Most Japaneses are indeed smaller than most westerns.

The box have about the same dimensions than PS4 original box... it is a bit more fat... I guess about 60-70% fatter.

What do you mean? They could have made the PS5 and dualsense images smaller. Or use a horizontal image of PS5. Or make the box vertical.

But cropping the image at the bottom is just bad graphic design and it really bothers me lol.

It is not cropped... it is a continuous image that flow to the bottom of the box.
Imagine when the paper before bend to make the box it shows the full image.
