Oh, by the way, I don't know if this has been mentioned, but 4Kids finally got to Bellemere.

Arlong locked her away in a "deep, dark dungeon." Forever.

:lol

So they cut out Nami visiting the grave? wtf

I saw a few minutes of dubbed one piece today, Smoker was renamed chaser and natch, no longer has a cigar in his mouth.

The Gold roger pub is now a juice bar and gold rogers walk to the gallows wasn't the day he died , it was "his last day of life" whoda thunk it.

seriously why even bother bringing a show out if its gonna get raped up the ass this hard?

I didn't catch OP until this past weekend, but it was the episodes where they first got to Baratie. I wouldn't really mind the edits so much if the voices weren't so shitty and without feeling.

I mean, Patty's voice... and Sanji's voice... :shudder:

For the record, 4Kids has cut out more than EIGHT EPISODES WORTH now. They cut the entire post-Arlong celebration, almost all of the "Luffy gets his bounty" episode, and all of the Little Buggy Story. Today's episode was either episode 40 or 41 for 4Kids, but it covered stuff from the Japanese episodes 48 or 49 or so.

Is this popular with the kids where you guys live? It's only mildly popular here, so I can't imagine the dvds selling well, cut or uncut.

It's kind of like the Wild Arms to Naruto's FFVII.

DVDs aren't even out yet (and they are confirmed to be the cut US TV versions), and from what I understand, the ratings are not very good for 4Kids' One Piece run, but it is doing well with 6-11 year olds and Toonami apparently.

Not to mention my 11 year old cousin saw one episode of the cut version and declared it "stupid."

So, no, I don't think the kids are really buying it. Not the way they probably should be anyway. And who can blame them?

We only sell maybe 5 copies each on the manga, and I know the dvds don't hit until september, but I can't imagine them doing very well.

Same thing happened to Shaman King... first two came out, no one bought them, and I've never seen #3 out anywhere. It's really too bad, these are good shows if they would just be left alone.

Naruto manga is usually pretty high on the sales charts as far as GNs go, and they usually sell out pretty quickly through comic shops. One Piece is a bit easier to find - and more of a middle of the road title in sales - but still seems to be doing fairly well thanks to the Shonen Jump monthly.

Yeah, I think the series would be a lot more popular with the treatment of, say, FMA on the Cartoon Network, but I guess that's just how the cookie crumbles.

and on a completely different note: ep 233:
wow, the voice actor for Usopp completely nailed the emotion for that critical scene. Awesome.

Midnight tonight, 151 will be released! This is supposedly a very great episode from what I've heard.

Yeah, it's basically the single biggest concentration of overall plot development in the series (although, I think the next episode gets a bit, too). There's:

-
Luffy winning in one shot.
-
The world goverment leaders discussing things.
-
Return of Mihawk.
-
Whitebeard pirates (for which Luffy's brother works for).
-
Redhair pirates.
-
Blackbeard pirates, which Luffy's brother is somehow implicated about.

Basically, a shitstorm of cool plot details that seems to be leading towards the series conclusion, but at the same time expands like a wide angle zoom lens on just how damn big the series is going to be. I mean, even if the Black/Red/White teams are the baddest guys in Grand line, there are still
six of the government sanctioned pirate kings
to take care of.

haha I thought 151 was a typo in Kave_man's post. He must've meant 150...

This is the first time I missed a OP episode release. :(

I blame Battlefield 2.

so I finally started reading the manga due to the slowness of fansubs in Spring and Summer

So I am up to chapter 19 with about 360 to go T_T

is it worth it... gosh I hope so... so far so good

You bet it's worth it. It also gets WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than where you are now. The training wheels are still on at that point, so to speak. :D

Yeh, keep at it. I think the early scanlations of the manga are a little loose in the translation, especially with names, moves, ect. But it progressively improves with every volume, so yeh... don't be put off by that, just keep with it. :D

btw... ep.235 is out now.

Episode 152 is gonna be released tonight! Honestly I don't see how people say they don't release episodes fast enough. It seems they average at least one episode a week.

Welcome to the best One Piece arc ladies and gentlemen. God I love Sky Piea.

I have to get caught with the manga, last chapter I read was..369

The best? I think it's the worst of the official arcs. But it's still going to be fun to watch.

S&C: Watch the anime too, dammit!

But then it'd have to be on Adult Swim. Case Closed was like that -- it's on Adult Swim because it's [seen as being] just too damn violent for a cartoon in any other time slot. But, paradoxically, it's also very kiddie, so adults don't watch it.

Make sense. Anyway I just watched 235, it was pretty good considering how it was so close to being a soap.

Water 7 might not even be half way trough and I think I can safely say that it's my favorite arc so far

Mugen said:
Alright thanks moogle. If Water 7 is 230+, then the other group is already on it then I think.

Yeah, they are. In fact, ep234 is the second strut episode, as Luffy and company
annihilate Franky House in retribution for theft and beating Usopp into a pulp.
Ep236 is the infamous
captain's battle between Luffy and Usopp.

I think it's either 227-228 or 228-229 that is the double episode with Ao Kiji. And right before that 220-226 or whatever is wasted with two mini-filler arcs - 1.
the team loses their memories.
and 2.
The Davyback guys are in trouble.
- the second mini arc has some damn funny moments involving Usopp and Chopper, but you're still not missing anything.

Himuro: 373, it seems.

In related news...

"#XXXXXXX-Fansubs' One Piece

is now the longest running digital fansub series produced by a single group.

Ever.
"

The explanation, straight from their forum:

"Okay, so, after releasing 152, we have passed the group which (to the best of my knowledge) had released the most episodes of a single series.

That was #anime-otakus doing Prince of Tennis. They are currently at Episode 151.

They of course have never released any movies or TV specials for that series, but we'll even the playing field and just count the series episodes.

Some other stats for people who are interested.

"Digitally" fansubbed means we release .avi files, playable on a computer. As opposed to VHS fansubs from days long past.

I think the longest digitally subbed series overall, of multiple groups, is Inuyasha. The principle known subbers were #anime-XXXXX, who started at Episode 81. The series stopped at Episode 167.

The longest fansub of a single series (again, to the best of my knowledge) was also coincidentally done by a single group. That was the Sailor Moon VHS fansubs done by XXXX for all 200 episodes of the series.

Dragon Ball Z fansubs are disqualified for... having Korean subtitles. And sucking.

Hong Kong dvds are also disqualified because they charge money for them and are therefore not fansubs.

The current runners up are, of course, #anime-otakus for Prince of Tennis, and #XXXXXXXX for Naruto (boooo).

Honorable mention is #anime-XXXXX which fansubs Detective Conan and is still incredulously plodding along. I think they are in the 80's somewhere, but Detective Conan is already hundreds of episodes longer than One Piece."

Fansub group names for licensed series have been edited out to protect the innocent (and my account).

Can someone tell me around what issue in the manga would be around episode 70 in the anime. That's when the giants are about to fight. My computer is fucked for now (posting from a friend's) and I need my One Piece fix.

Manga Chapter #374 is pretty darn good.

sogeking: but pirates, cant just leave a ship without the permission of the captain

I think we've got a major Robin flashback incoming! It's only taken like what, 150 or so chapters? Anyways, apparently her family and people were wiped out by a 'Buster Call' fleet, when she was a child. That would explain why she's so desperate to distance herself from the Strawhats, so they don't end up incurring the same fate.

Which in the end will all probably be in vain, since Spandam has already got the clearance from Aokiji to use the Buster Call and there's no doubt he'll use it regardless of whether Robin holds up her side of the bargain or not. Plus I'd think it would be relatively easy to assemble & deploy the fleet, since Eneas Lobby is basically the gates to the High Marine Headquarters.

So for a 4Kids Update:

Dragon still saved Luffy (I have no idea if Luffy was actually about to be beheaded as I didn't watch it myself)

Captain "Chaser" revealed his Devil...I mean, Cursed Fruit, which is the Smoke Smoke Fruit. The fight between him and Luffy was apparently more or less the same.

Next week's episode will be crossing Reverse Mountain and entering the Grand Line. No Apis.

Which means next week's US episode 44 will match up with Japanese episode 61. That gap is getting exponentially bigger by the week. Of course, the episode from the week after that is called "Baroque Works." Baroque Works doesn't make an appearance until the very very end of Japanese episode 64 (at least the name doesn't), so the next two episodes are pretty much guaranteed to combine at least 4 episodes worth of content between the two.

Pretty amazing, really.

I haven't read since somewhere in the Water 7 arc several months ago but I want to know if there is any mention of the next Shichibukai or next big bad guy?

no, Water7 is all about the CP9.

i guess the BlackBeard crew will be the next arc.

What's the deal with Dragon, anyway? If it's going to spoiler plot stuff later on, don't tell me; otherwise, I'd love to know!

I liked it at the beginning, but after about half way through the arc, I just threw that HK dvd set with that arc on my shelf and skipped to the Alabasta arc.

whoa straight to alabasta - you skipped the crew entering the grand line, whiskey peak, coby and the marines, little garden, and drum island? You missed some of the best arcs. :lol

No joke.

Especially Drum. And Arabasta isn't even half as good without all of that build up.
