Playstation Move impressions/reviews/previews

:D
That actually looks pretty cool and fun.

TTP delivers!

EDIT: Finally done watching the video. What a mess this game is. You're right: Should've been PSN and Move should've been optional. Lack of platinum is also sad since TTP has 18 or so plats! :lol

man, the voiceover is... terribad. you need to do subtitles :P

and well, you should do a "not a review but score at the end for a review" on the titles.

Yeah I know my spoken English sucks as much as my written one. No need to point out the obvious :lol

What do you mean about the review score?

BTW, next vid is Time Crisis (demo). Anything special you want to be addressed?

Disagree on both. I clearly understand what he is trying to say and I prefer it that way for it makes his reviews more unique and down-to-earth. No need to add scores for numbers don't mean shit, no need for subtitles or different narrator! :)

Do you have Guncon? Please please please say you do! Cause if you do, can you compare it with Guncon 3? Oh and I know you don't have the gun attachment but can you also see how it feels as a Guncon/rail shooter?

*Kung Fu Rider vid*

:lol What a silly game.

By the way, you do a fantastic job demonstrating games. I know you see compliments like that a lot here, but seriously...the fact that you even go into the details such as the Options menus and explain various extra features of the game is awesome.

One of the first things I ALWAYS do with ANY game I buy, whether it's disc-based or PSN, I always go to the options menu first to see how I can customize the game. The fact that you highlighted those points was just cool to see since most game videos never show that. ;)

I don't have the GunCon but I can already tell you it's gonna feel very different when played with the Move. The reason being, with the GunCon you do the aiming "for real" as there is no cursor on screen (I assume there isn't just like in the past GunCon games), while with the Move there is always a pointer on screen indicating where you are aiming.

I think most of the charm in light gun games is that you do actually have to aim to hit targets. With the Move is just a matter of moving a cursor on top of them. Very different experience.

I don't think a real "GunCon experience" can ever be replicated with the Move because there is no perfect "line of sight tracking" due to how the Move tech works compared to GunCon one.

lol me too! More so now that Move is involved as I'm curious about what kind of stuff can be tweaked in terms of sensitivity etc.

Good... so you know exactly what to cover then! :D

*patiently waits*

Oh and one little thing if you can see (I think you already answered but... yeah...): Is there a cross-hair on the screen? If so, can you disable it to get that "Guncon Experience"?

I guess that's asking too much... :P

Great vid, TTP. Though I felt bad for the Move controller near the end. It looked like you were holding it hostage or something. :lol

But the vid completely answered all of my questions about the game. Sadly, that was the single Move title that looked interesting to me.

But...I'm still researching. Can't wait for your Time Crisis vid.

Of course there is a cross-hair (that's what I refer to when I say "pointer") and no, you cannot disable it. No matter how precisely you do the tracking with the Move, I think there is always going to be some inconsistency between where you think you are aiming and where your bullets actually land because of the simple fact that the whole tracking is camera/sensors based.

To be honest, I dunno if this is really impossible. It might be possible, but in Time Crisis I think the aiming relies mostly on the gyroscope (with the sphere used for "drift compensation") which is fast, but not capable of doing 1:1 tracking. Basically it doesn't put a gun in your hand augmented reality-style. Which is odd but likely to be motivated by the fact that it would results in slower response time.

Just assumptions on my part mind you. I need to better investigate this.

Tumble, Playstation Move Bundle (Sports Champions), Eyepet.

It'll work on every version of the game. The patch will be there on Friday and it free. Resident Evil you need the Gold version.

The Heavy Rain patch will be out this week already, you sure about that? Heavy Rain Move Edition release date is October 8th, at least in UK, so I thought the patch would come around at the same time.

I'm pretty sure Sony said it would be there day 1.

IGN impressions of RE5 with Move controls

http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/111/1119652p1.html

Controls seem a bit crap

So the RE5 move implementation is identical to the RE4 wii controls, but according to IGN, because the game was “designed to move away from the claustrophobic environments of the previous games and was build for ‘twitcher’ action using dual analogue controls” the move controls don’t improve the experience. Bullshit
I’ve played half way through the game with DS3 and the environment designs are very like RE4, so I don’t agree with him there. I loved the pointer controls of RE4, and the game was way more fun because of them. I’d be amazed if RE5 wasn’t equally improved but I’ll know for sure this weekend!

Hey TTP, just heard on the Zipper podcast that they have improved the move controls in the latest beta version (1.03). Have you tried it recently? notice any difference?

I would write a couple lines, if the damn beta would kindly stop freezing my PS3 each time after last update. Man, this stinks.

I find it odd that you say 'of course there is a crosshair'. On some of the lightgun games on the wii you can turn it off, and to me at least, the accuracy is enough that I prefer to turn the crosshairs off - to play it as a proper gun game, not as a 'move the pointer' game.

if you really can't do that in any of the time crisis games on PS3, I'd be *very* disappointed - possibly not even buy it. Its just not a lightgun game if you're moving a mouse cursor around and clicking.

With regards to the hype I'm worried kinect is going to destroy it purely based on marketing alone. No talk of move here in australia. You'd barely know it's days away and I can guarantee kinect is going to be a big deal regardless of how good/bad it is

Let's not turn this into a Kinect vs. Move sales thread.

Not really. Based on your written English, I'd never know it wasn't your first language.

Kungfu rider..... yeah, I don't see why it needs Move. You might as well use a normal controller for this game.

I agree, this could be a dealbreaker for me, at least until the price of the game drops.

Multiplayer Attracts Crowds
There’s something about a massive, unstable, teetering tower of blocks that draws a crowd: People want to see it crashing down.
To test our multiplayer levels we invited everyone in the studio to have a go on Tumble whenever they liked. The crowds grew as the games got more intense. It made us realise that we had something really compelling with the multiplayer experience; everyone was a backseat driver, everyone wanted to grab the controller and everyone wanted to be the best.

We also added drop-in co-op to all the single player levels. It’s a great feature to play with family or friends, or if you want to complete the Timed medals super fast.

MP should be fun.

I was at Central in Sydney today and they had billboards/posters for Move up. I don't watch TV so I wouldn't know if its actually getting any ads but the retail stores JB etc have had posters up for a while. Its kinda the sort of thing where a successful launch will be hard to judge, perhaps we should just wait a year or two and see if there's any games actually being released with Move functionality ala Motion+ non existence.

That would be sad indeed, I was already looking forward to finally play a new Time Crisis game, but this could be a dealbreaker for me too.

We’re very proud of what we achieved, but early in development we had an issue with this amazing technology. The data we were getting from the Move was almost too precise; It picked up every tiny movement, every twitch, every overshoot and correction. A long time was spent just working on how to use the huge amount of data we were getting back from the Move, smoothing out the raw data without introducing lag. It wasn’t just about getting 1:1 control; it was about making it feel like 1:1. We’re really happy with the outcome and sure you will be too when you try it out.

Good to hear a developer saying this. Some people on both you tube and iwaggle3d were questioning my shooting skillz when I was making that exact point in my MAG Beta vids :D

Wii-Lightgun Games have the same problem. However, House of the dead had a "Lightgun" Mode without crosshair which almost worked perfectly.

Well, I guess this can work with the Move as well then. I was under the impression that having a camera or sensor bar detecting the controller lead to inconsistencies in aiming detection. I guess that's what good calibration is for.

Yes most of the Sega games on Wii had a calibration procedure that corrected the fact that you were aiming at a sensor and not the screen itself. It makes playing without crosshair possible (even if I always kept it, since I'm already bad enough :P )
It should be possible with move too, too bad Namco didn't think about it.

Got my Move and navi today. :D

Will try out R.U.S.E demo later since it's the only Move game I got at the moment.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Move is enabled in the demo.

Don't take his word for it. Your English is just fine. Good demo.

I was in iWaggle (congrats TTP, awesome site!!!) watching some videos and i just found out that Flight Control HD won't be realeased in NA. Is there a reason why?
