Reveal in mid 2019, launch early/mid 2020.
Maybe but any reason why would they exclude 2019 unless they don't want people to see there's a huge profit loss till march 2020? I just think they excluded March 2020 because of that
Another ridiculous post I see.....
I really don't know what your problem or issue is that makes you come off as extremely angry over a console? Ever since I posted the Bink thing it is like I've personally insulted you!?
Also John Kodera told us nothing in the "We will use the next three years to prepare the next step, to crouch down so that we can jump higher in the future" comment and certainly not anything at all about 2021.
I listened to the Q&A from that IR Day and he specifically refused to talk about the "next-generation platform" when asked.
Just cause YOU don't want to listen and it doesn't fit YOUR narrative doesn't mean he wasn't very clear. He was specifically asked to clarify the PS4 "final phase" comment and he specifically said "We will use the next three years to prepare the next step."
Yeah, I would have to agree. Not sure if I am missing something here but if anything this chart points clearly to a 2020 release. 2019 shows their highest profit margin. 2020 is not shown at all and 2021 looks like the year their profits dip. Again unless I am missing something how are people getting a 2019 release based solely on this particular chartThat graph looks more like 2020 launch.
They won't ever tell you new console gen is coming before they actually are ready with release on same or next year.
I usually dont argue with kids over internet but i'll bite. I said maybe because i dont't think you're right. Everything here is speculation.I'll stick with 2019,many facts point to '19 release.Logic gets exposed and comes up with another cockamamie theory to justify "PS4 2019." Nobody ever says "Oh yeah, I'm sorry you're right" on the Internet. In fact, he gets exposed and says "Maybe" lol. Everybody wants to save face in front of a bunch of grown men in their parent's basements. You said "March 2020 drop in profit is the biggeest because of PS5 releasing in end of 2019." Guess what there is no March 2020 on that "chart. There's no "maybe" about it.
So in your brain Sony excluded March 2020 to hide a "huge profit loss?" These are SONY's projections, not real numbers! If they wanted to "hide" something, they would just project it in whatever manner they see fit! So now they are concealing their own projections, which they themselves have the power to make say whatever they want? I don't even think YOU believe this bullshit you're posting.
Bullshit everywhere is a personal insult to me, don't take it personal. And John Kodera told us everything.
From Forbes:
Talking with the Wall Street Journal, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO John Kodera clarified what he meant by the "final phase" comment for the PS4 and had this to say about when we can see the next console released. "We will use the next three years to prepare the next step, to crouch down so that we can jump higher in the future."
Just cause YOU don't want to listen and it doesn't fit YOUR narrative doesn't mean he wasn't very clear. He was specifically asked to clarify the PS4 "final phase" comment and he specifically said "We will use the next three years to prepare the next step."
Despite your level of comprehension, what he said was quite clear. Yet you're sitting up here telling saying Sony, who are not talking about their next system, is going to release it before Microsoft, who are OPENLY talking about their multiple next generation systems, and who most want to hit the reset button on this cycle.
In the face of Microsoft's bombshell E3 revelation of multiple systems, in the face of Sony saying they need three years to even "prepare the next step," not even a mention of a system, three years to even prepare the next step (though I believe 2021 is likely), you are STILL trying to say PS5 is coming out NEXT YEAR? BEFORE Microsoft? Unless you belive Microsoft is coming out this year? Shit maybe you do lol. Yeah, I'll call out that bullshit all day every day, cause you might be fooling some (not really), but you ain't fooling this one.
I think what Phil Spencer said was a defensive move because their conference was first. They didn't know whether or not Sony was going to anounce PS5 prematurely, so he said they are working on future consoles that are going to be the technological benchmark so, in case Sony announced PS5 for 2019, Xbox fans knew there would also be a next Xbox that is supposedly going to be more powerful in the future.Microsoft just got on stage at E3 and told you multiple new consoles are coming. So by your logic we can assume to have theirs by what, Christmas? Or maybe first quarter of next year? Are you one of these "insiders" that these PS5 2019 posters speak to? Because you're dropping some major news here. Thank you for that kind sir.

So like i said, they hide March 2020 operating profit because of losses they would take from March 2019 until March 2020 by releasing PS5. I'll stick with it.

Before Sony conference I was expecting PS5 for late 2020. After the conference, seeing they showed no new first party PS4 games, I expect PS5 for late 2019/early 2020.
But they did this in 2013!
Got example of this?
Knack, Killzone shadowfall, resogun

No one is going to release new console not in holiday season.
I'm sure Sony released a revenue chart recently which went from PS1-PS4 which would help show the expected dips at a console launch but I can't seem to find it :-/
This one?

Sony has confirmed privately that their future OP estimates do not factor in any sort of PS5 launch.
Sony has confirmed privately that their future OP estimates do not factor in any sort of PS5 launch.
Last I heard (around E3) they haven't fully confirmed the timing of when they were going to launch...they were still thinking about it, along with the future of PSN. Things may have changed since then...I imagine if they're doing a 2019 reveal they'll have their plans nailed down by the end of the year.
They'll revise their forecasts once they announce the PS5. Forecasts are preliminary.
No, it's told to institutional investors.
Thought it'd be fun to keep track of why the PS5 is likely releasing in 2019.
Anyone else have anything further to add?
1. Software announcements have not blown out past 2019 even with the latest E3.
2. PS5 devkits are rumoured to have been sent to third party devs in 2018.
3. Next-gen games were shown at E3. (One year prior to PS4's release was when saw the first PS4 games)
4. AMD has said 7nm will be rolled out next year.
5. PS3 and Vita games are planned to be dropped from PS+ next year.
6. Sony stated PS4 is in it's final phase of life.
7. Sony showed a graph for expected Playstation sales conveniently leaving out the March after 2019.
8. 2019 will be the PS4's 6th year which falls in line with PS1 and PS2's length.
9. Bink has released support for a new unidentified platform.
10. Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 2019 is for "Multiple Next Gen" Platforms, job listing suggests

They would not reveal the next console one year or more before releasing it.Reveal in mid 2019, launch early/mid 2020.

The timing should be similar to what they followed for the PS4

Perhaps it does not mention 2020 its because the first mention of March 2021 (low estimate) is a typo? That's it, thank you.
Given the revenue is in the negatives at each console launch I would expect profit to take a much bigger dive at launch than what is shown in the March 2021 column.

that would just be the announcement, not the launch. That's it, thank you.

Microsoft announced Xbox One X a year and a half before launch just to let their fans know they had a better than PS4 pro system in the works. That they did something similar this E3 to preemptively defend themselves from a potential PS5 announcement is just my opinion. I'm not defending or attacking Dontero's point. In the spirit of Arkhan's post I won't address the "kids" comment, but you do understand those are projections made by SONY? Why would Sony hide their own projections? They're not actual numbers! If they wanted to hide something, they'd simply make the projection say what they wanted it to say! It's not rocket science, the numbers aren't coming from an independent source. They are coming from Sony themselves. They are WHATEVER SONY WANTS TO BE. If anything, Sony would lowball their projections so they could say, "We surpassed our projections for XXXX year!"
Next to bitbydeath's infamous "Bethesda says TESVI and Starfield are next generations games = PS5 2019," this may be the best reach in the thread. Dontero just informed us that no company would tell you when a "new console gen is coming before they actually are ready with release on same or next year." So I informed him that Microsoft told us their consoles are coming, thus clearly meaning we will see them by Christmas or next year, by his very own logic.
Now YOU, in an attempt to justify Dontero's blunder (unless you're in the NextBox 2018/2019 camp, because I am after being enlightened by Dontero) are saying the reason Microsoft told us about their multiple new consoles at E3 is because they were afraid Sony might mention theirs and wanted Xbox fans to know they also had a new console coming? As if somehow PlayStation bringing out a console negates Microsoft's ability to? Or you are saying Microsoft fans would be worried their console wouldn't be the most powered, so he'd preemptively show his hand on the "family" of Xbox systems on the ASSUMPTION that Sony says something, just to calm down said fans in advance because they wouldn't be able to handle the news? Are you implying that Microsoft's fans are stupid? Because that's clearly what your logic points to.
Who do you think I am to believe this? Does this work on anyone? Do people normally allow these incredible leaps of logic to go unchecked? I mean, if we're all just having a fun lalaland discussion of what ifs to pass the time let me know. Maybe I'm out of line raining on the parade here. I'll back off in that case, and once again thank Dontero for putting me squarely in the NextBOX 2018 - BELIEVE camp!
End of 2020. Big marketing campaign on 2020 (25 years of Playstation + Tokyo Olympics).
25th anniversary is 3rd December 2019. Just because NA/EU got PlayStation nearly a year after Japan doesn't change its "birthday"!
True, however the West is their "main" market now, to the point where they launched the PS4 for the first time in their history, in the West first and then Japan later.
So they can capitalize the marketing around that, as they have been doing.
Maybe an official PS5 name drop at PSX2019 for the 25th anniversary?
We will all know I guess this time (or a little earlier like with the PS4) next year or so. If we hear nothing just before or around E3, it's 2020 I would think, with maybe a shadow tease at PSX as I mentioned.
If MS's next gen hw will be more powerful than PS5, Sony might want to get a headstart and try and gain an early lead in installed base.
Right, so the anniversary year runs until December 2020.25th anniversary is 3rd December 2019. Just because NA/EU got PlayStation nearly a year after Japan doesn't change its "birthday"!
I bet people saying PS4 still has life are Pro owners. Think of the basic PS4 mortals.
