PC for sure.

Three new pics from the Developer Blog:

a magic amulet:
The magic in TW will be handled using cards, somewhat similat to games like Magic The Gathering. Cards can be combined, stacked, boosters added etc.
In the shown amulet you can add three spell cards, boost every of them with three more, and then hotkey them for use in battle.

More or less, yes.
Two Worlds was meant to be a Sci-Fi-RPG, developed by Metropolis and as a successor of Gorky 17. And first time Two Worlds was shown to public was at the E³ in 2000...

Got cancelled and after some time Reality Pumps started to develop on the Two Worlds we see here.

I hope fantasy gets a workout comparable to sci-fi this generation - I'm all for games with futuristic tech and galaxy-jumping, but monsters and magic and so on are where it's at. Offline, too - MMO games seem to get so much of the love fantasy-wise.

Delay officially confirmed, only on Xbox 360 :( The PC version will come out May 9. (Europe)

There isn't a new date for the 360 version yet, it seems to be stuck in the MS certification process...

****. N. A.

Please tell me it's only a few weeks.

... and here is the wording of the official press release:

"Two Worlds" Console version delayed in Europe

+++ PC game in the stores as planned on 9th May +++

The console version of "Two Worlds" will unfortunately not be in the stores with the PC version on the 9th of May. As yet, no new release date has been announced. Unfortunately, the reasons for this delay cannot at this time be given by the publishers.
Internal development of the console version ran like clockwork and final product quality itself leaves nothing to be desired, a fact vouched for in an article in the current issue (5/07) of the German print magazine "360 LIVE" - "A fantastic RP experience, full of life and ideas... who would ever have thought that Oblivion could be dethroned so fast? This "Two Worlds" is indeed a worthy successor!! ...Rating: 9.3 out of 10" Let's hope that all you Consoleros out there will soon be able to join the PC gamers in their enjoyment of the "Two Worlds" - RPG entertainment at its best.

Gee, thx MS for not just f***ing up the Multiplayer, but the release as well! :-S
