Playstation is sponsoring London Pride 2017 (24th June - 9th July)

This is absolutely amazing. Keep it up, Sony!

If only custom themes had clearly readable text... Try to read what game a friend is playing with this. It can be done but it's unpleasant to do so.

I don't think the Pride Parade is a protest, at least not where i am from.

You should. Its roots are in public defiance, collective action & community reinforcement for those marching.

Back in the 70s, 80s & 90s it very much was still primarily a protest. I can't speak as to the US, but in the 70s & 80s UK queer politics was very radical and deeply tied into left-wing & radical queer politics.

The discussions on this thread about the commercialisation of Pride has been ongoing in the Gay community for a long time.

Whatever dude. For many pride is still a protest not a party with corporate sponsors (especially tax dodging multi-nationals like Starbucks and Vodafone) and police marching too.

A corporation employs people. When companies with millions/billions in revenue show their support it is to the benefit of their employees (in terms of benefits but also knowing that they have the support of their employer) but is also an influencing force into politics.

A politician would have to think twice when there's a chance of losing a company in their constituency/country.

Saying that it's a protest not a party is ignoring the today it can be a party because of how attitudes have changed and progress has been made.

Seeing the kind of responses received on twitter about Sony's support for London Pride 2017 shows that that this is a positive action.

I'm gay and whilst it's cool to see stuff like this, a part of me thinks it's also a bit counterproductive. Same thing with Pride, which I never have and likely will never go to. I just think things like this (Pride especially) make the divide even more pronounced when in reality there shouldn't be one at all.

This was a day or two ago if the PlayStation UK Facebook page is a good indicator.

Did anyone go? Was there another thread? I did a search but this is all that came up.

Man I wouldn't mind a PlayStation rebrand. The logo looks cool as fuck on some of the coloured balloons.

Edit: I see the thread title that this was over a couple weeks and not just yesterday.

It was on Saturday. I went but didn't see any Sony/ Playstation branding around the event at all. From the look of the picture, they had a float and marched in the parade which was awesome but I didn't see them in it.
