hm happened to me several times. I've seen way worse though.
you got this in most stealth games nowadays anyway, where people just forget they saw you when you hide long enough even though you've been exposed. only real exception I experienced was metro2033 because people start shouting something like "we have a real douchebag over here" as soon as they spot you/see you killing sb else and then everybody's going to hunt you down. can't think of any other game that handles that similar tbh.
