They showed it again at that event yesterday. But it's not confirmed...
Ah, understood. Makes you wonder when they will get patched. They said 20 titles this year, is that counting 'patch-able' titles or 20 new release 3D games?

I think Tiger Woods and MLB The Show with Move and 3D will be a hit in my house. TTP what are you waiting for, get on that list!

You can get 24"-30" 3D Monitors...i assume they work also?
Most of the ones are for PC gaming, which dont come with 3D glasses. Thanks to nvidia.

If you can find one that comes with glasses, and works with the PS3 I will buy one next week. :lol

If anyone can find a 3D monitor with proper glasses that can be used with the ps3 please let me know. Otherwise i'm gonna be waiting till the fall to save up for a LED and Plasma.

FYI, the 5.00 version of SSHD also uses the XMB system for custom music instead of it's own.
Hilarious, Housemarque is just supposed to make a 3D patch for an old game but in addition upgrades the engine for 2D and even use the newer SDK to implement an updated version of custom music (this is bascially totally cosmetic) while other devs don't' do SHIT.

Super Stardust HD was also the very first game to get a trophy patch IIRC.

Are you rocking stereo speakers for that setup? ( I don't see a center channel that's why i ask)

Looks awesome, but the audiophile in me begs you to at least get a home theater in a box 5.1 setup, so cheap nowadays.

Pretty much what I said. Are companies just refusing to make smaller models to cash in on launch sale buyers? I really dont get why they wont make 24-32" screens. I feel like we wont see 3d capable tvs that small until 2011. :(

Lots of love for panasonic plasmas... Will have to check them out.

Anyone have a 1080p 3d projector? Are there any on the market? 720p 3d? A projector is what I really want!

These will start shipping in Fall of 2010. I just picked up a Panasonic AE 4000 right before Christmas and am pissed I didn't hold off another year for 3D. 3D on an 120 inch screen sounds epic.

We just got our Panasonic VT20 set up in our store, and its better than the Samsung 7000 series LEDs in my opinion by quite a margin. Watching some of the 3D demo scenes is really amazing, like looking underwater in a coral reef or :D womens beach volleyball:D

I think I am going to get a 50 inch Panasonic vt20. It even comes with a pair of glasses! Only $2499.99! (cough)

yeah Panasonic is really pouring it on

Well hey, that ain't bad currently next to Sony's cheapest (which would come to $2300 I think with a receiver and a pair of glasses).

I think in the short term I'll be in the market for a computer monitor with support...longer term I'll see how the TVs go.

someone mentioned the PS3 doing frame sequential mode? Don't really know why, they should just be able to use side by side mode, you'd think that'd be easier, and not need any fancy firmware update, just a selectable option in the game.

So PS3 only had HDMI 1.2 right? So somehow they are fudging 3D into that spec. Does it have any requirements/specs for receivers? I feed my PS3 through my receiver and then through a HDMI switch, so I'm concerned the signal won't make it all the way through. HDMI can be a bit of a minefield

PS3 has always had HDMI 1.3 spec. I have the same setup.

Super Stardust HD was also the very first game to get a trophy patch IIRC.

And thus, why Housemarque will continue to have my money. Their game support is great.

I'll see plenty of this in the next week, but I'm happy I waited to upgrade again, that Panasonic has good reviews, but I'm hoping that the Black level issue is resolved for this.

Right been playing 3D games for hours, some impressions:

Super Stradust HD - The Overall 3D effect on worked nicely for the most part, the explosions were probably the best thing i have seen in 3D so far - the sparks seem to fly towards you off the screen, it brings a smile to your face :D
However i found the 3D effect made this game alot more difficult, when lots of rocks were flying towards the planet at once i found it hard to tell which ones had landed and which hadn't - i know this game is hectic normally but this made it worse.
I also experienced alot of bugs when using bombs on a packed planet - on several occasions i got green & white screens (1 colour in each eye) and other strange goings on (Visual bugs in 3D arent just annoying, they hurt your brain :( )

Wipeout 3D - This was probably the "cleanest" of the 3 games, the artificial look of these vehicles and tracks made it all work very well in 3D with no noticeable problems.
The 3D really gave the game a sense of speed & distance.
Although there was no real "wow!" moments in terms of 3D, it all just sorta worked and felt natural from the start - but im not sure if that's good or bad (People dont spent a fortune on 3D TVs not to notice it! :lol)

Motorstorm - By far the most impressive of the 3 games i tried - the grass zipped past you, the dirt & water flying towards you & crashes looked spectacular - it is stunning
And like wipeout it gave a much greater sense of speed & defiantly made the game alot more fun.
The only probelm i noticed was when things came too close to the screen & became like double vision - but this is a minor problem.
If only there was more than one track :(

So overall 3D is awesome! I only wish there was a few slower moving games were you could actually walk about and enjoy the 3D rather than flying round a track :lol
Looking forward to trying an RPG or FPS :D

Probably games so far, cause you really feel part of the 3D (if that makes sense) and to see it all moving in 3d in real time is very impressive.

52" and about 4-6ft away although I tend to sit quite close when playing games.

Well I tried but it looks like the PS3 won't let my 3D DLP join the party :(

I'd have to dig out my manual but I'm pretty sure that these Samsung LED DLPs only run 3D @ 1080P which would explain why they're not supported. I'll have to hold out hope for a converter or something or no 3D gaming for me anytime soon since I just got a 2009 Samsung LED to go with my DLP a few months ago, should have waited I guess :/

I'm pretty sure DLPs need a converter. Nothing Sony can do.

Fuck if I'm paying for the whole 3D bundle to play the Motorstorm 2 demo. Just b/c I bought an overpriced TV doesn't mean I go around wasting money. I own the game disc.

I understand why they won't offer it as a patch or standalone demo. The PSN games are small, and I'm sure their free patches are also relatively small. But a full level of MS2 is probably more than 1 GB, and if they put it on the store, then people will download it not realizing it's 3D only.

So they'd have a hassle of dumb poors calling and complaining why their PS3 was blurry. And if they charged for the 3D as a game add-on, they'd get the dumb poors plus they'd have to deal with refunds.

I have a used copy of Avatar I've never touched since I played it for 5 awful minutes months ago. But it's on XBOX. Don't know if I can post impressions here . . .

Not entirely true. The DLP checkerboard format is part of the HDMI 1.4 spec (it's just a different form of framepacking) but it's not mandatory that 1.4 devices support it, most likely because of what I said before about the TV only supporting 3D at one resolution.

There's no way that Sony can force 1080P support into every 3D game so you're right when you say there's nothing they can do. I can hold out hope that 3D Bluray will be supported when they update that later this year though.

The new 3D (but also playable in 2D) MS:pR demo is available for free on the US Store.

Well hot damn I was way off. Earlier today the UK store had the MS2 demo only available with the bundle. Thanks for the info! Downloading now.

Also didn't know that about DLP. I thought Samsung owners were fucked b/c Mits had gone out of their way to make their DLP adapter incompatible with Samsung DLPs.

Damn, that's what I don't like about 3D. There's literally nothing I can look at on the Internet to see what it looks like. At least in the old days I could see what HD looked like. I don't think I'm ready to jump in to the 3D market yet but it's killing the new tech guy inside of me. I want to play. :lol

Can you explain this side-by-side 3D thing? I'm not familiar with it.

PS3 is full-bandwidth HDMI 1.3, but has a programmable firmware. Since the HDMI 1.4 spec is really a SW change as far as 3D goes ... they were able to update it to meed the standard. The only HDMI 1.4 feature missing is integrated Ethernet.

As far as feeding it into a switch and a receiver, unfortunately the results are unknown at this point. It's possible (if not likely) it won't work. That is why most of the dedicated 3D BD players have dual HDMI. 1 for audio and the other for video. Too bad Ken K. didn't get his wish of dual HDMI for PS3 :p

No, it has to be a TV specifically labeled for 3D. It has to be at least 120Hz and have HDMI 1.4.

Well, not necessarily. It needs to state that it supports 120Hz input / 3D. If it has HDMI 1.4, then it will definitely work with the PS3, 3D BD players, etc. If it uses something besides HDMI 1.4 (dual HDMI, etc) ... you'll need to check with the manufacturer. Some companies, like Mistubishi, are bringing out converter boxes so you can use their pre-3D 3D TV's with the new standard.

The only thing I read was that Plasma's aren't qutie as bright as LCD's/LED's, and this isn't helped with the 3D glasses being tinted. Saying that, they said in a darkened room it will be fine, and you can always increase the brightness yourself.

As you stated, any brightness issues versus LCD is really only going to be an issue if you playing in a really bright room. Normal lighting or less and you should be fine.

It should be pointed out that the glasses are not tinted. You see a darker image because you are viewing an alternating black image in each eye. It ends up working like black-frame insertion on LCD's for reducing blurring. Slight improvement in motion resolution, with a slightly darker image.

If you have anaglyph glasses, or can do the crosseye or parallel side-by-side 3D, or even a hand-held mirror, you can watch 3D on a normal monitor...

To my knowledge, no one has released a consumer, home theater 3d projector yet (I'd have to double check).

I'm hoping (expecting) Panasonic will have one out at the end of the year. They are quite heavily invested in 3D, and happen to make what I'd argue is the best bang-for-the-buck front projector on the market.

http://3dguy.tv/downloads/ <- You can download a side by side trailer and see what it looks like w/o glasses. On a regular TV, it looks like what it says. The screen is split vertically, with each side playing the video.

On a 3D TV, you enable 3D mode and then selcect the type of 3D video you are watching (yes it is more complicated than it should be). Once enabled, it looks like one blurry picture w/o glasses. Put on glasses, turn them on, and you have 3D.

Also, HDMI 1.4 has something called audio return channel. http://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/hdmi_1_4/arc.aspx

HDMI 1.4 turned out to be a huge load of lies made of shit. It offers Audio Return Channel and Ethernet over HDMI 1.3. For video, it offers nothing really. In fact, it's possible that an HDMI 1.5 will come along soon since 1.4 does not support 3D 1080p@60fps x2.

That's not entirely true.
