alright, I'm finally getting around to hooking up galleries on my website. I never expected Wordpress to be such a bitch, but it has been painful.

Anywho, I have two image styles in need the powerful minds at GAF to help me with deciding So for I have a master gallery which are links. style one is band name and venue the show was at, and style two is the image with just the band name.

Style One

Lower-left and Upper-right being the styles I reckon?!

Like Shogmaster, I find them very similar.

And that White Stripes picture is perfect dude!

Having difficulty discerning the two styles, chief.

I like the band name with the venue -- gives it a sense of time/place -- but I'd make the font on the location smaller/different color/etc. so the band name sticks out more.

Shouldn't they be easier to discern without a lengthy explaination?

Even after reading, they are too similar. Looks good, but since I have to choose between the two, I say too close to call.

A few notes:

1. "Casanova", not "Cassinova" :) Unless that's how the band spells it, of course.
2. Just the band name is fine. If you decide to keep the location name, it should be smaller, but...
3. ...the font needs to be heavier. i'm guessing that's a 24pt font you've got. If you drop the location down to 18pt, it'll be hard to read.
4. Some of the letters could use kerning. This isn't necessary, but it'll make the end result look better. In a nutshell, kerning is the invisible space (aka "white space) between two characters. In the example below, notice how the U and G look closer than the V and A?

Assuming you're using Photoshop, it's on the character palette, depicted by the "A\V" with the arrows. It's normally greyed out unless you put the cursor between two characters. i'd use kerning of about -25 between the L and Y, -50 between the O and V, and -100 between the V and A.

5. Personally i think the ones with the text at the bottom look better. i think it would also look better if you had them all left or right justified, even if it means flipping the background. It just gives everything a more cohesive look.
