Ok the quest is here. I really like it! Compared to S, it's ok comfortable (I prefer google strap like this) and not as heavy as I thought it will be.
The screen is not only sharper than S but the black levels and colors are better. This is the biggest surprise. The software is great(hands!) and it is so good to finally use all of this wireless !

The link is a mixed bag so far. I've only used the charging cable and sometimes it has trouble booting (black screen) and when it does, there is quite some stuttering and it's far from smooth despite game settings. I think it's better with my short oneplus 7t charging cable...
So Maybe there is still a point getting the expensive link cable?
Should both oculus windows app and quest be opted in beta updates for best reuslts?

The Link image quality is good. Just some banding in low gradient areas. but the lag (aside from stuttering) is very low! If I could only make it more reliable and not as stuttery

Google for commonly recommended Link compatible usb 3 and/or active cables. Anker I believe is a good brand for it but you'll need to look up specific models for length and specs for best results. Try different ports too, those directly on the mobo may work better than front case ports.

Just tried out tea for god on quest. It's really interesting. Probably need to disable my guardian showing for this.
It is kinda mind blowing that I can totally walk around my room and these corridors in game. I move sideways in those tiny corridors and step carefully close to the ledge. It's kinda awesome.

I'm planning on building a whole new rig with ryzen 4000 and RTX 3000 parts and figured that might be a good moment to also start looking into VR. I've only been doing rough searches so many of you in here probably know way more than I do, but I've been keeping an eye on the index budle since I have nothing at all here. Hoped for some discount on the summer sale but unfortunately the price didn't even move a bit. Is there any news on a revision for the index or other HMDs coming up soon? I once played some VR games over at a friend's house with the og vive but that was subpar since I had issues zoning out the pixel grid that you could see constantly.. Is this something that newer HMDs like the index took care of?

Pretty much any headset newer than and including the Samsung Odyssey line has solved it in varying degrees. The Reverb G2 might become the best image quality wise from the consumer oriented reasonably priced stuff. But tracking remains to be tested/seen atm.

Seems an update (oculus/windows/nvidia etc, not sure which) is stopping the cameras from tracking

There is currently no fix, so you're left witha bricked headsets til an update or you raise a ticket

As VR is my main source of gaming now, I basically nothing to play and a £400 paper weight

Oculus support is a joke for the rift s, theyve left to die with updates and features, wont be buying another oculus headset in the future, not when you buy a product and are made to feel like a second class citizen to the quest

So Im a PC noob and the last PC i bought was a prebuilt in 2012 with a GTX 680 in it

is it worth it now to buy a prebuilt with a RTX 2080 or should i wait for the 3000 series (which is what I'm hearing alot of PC nerds suggest)

also, after that, which Headset would u recommend that doesn't cost 5 thousand dollars?

There's a PC hardware thread to ask. As for VR kits, high (not 5k, like 1k) budget = Index, medium = Rift S/Quest and low budget old-WMR kits like Samsung Odyssey. Then the upcoming Reverb G2 which will probably fit somewhere between Index and Rift S/Quest. More details/choices in the OP.

Nope, not me. I play Onward occasionally, mostly in co-op. I kinda can't stand anything that doesn't control as intuitively and smoothly while remaining realistic (though I don't mind Contractors either, that feels good too) but I'll probably have to get over it and play more FPS later on

And it's here. But it's a preview, not a review as he had pimped. I've time stamped the tracking stuff...

It's not as in-depth as I hoped for with comparisons, he just shows testing out archery and shooting style actions in Rec Room of all things, but says it's great. I really hope it's the start of a new wave of WMR devices for all price ranges with the same basic specs/quality for all as ~600 is quite steep for many people.
