I agree with these. Mainly the AI needs work (as usual). I feel like they've nearly gotten the regular AI at a point where I would feel satisfied, but the goal keepers are still complete crap.

When it comes to fouls, that's been a problem for PES the last 10 years or so. I doubt they'll change that anytime soon.

You'd be wise to take everything Adam says with the dead sea worth of salt. The guy is a spews b.s. so smoothly.
 
Looks good, i enjoyed PES 2016 on Xbox One even though i've not been playing it in a while, though what they need to improve are the online modes, that's what FIFA is better on, things like Ultimate Team, Myclub etc are still way better than PES Online modes, and people watch more at those things rather than the gameplay on the field. Also i really hope this time the PC version will be on pair with the console ones and not a downgraded port

Nope, FIFA is far more polished, and has no standout flaw like the PES keepers and refereeing. Not to mention the awful commentators. FIFA has a few niggles and annoyances, like the horrible difficulty spike from Pro to World Class, but nothing so big that it really hurts the game. PES has flaws which I just can't look past. I can't stress enough how much the pathetic goalies ruin the game for me. I've gone and bought the last three PES games because people keep saying its now a FIFA beater, but to me its still got a lot of ground to make up, and is still comfortably second best. I was a massive PES fan, and would love to see it recover its crown, but to say PES 2016 is a return to the glory days is a joke.

YMMV of course.
 
Putting my money where my mouth is and that's not towards Konami anymore. If Fifa doesn't improve this year I just won't play a football game.

This is spot on. Build up play, passing, movement, physical tussles etc were all fantastic last year. Really do think it was the best playing football game in quite some time until it came to the final third. Shooting and goalkeeping was more often than not pretty rank.
 
They need to tone down the pass assistance aswell, the through ball is practically laser guided.

The game still lacks a lot of animations in jostling, collisions, headers, passing & shooting. Hopefully the graphical rehaul and added animations fix this.

I only play multiplayer, so that's no problem for me.

I think the shooting feels wonderful. Sure, keepers and refs could use improvements, but that's been the case for every football game since the very first one came out.

In any case, I'll take an exciting PES (like PES 2015 & 2016) over FIFA blandness any day, warts and all.

It was worse on PS3 to begin with before Sony added copy all and paste feature (2012 IIRC). Things won't change till Sony allow us to copy files on PS4

The shooting is overpowered and the shot variation & trajectory are lacking in PES 2016 unfortunately.
 
I very glad to see the first information out, and I just hope it turns out well. I'll be getting Fifa for sure, but I always hope PES will get me back as well. Really hope it turns out great.
 
The advanced team tactics and adaptive AI sounds really great and has been very much needed, I hope they can deliver. Also I hope they fix the refs like others have stated.

I agree way too many shots from the CPU were almost always in the bottom corners of the goal.

They need to sort out advanced shooting as the basic one is for children and just way too easy (everythings low and with power, virtually impossible to shoot high IIRC) while advanced is the opposite and unless you tap for power you always shoot over/wide.

EDIT: Actually yeah the whole power bar kind needs to be tweaked

True, I'd like them to bring in an option like "semi" shooting on Fifa, where you have more control in the direction, power and pace.

I can use manual but it doesn't feel natural enough for me to feel good to use.

Konami can really bring the more hardcore players in, they just need to have their own vision rather than trying to grab the Fifa crowd.
 
Like I'm going to believe their bullshit ever again.

As always, I'll try the demo and make up my mind from there. Their PR is worthless to me.
 
PES 2016 was pretty disappointing after 2015 imo but I have faith that they can get it right this time. Hopefully they do.
 
apparently a lot of people don't play PES last year
last year was great, a lot better than FIFA imo but their real issue is the Online component
 
I'm just grateful that the basically defunct console developer, Konami, is still supporting this franchise. PES is my second favorite gaming franchise ever, and I would hate to see it disappear. LOVE me some PES!! (
And for me, it has always been great.
)
 
We should hear much more about how the game is shaping up after the upcoming playtest (2nd June, which has no embargo).

I honestly have the time and money to buy this AND fifa but I can't play coop with a friend in this while fifa has had coop seasons for years now.
 
I'm slightly interested and is surely keeping my eye on it, as I do every year. I did skip 2016 though. The talk about a slower pace, and relationship between the ball and player sounds good. As well as less ping pong passing. I won't believe that is actually how it'll play until I see gameplay matches though.
 
I'm eager to bet this will be yet another game that plays nothing like real football. I long for a football game that is true to the sport. Can't we have one? Come on, it is the biggest sport in the world, it's not like nobody likes football!
 
Any word on whether the PC version is a stupid hybrid or the proper version, not interested if they serve us up a inferior version again.
 
Just read the Gamesradar preview (like the Q&A style), sounds like Konami have been listening to the fans about some of 2016's issues, most notably for me, it felt too fast and the roster updates situation was bad. I also hope they at least have unlicensed teams in the right colours this time too.
