PC Drivers for Xbox One controller are out.

I love how we get a pathetic "Hey guys... It's Halo 2 with our latest controller." Why can't the other Halo games be released on PC?

Do you think we'll get burned for being early adopters by having the wireless adapter available only as a pack-in with another controller? That's basically how it was with the 360 controller if I recall. You had to buy the "Xbox 360 controller for Windows" pack, but eventually there were enough adapters floating around that they became available to be purchased individually from small vendors.

Got a controller today only to discover that Vista isn't supported by these drivers. Yes, yes, what am I doing on Vista? I don't know. I wanted an xbox one aaanyway but I won't be getting one for a few months at least. Good to know I'll have two controllers for it though. Hopefully there is soe work around at some point to use the controller on vista though.

I have made a huge mistake.

Is there a way to upgrade it's firmware without a Xbox One? I remember there was at least one update for it on Xbox One.

So far I'm really enjoying the controller, I find that the rumble motors are kinda loud but they do feel great, I've tried SSFIVAE and it worked great, some State of Decay there was feedback while shooting but not driving, Transistor had no forcefeedback.

For some reason, Final Fantasy 7 won't recognize the controller. It does let me rebind the buttons in the settings but when I run the game the controller doesn't work. First game I had an issue with.

In the short-term, possibly. I want to say they used to sell the adapter standalone for a short time, but most of them came from the bundle. eBay sellers would sell the adapter separately for $10-20 while selling the controller separately as well. I got a couple extra adapters that way.

Just installed and everything works fine but when I disconnect I have to resync with xbox one, is this normal, kind of stinks if I have to do this everytime.

Are the drivers on Windows Update yet?

Just because I've ordered an Xbox One Controller and it should arrive this weekend.

Windows Update would just make it easier to download.

Yeah, it's like how the 360 controllers worked. When you hook it up to your PC, it becomes synced to that device. You can use the USB cable and hook it up to the console and it will automatically sync to it again, or just use the buttons like normal.

Or do what I did and just get a dedicated controller for PC.

I don't believe so. I imagine Major Nelson would say something when that happened. I could just use the download links provided. It's super simple.

I just got a xbox one controller and for some reason it is not working for me. I installed the driver, connected with a micro usb cable. The ligh in the controller blinks and turns off.

Do I need to do something else?

Edit: Never mind. I had to install some optional windows updates.

That fucking vibration on connect is the dumbest thing. I keep my controller on a shelf. Whenever I restart my PC, the controller connects, vibrates, and promptly falls off the shelf. And it wakes up my family at night, both the vibration and the falling. Such a useless feature. Isn't the light enough?

hey guys, I'm about to buy an Xbone Controller.

Is there a list of compatible games (2013-2014) that supports this ?

I only have these games on my pc that I would like to use a controller:

watch_dogs
dark souls 2
splinter cell blacklist
dmc

Every multiplat game since 2006 supports it (except Mass Effect series).

It's just an XInput controller - Any game that currently supports the 360 pad (read: almost every single console port, and most PC games that aren't RTS etc.) will work with it.

Yeah - I have it sat on top of my metal PC case. I turn the PC on and it sounds like a jackhammer is going on outside.

Virtually every game that supports a controller made in the past 5 years or so. It works with everything a 360 pad does. Those games will all work.

Your big mistake is to keep using Vista. The controller is anecdotical in comparisson/

I think you need special drivers designed for the arm-cpu in WindowsRT tablets. The current drivers on majornelson.com seem to be for the 'normal' desktop-cpu-systems.
yeah, maybe they were in Windows Update already.
As soon they patch it in I will start San Andreas again.

Just got it, worked like a charm.

Using it on Watch Dogs is awesome.

As for the controller, everything is great except for the fucking LB RB buttons.
those 2 buttons are shit and a downgrade from the 360 controller.

I'd prefer the old ones yeah. There's a "correct way" to use the bumpers on XBO pads and once you get used to it you won't be as bothered. You'll figure it out pretty fast but basically you keep your fingers on the L and R triggers, then apply a little pressure with the middle joint of your index finger to press the LB and RB buttons.

It's pretty efficient, in some ways you could argue that it's "better" for gameplay purposes, even if it feels unnatural or counterintuitive

I have to use the middle part of my index finger to press it instead of the tip so my finger won't get exhausted fast. I guess I have to get used to this.

Anyone know if there are any drivers for Windows RT?

I really want to be able to use my xb1 controller with emulators on my Surface 2.

The Cronus Max dongle may work for you, if you don't mind spending an extra $60. It's pretty versatile; you can use all the last gen and current gen controllers (not sure about the Wii U gamepad) on PC, PS3, PS4, XB1, and the 360. It may work on Vista. I got one in February to use the XB1 controller on PC and PS3 (I hate all the old DualShocks), and it's been working fine for me, despite being a very flimsy product. Since the drivers were released, I've stopped using it on PC, but I haven't noticed a difference.

These games should all work.

Will try and grab one today, good to hear it should work well. Giving up on waiting for Sony to fix that DS4 rubber issue and release drivers.

Damn it! After a few years of good service my XB360 wireless receiver just died on me.

I'm torn between buying another one for my old 360 controllers (if they can still be found) or simply buying an XBO controller and giving these drivers a try.

I guess I could borrow a controller from my brother's PS4, but ugh symmetrical sticks.

Decisions, decisions...

Managed to play with it for a while, liking it so far. x64 drivers crash on startup for me even after repairing/reinstalling but it works fine.

I wonder if impulse trigger will be used on pc, first time to try it in Dead Rising 3?

IDK, but if the driver is essentially emulating the 360 controller, (dunno if it is) I wonder if the extended capabilities of the xbone controller are even accessible to the PC.

Do any games or programs have the ability to discern an xbone controller from a 360 controller?
