Boy, really strong language about a site that just shows game footage and fun stuff. Now that I think about it - HEY! Fuck YOU, Mark MacDonald! Wow, that was really empowering! I feel great. ^^
Defensive much? It's a public beta on the internet. Once again, on the internet. What sort of criticism did you expect? Scour through the language and perhaps there's something constructive in there, or perhaps not. The only thing which gave me the shits at first sight was the horizontal scrollbar, which is still there. :'(

if I had the resources I'd go with proper usability testing and thorough bug checking. if this has been privately tested among invited users, then cool, I'm sure it was very helpful. Just seeing "beta" on every new website/Web 2 application seems like an excuse to push unsteady sites to launch. but they're not my users to worry about if shit goes down.

Looks alright so far, though I'm not too fond of the color scheme. I just don't like seeing a lot of dark colors, especially predominantly black, on a site. It's too subdued. If there was a way for users to customize the color palette to their liking (cookie-based I suppose) that would be tops.
Also, pages are a little bit clunky to load, though I'm assuming that has more to do with being in beta.
In the end, though, I like the functionality of this site far better than 1Up. Hopefully that site is next on ZD's hit list for a makeover. Oi, that site needs an overhaul badly.

I'm really excited about GameVideos, and not because I'm paid to say that either!
There's this box in the GameVideos area of the building. This box is filled with ancient VHS of some of the greatest shit known to mankind. It makes me giddy just thinking about the awesomeness that is to come
It'll also be great when the user submitted stuff rolls in. Yes! You too can be internet famous by doing Pokeraps!

Since its a beta, I'm guessing feedback would be desirable: the site has locked up my browswer both times I've launched it. I'm on a Mac btw.
My fear is that if its part of 1UP, it will be permanently borked for me... Seriously, when are you guys going to fix that end up?

The first thing that hit me when I loaded it up was that it was just too much. Too many menus, pictures, text, links all on the front page.
Have you ever considered ditching the whole trailer, ads, extreme etc. top bars and just having PSP, PC, DS, PS2, PS3, 360 etc. and then, having the list of game titles. And of course, upon selecting which game title, all ads, speed runs, fan videos, official trailers will be listed under each game.
I don't know, it's just that gametrailers.com (and I hate to bring it up but who can't spot the similarities) seems much more easier to navigate. Given, a good portion of it may as very well be that I'm used to said site, but that's not the reason entirely.

I have a small suggestion...
When you use the search bar on the left, and select a category -- if you just leave it blank (then click 'go') perhaps it should display all the items in that category, rather than none. That way, it makes an easy way to browse platform-specific stuff.

Also, might I make suggestions?
1. When I try to view a bigger view of Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins, QuickTime doesn't load.
2. My search on the left side of the page doesn't carry over to a page change. Fix that!
3. Alphabetize the A-Z games (like Paper Mario is after Project Gotham Racing 3).
4. Punch Jennifer, for giving Phoenix Wright a low rating on the basis that it doesn't have "enough gameplay".

I love the site (it may have inspired me to pull out the DV cam and make my own GameLife-esque show :lol ) but does this mean I can't download the 1up Show anymore? It won't play from the site and I liked downloading the file better anyway.
