"Only on GOG.com" sale - Witcher 3 50% off

Is it bad I'm more willing to pay full price because I'm too lazy to have my games split between more than one distribution platform?

With Gog you can just save the game to a USB and bring/install it anywhere, at that point you don't even need to log-in anywhere to play it. Just add it to Steam as a Non-Steam game if you want.

Do the GOG editions of the goldbox games have the copy protection cracked differently than years ago? Any other changes/bugfixes? I have the some of the gold boz games set up in Dfend reloaded already...had them for years...? I still have my 5.25"/3.5" boxed copies also.

Honestly I think I still have the Amiga version of PoR setup somewhere also...

All games on GOG are DRM free.

Get The Witcher 3 if you don't have it already and enjoy big, meaty RPG's. It's taken forever but I am finally putting major time into the game and every time I play it I come away a little more impressed with the whole package.

In fact I am sitting here at work this morning wishing I was back home playing The Witcher 3 right now. When I stopped to go to bed last night I was in the middle of a major questline that was playing out to be pretty incredible and I want to see what happens next.

Did you play through the first two?

Gosh Planescape Torment is finally on sale... Really tempted but I won't be playing it for a LONG time to come yet... Decisions decisions...

In for Star Trek. I was surprised they didn't show up in the Fall sale, but I guess this is why.

They're modded so that when they ask for the code wheel password, you can just hit enter and continue, regardless of what you enter. I'm not aware of any other changes having played through Pool of Radiance recently.

Is it worth getting Witcher 3 on PS4? Is it smooth enough? I could get it on either that or PC and it's slightly cheaper on Zavvi UK for PS4, but not sure about the differences.

Well you could buy Witcher 3 for 30€ ...

or...

buy all the cRPGs in a bundle and be done with new releases until ... forever....

Don't tempt me Gold Box bundle

As a friendly reminder for those buying DOS games, make sure aspect ratio correction is on, and unless you're into pixel smoothing, or using an older system, use graphics mode OpenGLnb with scaling set to none (OpenGLnb will automatically scale accordingly).

Thank you for this because I have a shit ton of DOS games and occasionally accidentally stumble over the correct settings after futzing with the config file but I never remember how.

How are the adventure games in the Star Trek bundle? I don't really trust GOG reviews.

I liked them. Episodic in structure well before 'episodic gaming' was a real thing, giving a nice flavour of the TV show, and a fun lives/scoring system (each mission has one 'redshirt', who will die in your place if you screw up; bonus points, of course, if they live). That said, the ship combat really doesn't work all that well.

For some reason, whenever I try to do Dosbox full screen, GOG or no, I get an imaged stretched outside the screen. I've messed with tons of setting and have made it worse, but never better. I usually just go windowed.

The is no "The Next Generation - A Final Unity" in that Star Trek bundle. Even worse, it isn't even available on GOG! What a shame..

Don't listen to those degenerates. While it doesn't compare to the likes of Dragon's Dogma or Soulsborne, the combat in Witcher 3 is still adequate

If they didn't like the second game's combat they won't like the third game. The combat is not for everyone. It is not for me. I play them in spite of the mediocre combat because I like exploring these worlds. I cringed every time I have to fight something though, especially early on after playing a game with decent combat. It is mitigated later in the game when you level up but the first few hours were a complete slog because of the combat for me. Warning someone of a like mind does not make them a degenerate. Unless degenerate is some reference from the game, then I guess I can go plow myself.

I imagine they're working on the rights for that, but Star Trek is a rights nightmare right now due to the Paramount/CBS split, plus whatever's going on the game side of stuff.

And Witcher 3 will be ~$25 or less in a couple of days for any console platform. There will be good reason to wait if you prefer to play on a console. Just saying.

This isn't the best price.

I am more with the others in that if you can swing it get the D&D games.

This only further reminds me that there isn't a Star Trek game as good as FTL and that makees me kind of sad... Seriously, someone get on this already!
