Persona 5 - PV 04 [New Trailer]

Megami Tensei and Persona has different theme in their games.
Clearly you don't know enough about both franchise to be able to tell the difference.

Also the morbid part is in both franchise, that's what appealed to mature audience.

Persona 5 is closer though to the first Personas, darker, with more mature character design. We're here in the boderline of Seinen genre.

lol What.

I never said Megami Tensei and Persona have the same themes. I'm saying that Persona took Megami Tensei and made it more accessible in terms of aesthetic. Not that their themes are in any way comparable. They do have base similarities (horror for instance), but completely different applications.

I'm not seeing how it's darker or at all? What do you mean by mature character designs? You think the super hero/thief thing is on par with P2:EP cast?

Saying P5 doesnt look like persona is such a huge reach like you gotta be swerving round all the goal posts to try and make that point

Also Saying something went full anime is so weird like this Book just went full book on me lol

New best girl?

New best girl.

I like the style of the game but the character designs look like rearshes from P3/P4

I just wish the series went back to the tone of the first two games. Thank god at least we'll get SMTIV:A

LIke, everything looks 100% baller to me other than the fanservice and motorcycle thing outta nowhere. Atlus has my absolute faith in delivering something that should blow me away. Unfortunately, I just don't see anything that sets this game apart. It's like they took Persona 3 or Persona 4 and added higher production values, while improving dungeon design (this is actually pretty damn awesome, but at the same time I don't know how the stealth is going to work).

As someone who was dead set on this being the best game ever at this time last year, I just don't know what exactly to latch on to that will make this game distinctly memorable other than it looking extremely stylish and polished. There's no feeling of romance that I get looking at this game after and we're four major trailers in. It looks like a cooler P3/P4 in trailers and that's not enough for me. I am hoping my doubts are erased when I finally play this thing, but after this trailer I think I finally understand why I'm not as attached to this as I once was.

It's probably not going to be Seinen, the relationships between the silent main protagonist and their allies simply isn't going to be complex enough for that. That being said, the symbolism, heavy handed as it is, clearly points in dark directioons of freedom vs control, a tad cliche but let's see how it develops.

I really hate the classification of shounen and seinen anyway.

I don't know about others, but actually I see many vibes from P1/P2 on this game. Maybe something crazier, but still very weird.

The guillotines in the trailer have a big V on them, so maybe the whole framework of the story is MC dude trying to prove he's not guilty to Igor and he'll be executed if he fails.

sounds arbitrary to me

A return to demons should be telling that this is true MegaTen

and guns, for that matter

Yes, I'm getting some Persona 2 vibes here.

The series will never be as batshit insane as the first personas, but that's a different era and that's okay.

Some things I haven't seen people mention:

The painting has a backside of the general posing naked.

This is probably the new Die for Me animation, to be more C.S. Lewis-themed.

Ann and Ryuji's skill screens. Ann gets Agi, Maragi, Dia, Dormina, and Tarukaja, while Ryuji gets Zio, Tarukaja, Headbutt, Assault Dive(? It's 突撃, which literally translates to "Assault"), and Mazio.

Phantom's persona screen. Only it has "Persona Change" in the box with the R1 and L1 buttons, so presumably, he's the only one who can change. Scathach has Magarula and "Samidare Slash" (五月雨斬り).

I guess that's what I'm trying to articulate. It just looks really stylish to me, and I'm not seeing anything here that stands out from P3/4 or what I like in Persona. I'm seeing a lot of glitz and style, but not much substance. Maybe it's because they're trailers that I feel this way. But then I watch the SMT4: F trailers and I'm like "strap in." I'm not getting the same feeling from P5.

Do you mind telling us how? I'd like to know your viewpoint on this.

I must say, with all these new super stylish designs, i'm really curious to see how's the main villain going to look.
Expecting a human+Persona and a Shadow like
Adachi and Izanami
.
Hope they'll be as iconic, but i can already tell they'll at least look amazing.

So I was looking at past trailers just now and I noticed this person here in the new trailer

is also here in the third trailer

and they seem to be wearing the MC school shirt. Kinda also looks like the MC. Could be someone from his family. Younger brother maybe?

Dope trailer for what I have no doubt will be a fantastic game.
The limited edition looks gorgeous too, I hope it's not an online retailer kinda deal and I can get one nice and easy through amiami or something.

A better look at the battle commands menu.

[Gun] probably leads to the commands on the right.

This is probably Assist in action, though I don't know if you can control for range or melee.

I found another victory results screen, this one more static and typical. Not sure how the two types will be used in game.

Calendar passage screen.

I didn't gif it, but scrolling around the inside of the red box is probably the 'world map'.

Zone maps from city areas. You can guess at the types of shops and goods available based on the icons shown. No more Junes! (maybe)

Jack Frost spotted in the wild.
Fucking amazing.

What are the chances of Atlus going full on ps2 era Atlus with these new demon assets and making a new console SMT and side stuff like DDS/Raidou?

Morgana's human form. It's neither male or female.

My sentiments exactly.

I will probably import from USA, but the recent trailer has failed to get me hyped beyond the appreciation of the art-style (which is fabulous/good enough to sell me on the game).

Dunno if you've done much reading into the concept behind the game, but if you're wondering whether there will be anything of substance in the game I think some of the inspirations might point the way. Obviously that says nothing about the horror elements you identify with, but I think it does speak to the broader social concerns that might be at the heart of P5.
