PAL Charts - Week 46, 2013

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 first week - 1,540,000
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 second week (-81%) - 294,000

COD: BO2 - 294,000
COD: BO2 360 (59%) - 173,460
COD: BO2 PS3 (40%) - 117,600
COD: BO2 PC (1%) - 2,940

I'll edit my post as suggested by you later :D
Well, there's clearly a decline.

The question is how much of a factor PS4 & Xbone are.

Nonetheless, I don't believe they'll push the game much after they are released.

Anyway, COD can't achieve these sales forever*, the question is: what's the future baseline.

*If they follow their current yearly update strategy.

I assume these charts don't account for download sales? With R&C Nexus being a smaller title I imagine (hope) it will have done reasonably well when it comes to PSN downloads. I doubt it's quite pushing CoD off the top spot, but it will probably have done better than 28th on the charts would imply.

It doesn't seem a lot, but i'm chuffed that Lego Marvel did around 4000 copies on Wii U. Much better than the 850 or so Arkham Origins did.

LCU went in at 12 right - does anyone remember roughly how much it did for comparisons sake?

It really isn't.
Mario & Sonic is for kids. Relatively few kids own a WiiU.

Its still largely in the hands of the early-adopting Nintendo Faithful who are awaiting Mario 3D World. Simple.
You're right but ultimately you have two, arguably three of the biggest brands in the world teaming up in a sequel to one of the most ever green titles on the Wii
The first Mario & Sonic Olympic title has sold over two million units in the UK alone
MCV It's just a massive failure on Nintendo's part, they appear to be completely unable to convert any of those people to the WiiU.

Having the launches staggered makes it difficult to judge. Best to wait for simultaneous launches later.

Meanwhile UK market has fallen behind last year significantly but could go back up again as console launches push lots of full price software through retail. Very curious to see where the market ends the year.

The total market will be up significantly year on year, last year had a very poor end because Wii U shifted almost zero additional software. Both the PS4 and Bone will be leagues better in that respect.

That will be quite fun to watch, then! w00t!

Why wait that long? We'll see which performs better every week the charts come in.

Zelda, Pokemon and 3DS evergreens should also do well if the 2DS shifts a lot of hardware at £99. Last year had a perfect storm of shit, poor economy, lame next generation console, massive generational fatigue for PS3 and 360, and massive apathy towards 3DS and Vita. This year it's mostly reversed except the fatigue with PS3 and 360 , which still exists but is less relevant with PS4 and Bone on the scene.

Even Vita could see a mini revival over the next few weeks. Sony have stepped up the marketing hugely and they have bundles at £149 with a bunch of games included. I only expect these deals to get better as Xmas approaches.

In addition, there has been a marked turnaround in the UK economy over the past year, we have seen 1.7% YoY GDP growth so far and the final quarter is looking at around 3.5% at an annualised rate taking the YoY figure to 2.6%, that will figure into consumer spending on luxury goods like games consoles.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
It’s been almost exactly 8 years since the launch of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 (Week 48-2005) and this week we welcome Microsoft’s Xbox One. In terms of hardware sales, 80% of all home consoles sold this week were Xbox One and this new platform outsold the week 1 for Xbox 360 by a factor of 2. There are 16 launch titles for Xbox One of which 14 actually debut this week (2 titles were released last week). 10 out of these 16 appear in the All Formats Top 40 (exactly the same number of titles appeared in the Top 40 of week 48/05). EA’s ‘FIFA 14’ (+328%) returns to No1 after a 7 week absence – the lead format is the new Xbox One version, which is the biggest selling Xbox One game thanks of course to the ‘Xbox One Day 1 FIFA 14 Edition’ (featuring a download token of the game, included here). In fact the PS4 version of ‘FIFA 14’ also debuts here, a week before the launch of PS4 hardware. Activision Blizzards’ ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ (-16%) drops to No2 after 2 weeks at the top (Xbox One/PS4 versions both out prior to this week). EA’s ‘Battlefield 4’ climbs 2 places to No3 (+134%) thanks to the new Xbox One version and Ubisoft remain at No4 with ‘Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’ (+123%) with Xbox One and PS4 versions both out this week. In terms of Xbox One exclusives Microsoft’s ‘Forza Motorsport 5’ debuts at No5 as the largest of these and also featured as a Hardware/Software Day 1 Edition. Second in the list of Xbox One exclusives at No7 is Microsoft/Capcom’s ‘Dead Rising 3’, with Nintendo taking the next biggest new release at No9 with 3DS ‘The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds’. The third biggest Xbox One exclusive is right behind at No10 – Microsoft’s ‘Ryse: Son of Rome’.

Given last week numbers, this also means that

FIFA 14 (+328%) - 177,500
111,476 < Call of Duty: Ghosts (-16%) < 125,874
Battlefield 4 (+134%) - 72,168
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (+123%) - 69,032

Oh, almost forgot...we HAVE some other hardware numbers (sort of)

Xbox One launch 2x Xbox 360 launch
Xbox 360 launch - 70,000
Xbox One launch - 140,000

Xbox One launch represents 80% of the whole home console market

Total home console market - 175,000

So, PS3 + 360 + Wii + Wii U - 35,000

That's really, really low for this time of year. But it's no surprise as it just shows how saturated the market is. XB1 and PS4 are needed more than ever.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Obviously, this week's chart is heavily influenced by Xbox One's debut, so lots of debuts and, then, titles being at the bottom / slightly out of top 40 have still high sales for their places...but Need for Speed: Rivals doesn't seem to have had a good debut, after all.

CoD XB1 under the 360 version is odd though.

And AC PS4 is barely under the XB1 version despite the console not being out.
