Phil Spencer's first time in Japan as VP

i dont know

Miyamoto came up with Zelda, Mario, Star Fox, Pikmin and Donkey Kong.

Phil came up with...yeah. Even if Phil is secretly the mastermind behind Halo it doesn't change much lol.

I don't even know how this is something someone would question. But maybe you're just baiting me.

Phil is the Reggie of Xbox. Other people obsess about Reggie.

The difference is as soon people see the name "Reggie" in a thread title they already have their post ready: "Sure Reggie", "Fuck off Reggie", "I believe it when I see it", even when basic statements are being made. There are these creepy Reggie gifs and pics though...

With Phil you still have people saying how he will turn around the first party division year after year and acting like everytime Phil visits Japan something big will come out of it. It never did so far. Definetly different kinds of obsession going on.

The face of a 1st party company is always going to get a bunch of pro/anti fanboy-ish reactions..You see that for both of them. Also, Nintendo/Reggie leaned into the meme stuff pretty hard when they saw that caught on.

I always go the impression Phil has a lot more freedom to actually make decisions, while Reggie
honestly always seemed more like a PR guy, a western face to a spin on decisions coming from Japan.

Yeah, that comes with the companies they work for kinda automatically.

Jesus, y'all need to cut this conversation out! It's so childish, not that the thread itself is any better.

True, that's probably why I had no problem chiming into the nonsense that already was going on. I really don't see how you can even attempt to compare the two in any respect though. At all.

Sorry there, I caught his response thru your post and somehow caught you in it.

I never considered the original nier niche, so definitely not the sequel. Is it a major blockbuster? Absolutely not but it's not a niche title such as yakuza.

Now I know you don't know what you're talking about.

The original nier is the very definition of a niche game. The sequel is only a little less niche thanks to Platinum's name but it's still not something that is a mainstream title.

Also since someone has brought up Halo Wars, that game is riding on the Halo reputation- the most mainstream franchise out there.

Sad times. I thought Vesperia was top quality

That top quality game sold abysmal on the 360, hence why they will never bother again.

Confirmed meeting with Namco on this trip.

T... that's a bit creepy. Erm...

Hahaha.

Wait you’re serious?

I think he's simply hoping one of these could end up on Xbox, nothing wrong with that. Don't think he really expects all of these to come to the console or anything.

Yakuza, Nioh, Nier and Ni No Kuni 2 would make me very happy but fat chance.

A shame though because we do get several Bamco games, sadly NNK2 not being one of them. Could porting the PC version to Xbox be that hard?

It has nothing to do with the difficulty of porting and everything to do with them not thinking they'll get a return on their investment if they did port it. Bandai Namco will release games on Xbox but only if they're in genres they think will sell on it, so mainly fighting games, Souls-likes and Ace Combat. Whereas JRPGs like Ni no Kuni, Tales of, Digimon and Little Witch Academia avoid it like the plague.

That plus, as I said before, Ni no Kuni is Level 5's game. They're developing it, own the IP and are publishing it in Japan. Bandai Namco merely publishes it outside of Japan.

Mike Ybarra just randomly and also pretty late to the party gave Phil's tweet the Twitter eyes. On mobile just now so can't grab it, but could this trip prove more fruitful than previous ones?

What's this obsession with every single thing Phil does or says?

Same obsession with that idiot Pachter.

MS need those Japanese games even if the Japanese market isnt buying xbox. Theyre not the only ones who are fans of those style of games.

Team Ninja is a division of Koei Tecmo.

There we go, I knew they were part of another developer but I couldn't rmemeberemember who.

Then in this case, bring back that ninja game Namco released a couple years ago. It was like a Ninja Gaiden rip off with a lot of QTEs. Actually wasn't that bad.

Ninja Blade, that's what it was. Give them a proper budget and a good story and let them loose. That game was actually better than Ninja Gaiden 3 though.

Phil Spencer’s fans seem to be similar to the modern Liverpool fan in that regard, I guess.

How's that creepy?

He's a tad to eager. I can't quite place it like... over the top eager?

"OOOH YES! GAENOR IS GOING TO VISIT ME! I CANNOT WAIT! WOOHOOO! Come over as soon as possible NOW NOW NOW!"

That would make youfeel creeped out too right?

In their defence, the Sony fans are also out in droves in this topic. So.... can't really blame them. IT's all the Xbox Fans have at the moment. But I mean, Sony fans can also ramble on and on about Kaz Hirai, so... I don't know feel a bit like it comes from both sides in this regard.

Mind you, the entire argument is just silly to begin with. If they want to make that person into a star (the XBox fans) then why not. Still think MS should have hold onto Peter Moore at the time, as he was legendary. But meh... I'm biased :P.

You consider that creepy?
Erm....

1. I'm Norwegian, you standing next to me waiting for the bus already creeps me out. Please go stand at least 1 meter away from me.
2. Yes I find that creepy. Wouldn't you if my respond to you coming to my country, for a business transaction was "YES! I AM WAITING FOR YOU WATDEAFF!!". As software designer that has to design some software for something you guys sell?

It really is a bit over the top. I don't know... I guess I'm from a country were we rather stand than sit next to someone on a bus or train :P..... sooooo maybe that's the reason :P.
