You're looking into it too much. Stop making a big deal out of it, any good website will have run with this headline.

The problem is that this thread shouldn't even exist in the first place.

Does it say what the sell-through was? I was under the impression Wii sales are down because there's no hardware to be had. Is that not the case?
dude i thought you lived in japan?

A little off topic, but wow, RE:UC has done pretty good for itself right out the gates over there. Honestly didn't expect that. Good show, Capcom... now plant some kind of subliminal messages in your RE games to get people out there for Zack & Wiki and Okami.

Well it kind of is, if you read up on any Sony threads you'd know how much Sony executives have been anticipating this moment. It's potentially a turning point for the console.
I honestly feel sorry for them if they've waited this long for the PS3 to outsell the Wii for two weeks.

Wow, that price drop did wonders.

What games are they buying?

Oh, saw the chart.

Either way, this is very good news.

Now if they can get a good hold on Europe, 2nd place is theirs.

the lack of PS3 titles on the chart make me think that the japs are buying it only because with the new prices the hardware is too much tempting... or rather:

"Blue Ray adult movies, definitely enjoy them on the new PS3" (for the non-japs like me)

Stop using "Japs".

Pretty sure most are buying it with Die, Nasty Warriors 6.

yeah, [potentially a turning point.....]

PS3 White goes on sale. . . sells 50,000 in a day (last weeks figures)
Second week sells 50,000 units in a week following the new hardware, new colour and cheap cheap price.
so from 50K in a day to 50K in a week to more than lkely less next week.
that's a turning point?

WiiFit
just became the highest preordered
NON
game in Japan.... ahead of Smash Bros.
oh-oh!!!

It's actually quite sad when it states "second week STRAIGHT".

As if two in a row in an amazing and unprecedented event.

But it is unprecedented. Isn't it?

FunkyMunkey said:
No offense taken. I'd be saying the same thing for other systems as well. I just think that the OP in a sales thread should just be fact fact fact while giving all competition good coverage. Then after that, the crazy antics begin :D .

Did you actually read the OP? It is fact, fact, fact as you say, mentioning the 360 and software sales of the PS3 and Wii.

I did forget to say that these numbers ARE impressive, in a sense that it's pretty sudden. The PS3 has a good lineup for Christmas and it will be interesting to see if this trend continues further.

I'm sorry, can you speak up? I can't hear you over the sound of your furious back pedaling.

Based on last and this week's early Famitsu numbers, what we heard about PS3 40 GB day one sales, and that these things always tend downward a bit after the peak, here's one possibility of how this two week period went.

Of course, it's hard to tell how steep the line was this week. PS3 could've been over Wii the entire week, with a bigger day-two drop and a flatter descent from there on. Or day two could've been bigger, with the rest of the week lower. *shrug*

You see now how tenuous the Nbot confidence was. How fragile its ego is. Do you know why they react so? It's fear.

They're afraid.

Thank God. Sony is saving gaming in Japan.

Saving gaming with Dynasty Warriors and a price drop?

The real story here is that Umbrella Chronicles sells 105k!!! Fuck yeah! Lets hope it reachs 300k!

Its more like 8 days of sales, 8 days after the price drop. It will die down in a week or two.
Anything short of a newspaper from the future would say otherwise. Price is the barrier to entry, the cute likable adverts are running. I'm not putting any weight behind it but in the words of Luke Smith: price is the barrier to entry. That barrier has been lowered and cannot be ignored.

For once I look forward to a sales age battle in Japan.

How are the Blu-Ray porn sales in Japan? (Yes then why are there pictures of school girls on that PS3 ad?)

- A console selling more than TWO other ones for two weeks straight is hardly unprecedented.

- Siiiiiigh. I guess most of the other people in thread are also blind.

- I said "wow" out loud and am surprised to see it, but I forgot to write it down. I thought it, but forgot it. So, I added it to my next post. Not backpedaling.

How about sticking to the thread topic instead of "furiously" attacking me? I'm honored to have a fan but christ.

Great analysis.

Most people are forgetting that last week the price drop was only in effect for one day. This weeks sales are not at all surprising IMO. A bit surprised Wii hardware didn't increase, but the RE:UC sales are something to be happy about if you're Nintendo.

the one absolute fact that no one can disregard: PS3 outsold Wii again.

yet people will rebut that "WELL IT'LL GO DOWN EVENTUALLY!!" how does that change the past?

it doesn't.

I don't know if you're joking around or serious, but PS3 needs to beat out Wii THIS HOLIDAY in order to claim real momentum. Looking at their respective lineups, I think that is doubtful.

As much as the fanboy in me enjoys Nintendomination, it makes me happy to see the PS3 doing better. Mainly becuase Nintendo needs to stop being so over confident. They need competition to make more games like Mario Galaxy. A pricedrop or Wii sports pack in in Japan would solve this issue quickly.

There really is no battle, not yet. I can imagine the PS3 finding its spot at around 20k, I would definitly be surprised if it was higher than that after the holidays. But to speak more absolutely, I think the Wii will crush it with WiiFit.
