PacMan Revealed for Smash. Bros

Ryu in Smash would be cool. I wonder how they'd go about his inputs. Would they convert them to Smash controls or give him a gimmick where he does quarter-circles and stuff?
His own control scheme would make sense. It would at least make him stand out compared to Mario and Luigi, who are essentially the Ryu and Ken of Smash (just look at their movesets and you can see the shoto inspiration).

I expected PacMan to be revealed at some point. I'm very relieved that they used his design from the World games instead of the terrifying Ghostly Adventures redesign.

This actually makes me really happy. I still play my copy of PacMan World 2 from time to time and that design is my favorite, so I'm glad they went with it. Thanks to Sakurai for the great choice.

Still would've been amazing if they could have shown it at the end of the invitational, though.

This is great news.
For me, Snake is now the only character that I really want them to include.
Wario is already pretty much a given. (right?)
Furthermore, while I never played as him, I also think R.O.B. should make a return.
Oh, and I also wouldn't mind them bringing back Captain Falcon and Ness.

Classic Pac Eyes gave me hope and the moveset sealed the deal, I will accept you Pac Man, I just thought things could've gone horribly wrong but who am I doubt Sakurai?
I guess that's it for third party characters, Oh Simon Belmont, the smash world just isn't ready for your whip cracking.

In other news I don't like this whole potentially cut Lucas rumour at all.

But more than Snake I would say. Honestly while Snake was cool, he was out of place in the universe.
Oh I absolutely agree, but then most kinda cartoony/Nintendo affiliated characters would fit way better than Snake. Doesn't mean they should be in.

Perfect.

He's probably an unlockable character and Sakurai doesn't reveal unlockable characters like Luigi and Jiggs.

Maybe Ridley is an unlockable character too...

BELIEVE
Meh we'll once again know a month before anyway thanks to lack of a global release again. ;\

Go back in time because he is not going to be there. Brawl had 39 and Sakurai said he did not want to expand the roster, so the most we are getting is 40 and 35 of the slots are taken up (including the leaks).
Sakurai said similar things about Melee's line up being the "limit" before Brawl's release, and yet Brawl didn't end up with 26-30 characters. If this game really ends up with a line up around Brawl's own, it'd be really disappointing, considering how the main fighting engine seems unchanged, aside from balance tweaks, and this game doesn't even have something like Subspace Emissary.

Ah, did not know about him changing his mind at the end. In that case, I hope it ends up 45 so no fan favorites like Ness get cut. The only ones I really want announced are Chrom and Falco honestly.

I don't care about Rayman, but it'd be cool if they had a "guest stars" list representing major Japanese publishers.

SEGA -> Sonic
Capcom -> Mega Man
Konami -> Simon Belmont
Namco -> Pac-Man
Squaresoft -> Terra or Chrono
Tecmo -> Ryu Hayabusa
Hudson -> Bomberman

Bomberman, Simon and Ryu are iconic characters from the NES era. Terra / Chrono are beloved characters from the SNES-era Squaresoft. It'd be cool to have them in Smash.

Crono was in one videogame and is not apart of the SE's two most iconic series: Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. Black Mage makes more sense, both classic, contemporary, and numerous in references (also wouldn't be another sword user, while magic users are much rarer). EDIT: Haha, Slime would be fun.

Also I think people assume Smash participants should lean towards the NES and SNES, when I don't see any reason why. EDIT: Well, I know why: biased nostalgia.

One more.

Taito > Bub

Blows bubbles, shoots rainbows that you can drop onto opponents by jumping on them, can get the umbrella from Parasoul Stars, and can unleash Darius ships and Arkanoid bosses.

Pac man makes me so happy, he's perfect. Did anyone else notice the Mappy trampoline as an item in the trailer? Hnnnnnng.

WHY WAS THIS NOT IN THE DIRECT?

Just got online now and earlier was thinking back on the smash stuff in the Digital Event thinking how weird it was there wasn't a Pac-Man reveal since this is the last place to do a big announcement and Pac-Man is definitely bigger than Palutena. Looks great though, got the right Pac design.

/cry

It happened. :)
Just missing another blue bomberman in that pic.

=(
This pic makes me feel that THEORICALY, they CAN add Crash Bandicoot to the cast, since he is not exclusive to Sony anymore.

It would NEVER happen, but would be awesome even if not for the "lol smash has crash and PASBR don't
