The next-generation capabilities of PlayStation 5, combined with the newly evolved Unreal Engine 5, will allow developers to produce photoreal graphics. Epic Games believes that the level of immersion which next-generation games can explore will finally offer movie-quality gaming for the masses.

Speaking with the Official PlayStation Magazine for the latest issue, Epic Games’ chief technology officer Kim Libreri exclaimed that “it has been a lifelong dream” of his to witness games that are “as believable and realistic” as big-budgeted Hollywood blockbusters. Libreri has full confidence that the next-generation graphics and processing feats of PlayStation 5, powered by Unreal Engine 5, will make that lifelong dream of his come true.

Of course CG will always have advantages, like better IQ, better fluid simulation and hair rendering, more robust ray tracing etc. But without pixel peeping, I think we'll see environments this gen that are indistinguishable from CG..

It has basically the same CPU as XSX so framerate isn't the issue. It's at what resolution and graphic fidelity.

Not that I disagree that there's more to a console than teraflops. But simply showing that the game can also hit one arbitrary target without regard to all the other variables at play is not a great argument for it.

1- Epic thinks the PS5 is better suited than Series X to run UE 5

2- Epic is being paid by Sony

They can now use the same assets because of SSDs the key is to have good lighting & animation

I think Next Gen should see a rise in shared assets across multiple games & even CGI movies\shows

Next Gen consoles will have SSDs as standard so the location of the data in storage isn't going to matter as much as it used to so a middleware company should be able to make something & let us use it in multiple games. Like if a new Pixar movie come out we should be able to get items from...

It's still 120FPS which is nice to have in a game. And its not like the game will look like trash on the PS5 compared to the XSX version. I mean if games will look good on the Lockhart they should be fine on the PS5.
