OneDrive - How do I get this off Windows 10, found photos I wish I hadn't seen

Was messing around with my documents and opened up OneDrive as I didn't know what it was and realised it's the cloud storage for Windows. I then found a load of photos from my Dad's Windows phone of him and the woman he cheated on my mom with. I just want that shit off the computer so my mom doesn't see it (she kicked him out a while ago) and for some reason the idiot doesn't realise all his phone pictures are being beamed straight to our desktop. The pictures are just the two of them together in various places but obviously it's just gonna piss my mom off and open up old wounds, whats the best way to get this crap off there?

Disable OneDrive in Windows 10

There are a couple ways to disable OneDrive in Windows 10: unlinking your Microsoft account from OneDrive or by disabling it through Group Policy.

Unlink OneDrive on Windows 10
Follow these instructions to unlink OneDrive from your account:
1. Right-click on the OneDrive icon in the notification area and then select "Settings"
2. Click "Unlink OneDrive" on the "Settings" tab

Disconnect your Microsoft Account from Windows 10
Follow these instructions to disconnect your Microsoft account from your Windows account in Windows 10:
1. Click the Start button, type "settings", and then click the "Settings" app
2. Click on "Accounts" and then click on "Your account"
3. Select "Sign in with a local account instead" and follow the instructions through the prompts

Disable through Group Policy
Following these instructions to disable OneDrive via the Group Policy Editor:
1. Type "group policy" in the Cortana search bar and then select "Edit group policy"
2. Browse to "Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> OneDrive"
3. Right-click on the "Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage" entry and select "Edit"
4. Choose "Enabled" and then select "OK"

I can't see any OneDrive icon in the notifications sidebar :/

I tried this but the pictures are still there despite entering all the commands like it says.

thanks for the help guys . really appreciate it !

Er, what?

Do you log in under your father's Microsoft account?

It's technically his computer but as he left, we kept it as there's documents etc we need. So yes the login is all his information.

You know you can just log him out right? And put your account as primary.

there's only one account on the computer. Could I make a new one and then just erase his?

Edit - Scratch that, made a local account and the OneDrive thing is still there in File Explorer. Is there no way to just disconnect these things?

Did you drop his account yet? This shit would be truly broken if his account was gone and was still syncing. I'd consider it a security design issue actually

I didn't outright delete his account but the OneDrive thing and all the photos are still showing up - I just switched to a local login.

Even on the Photos App after I clicked the switch to only show photos stored on the hard drive, the computer thought 'fuck it' after I restarted and is now showing the photos from OneDrive again. Why is it so fucking hard to unlink. I just want it gone from the computer.

Also I followed all the Run and Command steps and gpedit (Group Policy Editor) isn't showing up anywhere on the computer, it seems like it can't be found. This is truly a horrendous ecosystem.

Edit - I've deleted the photos from the OneDrive folder and emptied the trash can. The problem is if he takes anymore and new photos will appear. That's what I'm trying to solve here, I don't want anything he takes on his phone to appear on the desktop. Why is this so difficult.

OP, right click on the OneDrive cloud icon in the icon tray > settings > on the first page, theres an 'Unlink OneDrive' button, give that a go!

Thanks, however it doesn't seem to be appearing in the icon tray anymore, possibly because all the fucking around I was doing with the command prompts. But if it comes back for whatever reason I will definitely try that!

Just FYI if there are documents also stored in onedrive be SURE to copy those off first.

Also if you want you can really screw with him since his phone is tied to onedrive too... delete all of those photos and put ones of you and your mom or other women. Those will automatically sync to his phone and when the new woman sees them she will go nuts. Or just overload his phone with lots of junk.

If there's anything in the OneDrive Folder that you need then make a backup of that to a USB drive or something (to make sure that they're safe).

Then make a new admin account. Log into that admin account (this will probably be the main login of the desktop now instead of your jerk dad's account). and then blow away your dad's account.

Is the problem resolved? Maybe uninstall and reinstall the Photos App to force it to refresh

Or create a new online account with your own outlook/hotmail and that way you'll be connected to your own new OneDrive folder and not his.

Damn this connectivity crap. I had a shock when my smart tv found my pc wirelessly. Good thing it couldn't access it, otherwise everyone in the living room would be able to watch my porn.

Create your own Microsoft account, give that account admin rights to the machine. Delete your dads account off the computer. The files may still be there, just delete them, in fact just delete his whole profile from c:\users\%yourdadsusername%. Sign up for your own OneDrive account and enjoy free storage.

Only if you're dumb enough to put your porn in your my pictures/video folders. It wouldn't have access if it's hidden in a folder away from those unless you manually share that folder.

Yeah I looked through most of it and it was literally just photos from his phone. There is a side of me that does definitely wanna do that haha. Would be interested to see his reaction at the very least.

I'm going to wait it out and see if anymore photos get uploaded but hopefully with the messing I've done with it today that will stopped stuff going through. Failing that then yeah I'll try what you suggested with the account thing.
Thanks guys.

Maybe it's different with Windows 10 Mobile but I'm pretty sure that photos copied to OneDrive won't sync to the phone. You would only see them if you open the OneDrive app.

Yeah I'm aware it needs to be 'shared', and I definitely don't store them on the default folders, but there's still that sense of unease that Windows won't listen to me.
