Rockstar/Take 2 debut at No1 with the long-anticipated ‘Red Dead Redemption’ for 360/PS3. It is the second All Formats No1 this year for Take 2 (‘Bioshock 2’ made No1 in week 6, 2010) and the first Rockstar/Take 2 All Formats No1 since ‘GTA IV’ back in week 18, 2008.

Overall sales of ‘Red Dead Redemption’ are enough to rank No11 in terms of best ever weekly sales on this particular chart (9th best in terms of 360 titles, 11th best in terms of PS3 titles). EA’s ‘2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa’ (-25%) drops down to No2 after 3 weeks on top and Ubisoft actually climb one place to No3 with perennial favourite ‘Just Dance’ (-13%). Nintendo climb 5 places to No4 with ‘Wii Fit Plus’ (+20%).

Disney Interactive Studios debut at No5 with ‘Split/Second: Velocity’ for 360/PS3 and Ubisoft debut at No9 with multi-format ‘Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands’ – the film of the 2003/2004 videogame ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ has also just been released at the box office. The last of this week’s new releases is Sony’s PS3/PSP ‘Modnation Racers’, debuting at No10.

One week they're including the split between 360/PS3 versions for the top game in their write up, next week they don't. :-(

No surprise at the split, apparently PS3 version was under shipped and was sold out in many places, not to mention the much larger userbase of 360. I'm not sure if online comparisons between the two had any impact on sales.

POP's price is gonna drop fast. releasing at the same time as the movie really backfired on them, guess they won't be doing that again.

Slightly surprised that 360 RDR is on top, given that several PS3 multiplatform titles have been outperforming their 360 counterparts lately. There was talk of a PS3 shortage, no?

Wow, POP tanked.

PS3 version didn't ship before release day in the UK or Scandinavia I believe due to some production issues.

Noticed in a couple of supermarkets over the weekend that they were all out of stock of PS3 RDR, but they had lots of 360 stock. Clearly a production/distribution fuck up somewhere. I did wonder if the PS3 version would even reach second on this chart.

ModNation Racers did better than I expected though.

Mod Nation / Prince of Persia bomba?
I don't think ModNation had much in the way of expectations. I imagine it will sell acceptably over time relative to the budget.

As for Prince of Persia though, I think Ubisoft has finally managed to kill the franchise.

Next up on the kill list seems to be Ghost Recon, followed by a failure to relaunch Driver and losses that make this year's losses not seem that bad in comparison.

Is anyone really surprised by PoP bomba? After that 2008 abomination, I doubt anyone wants to play PoP again. Probably sold some copies to poor souls who wanted to play it after seeing the film. :lol

Going by Capcom's expectations, I see a Lost Planet 2 bomba. Capcom better had a big first shipment and if that happened they better start praying retailers don't slash the prices immediately.

LP was severely reduced in price even before launch (at least it was on shopto).

But, since it's a bad game, and the 1st one wasn't really brilliant either, no one should be surprised.

What were ww estimations? I think I saw 2.5m somewhere and going by this numbers, it's gonna miss that by a long shot. :lol

PoP 2008 was one of my favourite games of the year; but it was not a PoP game - it was a rhythm game disguised as a platformer with a beautiful artstyle.

Modnation has a exceptional start. The game will live by the word of mouth and DLC content. I think it well do rather well just like LPB did.

I loved POP08 as well, but i can see why many people don't like it. Guess Ubi messed up the franchise.

They expected 2.2 million. They will probably miss this target by something, but the real bomba comes with Dead Rising 2. :lol

At first they hoped to sell 3.7 million :lol :lol

Great to see Alan Wake succeeding in non-Microsoft territories:D

Was not expecting that great of a split. I suppose the low stock was the case.

Hmm, Alan Wake looks to be doing decent in Euroland. Good to see at least.

Europe seems to like Allen Wake. Good stuff!

Yep I'm glad it didn't drop too much this week, fantastic game, a lot of people talking about it and enjoying the story.

MH3 @ No. 3 and Red Steel 2 @ No. 8 in the Wii only chart. YAY!

Fragile and Rune Factory Frontier in the Wii only chart at all. YAY!

Sin and Punishment @ No. 27 :rage!:

so it will be reduced in a few days to below £20 to shift it?

Also the Xbox version is much better looking.

Wish it was like that in Edinburgh. Loads of PS3 copies, no 360 copies. I tried about 7 shops.
