No kidding. Makes me want to take a look at translations, it must be hilarious to find out what names they came up with.:lolRaist said:Getafix ? Miraculix ? The hell is this shit. It's Panoramix ffs
Out of curiousity, what english mistakes did he make? I see that he used "an" where it should be "a" instead, and maybe there should be a "," after "but hey" (correct me if i'm wrong though), but is there anything else than than? I'm not a native english speaker myself so i'm just wonderingBishopLamont said::lol Way too late to the party dude. Oh and nice way to butcher the english language too. Half a year of Nintendomination and these homer people thinks sales for Nintendo platforms are going to drop following the months before the real holidays begin.
That's basically it, I don't mean to offend any non-native English speakers, but it was really annoying reading posts like that, and it was more poking fun at him then anything serious.test_account said:Out of curiousity, what english mistakes did he make? Panoramix? Pfft, after looking it up the best one is definetly Büyüfiks.Raist said:Getafix ? Miraculix ? The hell is this shit. It's Panoramix ffs

I'm sure the game is 5M world wide, but with New Super Mario Bros still hitting the charts world wide, and Galaxy isn't, I wonder what they think.

2. Yes, a REAL problem for nintendo if mario galaxys ltd will "only" be like 7-8 mil
poor nintendo....
JavyOO7 said:Err, I just expected it to be the leading title for the Wii in terms of sales. /shrug
Relax dude, I think he was only asking an honest question. Anyways there's nothing to worry about, like Zelda, it's their pinnacle when it comes to gaming, sure they might add some gimmick in the new versions, but it'll still be the same fun we all love.cw_sasuke said:1. SMG is STILL sellin.

Hah. I want translated names for the chief please. He's Vitalstatistix (kind of fitting for this thread) in the English version.SovanJedi said:Oh Christ, what've I done? D:

From wikipedia:Pancakes R Us said:Hah. I want translated names for the chief please. He's Vitalstatistix (kind of fitting for this thread) in the English version.
In English, his name is a pun on Vital statistics the government birth and death records of a region and also an expression for a person's measurements (a comment on his size). In the American translation, he was Macroeconomix from macroeconomics.
In Catalan, he is Copdegarròtix ("cop de garrot" "club hit")
In German, Greek and Scandinavian, he is Majestix from majestic; similarly in new Dutch translations he is Heroix from heroic.
In Esperanto he is Moŝtiks ("via moŝto" your highness)
In Finnish he is Aladobix, referring to 'aladobi', a Finnish jelly-like dish containing meat
In Hungarian, he is Hasarengazfix, which means 'His belly surely shakes'
In Polish, he is Asparanoiks, referring to 'paranoia', the fear of sky falling on his head.
In Turkish, Toptoriks, alluding to his roundness.
In Brazilian Portuguese, his name is usually shortened to Abracurcix.
In Hindi translation, his name is mentioned as मुखिया मोटुमालिक्स (Mukhiya Motumallix), which literally means, 'The Fat Chief'
In Bengali , the chief has a name phonetically similar to some extent to his English one . It's "Bishalakritix" taken from the root "bishalakriti" which aptly means "of huge proportions".
In Hebrew, his name is לוחמאמיקס (lokhem-amix), meaning 'brave warrior'.
In Serbian, He is Дрматорикс (Drmatoriks/Drmatorix), from "drmator", a slang term for Communist era movers and shakers ("drmati" means "to shake")
In Welsh, he is Einharweinix, from ein harweinydd (our leader)
I ... uh ... WHATZ??Phife Dawg said:From wikipedia:<snip>

Asterix & Obelix comics have been translated into many, many languages. Here in Germany we even have translations for regional dialects like Friesisch and Plattdeutsch. I guess Friesisch and Esperanto have roughly the same number of active speakers today (Esperanto apologists will probably stake and burn me :lol ).bcn-ron said:I ... uh ... WHATZ??

Thanks for correcting doicare and basically debunking his theory. What he claims to see is obviously nothing more than statistical noise. Much appreciated.lochnesssnowman said:snip
_Alkaline_ said:I don't have a link but during a Nintendo press conference, Iwata showed a chart detailing the sales of Wii games up until March 31, 2008. Galaxy was past 6 million. Thus, I'm sure it'll be quite a bit higher by now. I think Nintendo would be fine with its sales, though it clearly doesn't have the outstanding legs and appeal of something like NSMB. Why? I'm not sure. Maybe it's the fact Galaxy is in 3D? Perhaps that isn't as appealing to as many people who would prefer 2D Mario like the good old days?
As for Super Mario 64, it sold nearly 12 million worldwide.

Sega said they sold 1.35 million in the UK, and we know the DS version broke 300k last month, so it's safe to assume the Wii broke a million. It'll receive the ESPLA award when they release the June awards.Kenka said:So, it is widely known that M&S broke the million bar in the UK ?

The present numbers are the latest figures available for the listed titles thanks to the ELSPA awards and some additional information from Chart-track and the constructers.
