So long as all platforms sell well, everyone benefits in the end.
they weren't buying $500 consoles. If xbox one does poorly through 2014, the mainstream will ignore it when it gets to their pricepoint.

Money, money, and more money
Microsoft has a deal with Activision wherein they pay for Call of Duty's massive advertising budget in exchange for 30-day DLC. It has nothing to do with a 2 million sales difference.
Probably going to happen. Mainstream gamers, particularly those in America, are bleeding morons. They'll swallow the $100 price difference in a second as long as it gets them their damned Call of Duty.
Not really, not if the customer sees the value in it.I can see the Xbox One's momentum building up between now and launch in the US. I don't think it will sell ad much as the PS4 though. That $100 difference is a game changer.
Majority of the library is the same yet one is $100 more.
Of course, we haven't heard yet of subsidies from ISP but they're coming, I'm pretty confident about it.
This
Kinect sold for 150 yet sold a lot and pushed Microsoft further into the lead in America. I think many people will feel the $100 is justifiable for a better kinect. If I recall, the more expensive 360/kinect bundles sold quite well.
You don't think Microsoft's shiny new TV integration and multitasking OS nonsense is going to get that same hype? If the new Kinect is as functional as the demos show, you don't think that will cause some word-of-mouth buzz?Ehhh that was during the Kinect hype phase that has seemingly died off, as there are few games that support the thing.
Okay, this is really starting to sound like the Gamecube defense.$100 more weaker and without the First party studios Sony has.
It'll make a difference in Microsoft's main territories, it already has in the UK.

Before the DRM policies change, XO games were nearly non existent in this list. Now they're prominent.
Worldwide? PS4 will dominate the XO.
Those Amazon best-sellers are for the past x units of time only. A better picture can be obtained by looking at the 2013 year:

Why is that sad? Do you really find it so inconceivable that people could be interested in a DRM-less Xbone that you think it's 'sad' that now that the DRM is gone people are willing to buy it?
Ehhh that was during the Kinect hype phase that has seemingly died off, as there are few games that support the thing.
I think a lot of you experts need to shut the hell up and wait to see how this plays out.
US/UK - Sure, probably
Worldwide - lol
Yeah, I think it's pretty weak, at the least. Giddily jumping back on ship because Microsoft decided to whisper sweet nothings in your ear is terribly reactionary and emotional, in my opinion. Their intent was clear, and they only changed because they felt like they had to, and I wouldn't be surprised if they start changing things back to the way they were originally planned bit by bit if the Xbone becomes successful.
It's as "sad" as it would be if people had jumped (despite their loathing of the DRM stuff) because MS announced a game that they liked at E3. "Well, I hate what they're trying to do to me as a gamer, but oh man, I just love me some Halo!"
I keep hearing this, but it's the cost of less than two new games, spread out over 6-7 years. Do people really not think things through more than that?
I have a PS4 preordered with no plans to get an Xbone, but I really don't see $100 at launch as a major factor in the long run. That could easily be made up by a subsidized SKU or any other number of factors.
So long as all platforms sell well, everyone benefits in the end.
Why? The hardcore who played strictly 360 for sports/COD/BF will be right in line for it, especially now. The extra 100 is for the Kinect, which some obviously don't want, but it is cheaper than buying the first Kinect.
A bugatti only costs two dollars per hour for ten years. Easy as pie, right? You can stretch anything out like that, yet it doesn't make it anymore viable for everyone because they need to drop those $500 + tax that very moment.I keep hearing this, but it's the cost of less than two new games, spread out over 6-7 years. Launch or not, Japan is Sony's for free when it comes to the PS4 vs. 180.
Their only threat in that region is Nintendo.
not with that price it wont

It will. The PS3 sold fairly well during the first year despite a high price and worse 3rd party support. The US and UK will continue to carry Microsoft's platforms to the clouds.
