Alright, you bastards, I got the game - regular version. I hope I get to play with some of you starting the day after tomorrow.

Anyone know any good VPNs that can be used to unlock the game on US release?

I really don't want to have to deal with a three day wait in the UK, I might go with Tunnelbear.

Weird how the dev/publisher has broken even on this game before it's even released but the OT here isn't bustling with activity.

GAF isn't the best place to judge the popularity of a lot of games.

That and this game seems like one that's talked about more while playing it feverishly. My crews and I have clocked an insane amount of hours in the beta but have yet to really post much about it on any forum. It's just one of those anomalies I guess.

So the A.I. looks really crappy in this game..is that about right? I saw a vid of a guy solo-stealthing a heist and used a blaring thermite-based drill to get the vault door open, and all the while an office worker about fifteen feet away was chilling out with his legs perched on the table apparently not giving a fuck.

It kind of destroyed the vibe of the whole thing for me. It's beta footage, mind you..

There is a stealth drill perk which makes your drills silent.

it's not a hardcore stealth game, so if you're expecting that you'll be disappointed.

with that said the stealth is somewhat abstracted, your equipment affects your visibility and npcs take a somewhat longish time to notice you.

you shouldn't approach it as a stealth game, just think of it as a shooter with light stealth mechanics because that's kind of what it is

It depends how you view the AI, really. At first I thought they were crappy, like extremely crappy, but they do have their uses. They cannot help you at all with the objective of the stages, and don't expect them too, but they actually are pretty good at shooting cops and dodging shots, they will usually either gather around you or where enemy assaults are happening to defer bullets, and those sons of bitches will literally suicide through anything (and usually successful at it) to get you up if you're downed. In multiplayer, one AI player can be invaluable to up downed players.

I'll agree partially, but I also disagree partially. It isn't a full on stealth game, but actually the stealth element has been greatly improved since the first game in my opinion. But instead of tackling it with a mindset of a full-fledged stealth game as there's no shadow hiding elements or anything (though sound does count), try and tackle it like a group of criminals, and instead of always focusing on not especially getting seen all the time, focus more on making sure no one can call the police or trigger an alarm, which involves stealth sometimes and can be done for a while, but often only to get in position to crowd-manage everyone and get them down. One thing to note is that music is actually very important to this, you can tell when someone is starting to get suspicious of you or is on the verge of alerting the police usually by the dynamic music picking up or getting more intimidating or heated.

I am thankful the group of friends I've been playing with try to stealth at the start most of the time instead of going in guns blazing, but if we get caught we take that approach. A lot more fun to try and get things to works quietly, and either go forward with that, or for things to snowball and get heated.

yeah I mean in the way that it doesn't work with the usual light & shadow and line of sight stealth pillars

it's its own beast, you still have to hide bodies, use silent weapons and stay out of sight, just a little different that how you're used to

Also, for anyone who's curious, I finally got my hands on a near-full heist list of what will appear in the full game. Keep in mind this isn't every level in the game, there's one heist which I've added to the list as it's in the achievements but not in the listing, but it shows a lot more and what to expect in scope for the game.

Heists Known:
01.) Safehouse (1 day)
02.) Jewerly Store (1 day)
03.) Four Stores (1 day)
04.) Nightclub (1 day)
05.) Bank Heist (1 day) [Three different versions, 2 in the beta; Deposit, Cash, &
Gold
]
06.) Watchdogs (2 days)
07.) Rats (3 days)
08.) Framing Frame (3 days)
09.) Firestarter (3 days)
10.) Welcome to the Jungle (2 days)
11.) Ukrainian Job (1 day)
12.) Mallcrasher (1 day)
13.) First World Bank (1 day)
14.) Heist: Casino (1 day)
15.) Snitch Snatch (2 days)
16.) Drought Day (5 days)
17.) Bring Me The Head Of Armando Garcia (3 days)
18.) Dead Drop (2 days)
19.) War Is Fantastic (3 days)
20.) Cinderella (5 days)
21.) Turf War (3 days)
22.) On Display (2 days)
23.) SPOILER
Election Day
(3 days)
24.) Big Oil (Unknown days, this one wasn't leaked out but is on the achievement list)

DLC Heist:
DLC: Armored Transport (confirmed to be free for those who pre-order)

Escapes:
Escape: Cafe
Escape: Park
Escape: Street
Escape: Overpass
Escape: Overpass Night
Escape: Garage

Scores (I personally don't know what these are, but they're listed like escapes, my guess is they're like escapes, except lucky as opposed to unlucky and a random chance to 'score'):
Score: Airport
Score: Crackhouse
Score: Yacht
Score: Docks
Score: Crossing

A reminder that this isn't specifically a full listing, such as the seven-day heist wasn't mentioned in the files, and one heist in the achievements wasn't in the files either.

Eager to see Ps3-Material. Not really worried but it's kind of weird that they wouldn't show us any material. Will probably buy it in a few months when my backlog is through.

Damn, they put in a lot of heists.

This gon' be good.

The first games was PS3 console only. I wouldn't worry too much.

Will they be keeping the console versions updated with this kind of stuff too then?

They did patch the Ps3 version of the first game a fair bit, and did add stuff that was missing at launch.

However, it did not receive the same level of support as the PC version, which had many things added to it, including a new and free heist that never made it to console version.

I would expect the same again, simply because it's easier for them to add stuff to the PC version than the console versions.

I don't know enough about this game, but why is that a spoiler?

I think simply because it's one of the heists that people have been asking for a lot since the first game.
A casino heist and heisting the White House have been two very requested heists, and a heist named Election Day, most likely, is set at and around the White House/pentagon

I pre-ordered mine last week. I like to think I was the reason they broke even considering the news came out the next day. Has there been any word on an official release for 360/PS3 retail?

I just hope there won't be too many garbage / filler missions from that big list, with a lot of them being really good and fun to play.

I usually hate stuff like this but there is currently a petition to get the voice actor for Hoxton from the first game back. Devs themselves have said it is very possible they could do something like a DLC voice pack if there is enough support from the community but first step is the petition reaching its goal.

https://www.change.org/petitions/ov...-hoxton-s-va-as-a-dlc-pack-or-through-a-patch

So if you take the time to sign it will really help.

Signed!

"You're gonna lay down, and you're gonna shut up!"

Love Hoxton. Though Chains is pretty badass too, in the beta. Giving hostages the stare saying "WHAT'D I SAY" when they try to run.

While I own the original I never played I much.. Tried this beta and damn what a fun game!! Only thing that annoys me is the inability to close doors..
