Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

Hey someone with a navigation controller out there, question for ya..

I bought one the other day and looking at the top of it between the L1 and thumbstick where the two halves of the controller come together it looks like there is a slight gap where the center 'snap point?' is. Basically, is yours flush? or is there like a small indentation there?

It almost looks like I have to loosen the screws a little bit and snap it in it's correct place.

Are there any BF deals on the bundle? I wanna buy it for my folks since they kinda liked the demo at BB and all they use their PS3 for is netflix and Blu Ray.

Picked up Singstar Dance today and it is heaps of fun! The interface is super slick as can be expected from a Singstar game, although the dance moves aren't easy to follow even on the 'easy' difficulty setting. You're basically watching a stylised video of someone performing the moves with no indication of what they're about to do and there's no 'training' mode or such like. I'm sure once I start to figure it out I'll look like a pro. :lol Definitely going to be good for my fitness though, some of the songs can work up quite a sweat!

Earlier this week Walmart announced “The Amazing Walmart Electronics Event,” which begins Saturday, Nov. 6 at 8 a.m. and runs through Nov. 7. Expect deals on Vizio HDTVs, Compaq laptops and Sony PlayStation 3 Move Bundles. Check out Walmart.com for early Black Friday deals.

Not to be outdone, Amazon.com quickly announced it would “be matching Walmart’s early Black Friday sale in today’s Amazon.com Gold Box. All deals will be available during a limited time window and the featured Deal of the Day will be available all day or until it sells out.”

I took a picture of mine, if it helps...

Wow just rage quited Time Crisis without even playing it. 20 minutes in and I still couldn't calibrate it. >:(

I don't get this. I've never had a problem with calibration standing up or sitting on the couch.

It's not that it's just really shakey and jumps around over the place. It doesn't let me get out the pause menu cos it says it not calibrated right.

I have calibration problem sometime, in sport champion, it ask me to point to the ps eye and hold move button and Trigger button. sometimes it just said calibration failed again and again. I had to quit the game to xmb and start it again. not game breaker, but really annoying when I want to show off Move to friends but give them bad first impression with failed calibration. anything I can do about that?

oh and sometime, I can get past the initial calibration, but in the menu the cursor keep drifting down or something, I had to restart the game from the xmb again in that case.

In my experience the system wants specifics when pointing to the eye and pulling the trigger button but then is pretty forgiving with the wide range during gameplay. It really wants a dead on aim+trigger. I stand dead in line with the camera eye and if that's not good enough moving my arm up or down and trying again works. It'll fail until I move my arm 2 inches up for some reason.

I got The Shoot and it seems like my crosshair drifts to the right about an inch after calibration. If I just hold the Move still I can slowly see it creep over then eventually stop. Is no one else getting that? I've tried both my Moves, though only XMB-recalibrated one of them...

I'm at work now, and just thought to try re-plugging the camera... I will later, but does anyone else have any idea as to what's happening for me?

What you are seeing is temperature drift. Try this just for fun: upon calibrating, put the Move down pointing at the screen so that you can see the cursor and blow hot air at it with an hairdryer (don't get too close of course). See what happens to the on-screen cursor as you do so. Then let the temperature go down to see the cursor drifting back.

Quick Impressions: Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011.

Its actually well done. I am impressed.

The thing with hunting is the amount of patience required to track something down... Then suddenly something jumps out at you to eat you while you are "studying paw prints" is pretty scary. Like resident evil/dead space shocking.

You can use the Move controller with Nav/DualShock to play but actually... The plastic rifle is pretty good and adds to the immersion feeling.

This "Top Shot Elite" bundled rifle does NOT integrate with move technology. Believe it or not it comes with an IR emitter bar similar to the Wii or TimeCrisis 4 Guncon.

The Rifle has all the buttons and 2 joysticks on it already so you won't need another device to do everything.

Thumbs up so far. I have to admit seeing a wild animal run at you and knowing that its pretty much certain death if you don't make the shot is pretty cool since it happens in such a short burst of time.

Edit: I'll add some impressions after I play with Move later.

^ in the off rails mode... is it open world? like one HUGE map? or do you always have to go path by path or something.

I was hoping there was still that buy 2 games get 1 free specials around but I think those promotions are over now :(

Thanks, I tried to take a pic as well but all my shots are too blurry. All the buttons work fine, it just seems to be a little out of place.

Maybe TTP can get me a macro photo, wink wink*

Try resetting the controller. Calibration fails if you don't hold the controller still. I know you know it, but... just be sure you are holding it still :P

That's not Razing Storm. That's the original TC4, from 2008.

Besides, didn't know there was a TC4 FPS mode. How come there is no such a thing in the RS collection? Or did I miss it?

but that's in the bundle no? So what was originally an 8/10, gets included in a package, which is good value and the whole thing goes down to a 4. I know its a different reviewer but I find the review angle to be terrible. Its like lazy,.

anyhow, I think the IGn reviews are terrible. First The fight and the deliberate markdowns on various things which to me, are never going to be in the 3-4 range etc.. and well, yeah.

There are two modes in Cabela 2011. Arcade mode (aka on-rails mode) which is like Virtua Cop, animals rush you and you shoot them as fast as possible. Second mode is Story mode (aka hunting mode), in that mode you are given a pretty big hunting area (not one big open world) and you literally hunt. They give you missions like kill three lions and then you have to track the lions down one by one and kill them. There is a story in the game but its dumb, something about your brother being kidnapped by animals or some shit, I'm not joking :lol

EDIT: Vids are finally getting released

damnit that was a vid from last years game, sorry

I had problems with this at first also, but I fixed it by calibrating the controller in the XMB (the one where you hold it a certain way, then rotate it 90 degrees, etc.)

The Move is the only lightgun style controller that works correctly with my projector. The screen is too big for the Guncon 3 (and the IR beacons must be above the screen) and I haven't seen a Wii game that will calibrate against a screen so large (probably impossible because of the size of the IR beacon)...the Wii is playable but it is relative movement only.

that was my point ;)

Yes, RS only includes the original arcade mode of TC4. Maybe they didn't want to make the console version of TC4 obsolete? Basically, now RS got the same treatment that TC4 got for its PS3 release, but they added 2 arcade games on top of it (w/o any extras).
That's also the reason why only RS has a Platinum trophy and a full retail trophy list while TC4 aracde and Pirates have PSN game-sized Trophy lists.

Yeah I've encountered a few bugs when trying to calibrate. Sports Champions demo it's done it a couple of times, as soon as you go into the main menu the pointer has massive drag to the right until it gets stuck and you can't do anything. Turning the controller off and on usually fixes it but still, kinda annoying and not a good sign when showing other people.

I'm sitting here on my couch playing the review copy of TV Superstars, am I in for a bad game here? =/

The game doesn't seem to recognise my movements that well when I have to draw the lines. Throwing my character at targets and then hit specific positions is kinda fun though.

well that explains the separate Trophy lists :lol

But the price is way to high. In another month you can probably get RS for not much more.

Yep, the price is surprisingly high. Should have been €10 or something.

oh, quick question with Time Crisis - is it possible to map a navigation controller/DS3 button to the shield? With the gun shell its pretty tricky to use any of the move buttons for the shield and still use it as a gun.

Nope. You can choose which Move buttons to use for cover/shooting, but there is no option to "transfer" any of those functions on a DS or Navi.

Check this part of my vid.

Welp mine looks just like that, must be how they're manufactured. Thanks.

Yeah. I guess it's used in gun attachments that can host a Navigation controller. You know, perhaps there is something that clicks in there when you place it in the holder.

so finally decided to see if there was new info about that Rodeo game that is suppose to be coming out in December...

still no gameplay footage
here is the Trailer though, LOVE the music
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxByEf-b3Ps

visited the developer's site and came across this... I think the game is suppose to release December 10th

Top Hand Rodeo Tour
Coming exclusively to PlayStation Network, Top Hand Rodeo Tour offers a one-of-a-kind authentic rodeo experience for the entire family featuring full support of the new PlayStation Move motion controller. Top Hand Rodeo Tour will feature a wide variety of rodeo events, letting players jump into the arena for Team Roping, Barrel Racing and Tie-down Roping just to name a few. Roping ‘n riding against the pros has never been such a rush, but do you have what it takes to claim the coveted title of Top Hand?”

The first part, I guarantee just Unplugging/replugging the PSEye would've worked. There's some bug that seems to cause the camera driver to freeze, but "turning it off and on" will fix it.

The second part... I'm wondering if that's what's happening for me in The Shoot. Maybe, like with analog sticks, if you're holding them a certain way when you turn the controller on, they will be calibrated wrong. Idk, but the drift in The Shoot makes me sad.

EDIT: Just saw your reply to my earlier The Shoot post, TTP. I will keep in mind the temperature next time I try and see how it goes. Where my Moves sit is directly in the line of the A/C for the living room... so you might just be on to something.

3 new PSN games from Gameloft all with Move support

Blokus
Modern Combat: Domination
Dungeon Hunter: Alliance
All 3 look interesting, I just hope the prices will be low enough. I think I already said it before, but I really wish more small developers would port their iOS games to the PSN with move support. I think using the Move is the best way to imitate a touchscreen interface on a big TV screen. I remember Apple saying that they won't bring their iPhone and iPad touchscreen technology to iMacs, because it just doesn't work, it's not comfortable. Games such as Flight Control HD are perfect examples of why the Move can imitate the type of gameplay you get from a touchscreen device. And I don't know exactly why, but I don't get that feeling with the Wii. I think it's because with the Wii you're pointing at the screen the same way you would with a laser pointer, which is not the case with the Move. So bring on the iOS ports !!

Also, we've been using the Move at home for a few weeks now, and we haven't used the dualshock 3 even once. I've been using the Move exclusively to turn on the PS3, navigate in the XMB, launch the games I want to play, buy games and download trailers on the PSN,... My gf who only uses the PS3 as a dvd/bluray player has also adopted the move as her new remote. I really think that the combo move+xmb is close to a perfect interface, and really hope it will the standard controller for the next generation.

I ordered an extra Move controller through Sony Rewards on Sep 21 and still haven't received it. It's still on backorder! I know I can order it somewhere else but I've already got too many games on my plate. Just can't believe the supply issue they are having.

I doubt the multiplayer will be very active for Modern Combat with Black Ops out, but there's a chance the Move community gives it love. I doubt it though.

Gameloft games were fun on my iPhone but I don't know if they'd translate to PS3 well. They were pretty shallow and simple knockoffs that were highly marked because they were running on your phone. Suspicious of those screenshots. We'll see, I'd love to be surprised.

Does EA Sports Active 2.0 for Move actually use the Move controller at all?

I'm tempted to pick up some sort of fitness program and while I enjoyed Active 1 for Wii, the wires killed the experience after a while.

This looks like a better package.
