Planetside 2 graphics on PS4 equivalent to 'Ultra' settings on PC

it'll be 30 fps with a typical 55 degree console fov and the render distance cut down so the cpu doesn't choke

it's not that gpu reliant a game
A friend who still plays this daily told me the multicore patch finally makes the game playable on his phenom II 955BE ,which is probably the reason why we only just now hear from the game on ps4 again, if they didn't manage to make it fully multicore then it wouldn't have released at all

I don't like how framerate was not mentioned even once. Ive gotten too used to smoother play now that the optimizations have hit PC. I don't even have a super powerful PC and I can still stay a good bit above 30-40 fps on high settings.

I don't know if you have even tried the game lately, but they released a patch not too long ago that greatly optimized the game. On my powerful gaming PC it how runs on Ultra at high FPS, no longer limited by the CPU.

There's even more optimizations to do, but it's running pretty good now.

The CPU optimizations they did for the PC version probably helps with the PS4 version, especially since the PS4 and XB1 don't have high end CPUs. But since they focused mainly on CPU optimizations, there's still more room for better GPU usage in time for the PS4 release.

And again, I'm primarily a PC gamer, and you fellow PC gamers need to stop being such children. Gaming is gaming, grow up and just enjoy it all.

The very title has "PC" in it. We spend money on a great hobby because it is interesting to us, getting our games to run the best is sometimes a part of it. But if a developer is saying they won't bother spending time optimizing their games for their primary platform, but oh so excited for a slower platform, we can't even discuss or mention it? Smells like some political correctness bullshit.

Why are people who don't think the game will look as good on a PS4 as it does on PC children? I enjoy my gaming, thanks, but that doesn't mean I can't think some things are silly, such as PS2 running at 1080p, 60fps at ultra on a console.
Of course, I might end up wrong but the graphical fidelity of the games we've seen so far do not give me confidence.

Who are you talking to? The very title is saying "PC". We spend money on a hobby that interests us, and if a developer is saying they are limiting their games around a slower platform, why can't we even discussion or mention it as a relative worry? What is going on, it smells like some condescending political correctness bullshit.

When did the developer say there are limiting anything around PS4 .
Dev says that PS4 version going to look like Ultra on PC and talk about some interface stuff for PS4 also .
A fair amount of post in this thread is just people laughing saying it can't look that way on PS4 .
The topic not even about the PC version .

I don't see any mention of frame rate just ultra setting chance are it be 1080p @30fps .

I don't think it's poorly optimized on PC, Spazznid said he plays on 4k with a single(?) GTX 780.

If it's not 60fps i'm not even gonna bother..

I dont want to deal with input lag again. And now with BF,COD,Killzone,blacklight,.. running mostly at 60 i can't go back.

Competitive shooters should always be 60fps.

People assume that PS4 was the reason for optimisation but devs have hinted that performance was blocking PC release in Russia and China. Both of those are pretty big PC game markets. There are also many PC gamers in the west who couldn't play.

I have no idea how well optimised this game could be for PS4. The devs are pretty open about PC development but not console development.

If this game has a really low field of view on console then I think that would be pretty bad. Tunnel vision would be annoying in this game.

If the developer just turns on "Ultra" on the PS4, it could mean their game is limited by their ability / need to utilize / exploit faster hardware, or it lacks some of the vital things that some of us would call "Ultra", like adjustable settings, higher framerate/resolution etc. That's not an unfair opinion at all. It's a fair part of a discussion because we know that some PC developers are using faster PC hardware as an excuse for not optimizing their games properly.

The game could be limited by budget , player base they want , it being F2P etc etc .
Not every dev is going to try and max out PC hardware \ plus Ultra is not the same for every game .

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.

KZ:SF and BF4 looks better and maintain good framerate.

Not having as much stuff going on helps.

Is it more or less childish than continuing to call people out and conflating this discussion with a tribe mentality?

Exactly. And in addition to resolution, framerate and adjustable settings not normally found on consoles. "Ultra" is meaningless, especially in this context. So what they said doesn't really mean much to or from. It's a straight port, and it's not negative per se.

Even post patch it's a pretty taxing game, especially when there's a lot of crazy going down, I'll be really impressed if it really is straight up the PCs ultra setting without something else giving (ie; the framerate and how low and/or steady it is)

Just logged in the game to verify the claimed optimization thing, game hovers around 56fps when spawning, and still tanks to 40's during fights with 1 or 2 ennemies.

I'm running on Ultra (recommended setting for me) SLI 670, i5 3570K @4.2ghz, 16GB ram and game is installed on an SSD, so having a hard time believing it will run buttery smooth on PS4 with all the eye candy, or they're just screwing pc gamers.

It's a CPU intensive game. I'm not sure how good their multithread support is now, but can it really run on Ultra on a juiced up netbook CPU?

This does seem probable. The new optimisations for the PC version should make hitting ultra all well and good, maybe even at 1080p, a steady 60fps is a stretch though

The developer already said that pc users with an AMD CPU will get a nice performance boost since they had to overhaul their engine for the PS4.

FOV in console games will never be comparable with pc versions, but that's kinda expected.

But I do think fov on console FPSes is too narrow very often. A slider in display settings would be nice, just like that screen size option.

Am fascinated to see how PS2 is received by the console audience. Quality game, hope it does well.

It's going to flop for reasons anyone who has played it on PC for more than a couple of days will know.

PS2 is amazing when you are 10-20+ people sitting in TS playing the game properly , working together with the other outfits on your faction etc. it's horrible if it's played lone wolf like CoD or BF.

The game is built from the ground up to be played on an epic scale with large organised outfits/factions , the PS4 lacks the 3rd party tools that make this possible.

The game is also a horrible grind with little no no progression unless your pumping money into guns (that are largely side grades ) or boosters to alleviate the terrible cert grind.

PS2 is an amazing game that's I'll suited for consoles.

After seeing screenshots, makes sense. Not exactly a beast of a game.
the game is more about explosions physx lighting and view distance

i hate comments like these

Generalizing a platforms player base based on the fact that a certain set of games is built around it being more efficient to work alone than to be in a group in situations
