Because this is nothing more than his job on the side. The only reason why publications bother emailing him for quotes is because his comments attract a swarm of flies.

The guy thinks he knows what he's talking about, but anyone with common sense and a basic understanding of the industry disagreed with this prediction. And they were right.
He probably tells this to the public and the reverse to his investors. Which means more monies for his investors.
He is a genius, I tell ya.
apparently he sells counseling to even more extraneous and inapt people than even he is.
I have no problem with that. I can see gaming industry today is full of irrelevant people that are in it for the money.

Okay so I like Pachter but this does make his quote in the shift episode about how most gaffers don't understand the industry seem a little ridiculous. We all could see from a million miles away that this game would be a huge bomb. Feel bad for insomniac, hope they have the sense to make a traditional ratchet game for ps4

Also, can someone enlighten me what's so great about Resistance? I played the first one on the PS3 cause of all the rave reviews....I was bored out of my mind. (Well slight exaggeration but you get the idea). I mean the weapons were novel and fun, but that's about it. The gunplay was subpar and the environments didn't even look that great back then. The story was not bad though. But gameplay. No.

That one was pretty strange. I think he has an actual beef with TakeTwo. I kind of imagine why, their business strategy of pouring endless cash into something until it's ready must be an impossible thing to recommend people support by investing in stock, it's worked much more often than it's failed (Mafia 2 and MP3), but it has to be frustrating for anyone with his job.
The Fuse thing was different though, that's just some random guess on a video, it's not investor guidance.

Hey man, game predictions are a hobby of his, not his job. So obviously he can be wrong as often as he likes.

I doubt most of his clients pay attention to these sort of things and it probably doesn't affect what they actually him for.
But seriously, some of his predictions don't make sense, and are way off base than the usual you win some you lose some. Likely due to his lack of understanding consumer trends (which is logically never an easy thing to understand), and the issue all analysts face when they're not part of the consumer group in question (It's harder to predict whether a group of people will receive something well when you don't share much common interests with them).
This is likely why the predictions aren't his actual job and they don't pay him for this.
