Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

For people who have Tiger Woods 11 - is it improved over the demo thats on the Move starter disc? i mean the demo on there seemed a bit naff? really unintuitive aiming system?

Best so far is Move bundle with one controller, Sports Champions, camera from Amazon for £64.14 + an extra controller from Game for £29.99, for a total of £94.13

Sports champions might be worth a purchase, the table tennis is pretty good.
The demo is only the tip of the iceberg. Sports Champions is the game to get right now. It's outstanding.

And I agree with Sam. Don't know what's up with all the reviews for SC. I know a lot of reviewers are jaded, but this is ridiculous. It's almost as if they looked at the game's presentation/characters, it gave them a bad first impression, which in turn jaded their opinion of the overall game. The sports represented in SC are all fun. There isn't a bad one in the bunch. Hell, I even had fun playing Bocce. They're all deeper than what you may think when you first start playing. Easy to pick up and play, but they take awhile to master because of all the subtle motions you can utilize in the games.

Once again, if you have a Move and you don't have Sports Champions, GO OUT AND GET IT NOW.

How long should the battery last? I could have sworn I charged the controller completely yesterday, but a after a 1-2 hour session tonight and half an hour this morning, the thing is holding like 25% of the charge.

Is this normal or is my Move fucked?

Spent about 4 hours playing sports champions today. I'm really getting into this.

Gladiator battle and table tennis can get strenuous, I find.

I was left sweaty and arms sore.

Sports Champion is the best motion game in this genre since WSR. Needless to say I love it. Not that it pushes new boundaries as I read on this thread, but the controls feel responsive and make the experience a joy to play.

I can't wait for a deep Tennis experience with move, Virtua Tennis can't come soon enough (2011 title, right?)

I'm waiting for a sports champion bundle or a price drop/stunt before deciding to buy move. Currently contemplating buying a Logitech DFGT or G27 and those currently get prioritized.

why is the sword over the hand?

The grip is of course overlayed graphics. Whyever they had to do that. Start the Party only does an overlay on the sphere, which leaves your hand visible.

Damnit, beaten...

Heck I love the Move. I think this device is fantastic, and if you're still on the fence, I urge you to jump over the other side. I hope this thing sells like mad for Sony because I want to see publishers support it. I know there have been plenty of announcements for the device so far -- but I'd love to see the publisher support pile up over the next couple of months. Seriously, there's so much potential. Even if none of the launch games tempt you - you should pick this device up as a vote to publishers to support it. Because the hardware is amazing.

Having said that, I don't know why people are saying Move is without a killer-app. Sports Champions may be obvious and derivative, but fucking hell, it's the best motion sports compilation on the market. It's also amazingly deep. I can't believe people are writing it off as a "waggle sports compilation". It's so much more. There's a ton of depth to all the motions, and the AI demands you improve. Table tennis gets incredibly difficult -- in a totally fun way. It requires you to think about your shots, and carry out your motions with precision.

It's not waggle. Great job Sony -- Move is without a doubt the best motion controller on the market; and I don't see Kinect offering anything that's as capable as this thing.

I played this cool game in a mall arcade from Namco where you are a samurai killing demons I guess. Anyway, the controller was a katana with 1-1 motion tracking; except it didn't really work either because the tech wasn't good enough or dumb people in public broke the game. It was on a really short chain to keep people from stealing it too. Either way, it kind of sold me on Move and Natal.

This is awesome fun. I picked up Sports Champions, and waited for my little brother to get back from a holiday. I wanted to get a second motion controller, but quite literally every store I went to was completely sold out apart from charging stations and the odd move starter pack.

I think it's a little unrealistic to expect them to render it inside his hand.

Why? They could simply not render the handle and have the sword end at the motion ball so it appears inside. Would look better.

Ok, let me take back my initial impressions. Move is way better than Motion+. I just realized I could move the racket forward/backward in table tennis, and it's AWESOME. It adds a layer to the gameplay that is second to none. I embrace our new controller overlord, tremendous things will come from this light bulb :)

Have to agree that Sports Champion is the game right now. Having a blast with it. Eyepet is good too if you have young ones. My 4 yr old is absolutely in love with it, and spent 15 minutes alone trying to figure out what color fur and outfit it should wear.

I am really enjoying table tennis as part of Sports Champions and that got me thinking. Back in 2006, Rockstar Games made an excellent table tennis game, called Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis for the Xbox 360 (and later Wii). Rockstar needs to get moving and do a port to the PS Move!

lots of people seem to be having trouble with the wiggling fingers bit in eyepet.

try waving your hand up and down instead of wiggling your fingers.

the PSeye is basically looking for movement. sometimes it may not pick up wiggling of fingers very well (depending on the lighting in your room).

if wiggling fails, try making larger movements with your hand instead.

It wouldn't really work; Rockstar's game relies on showing your character on screen (and thus limiting the movement to "canned" animations). Having 1:1 movement while your character animates on screen is a big no-no, since doing that would open up a world of bugs and crazy-looking on-screen movements.

I really think SC needs an OT. Its such a bloody great title and of all the launch stuff, deserves a thread. Not only is it a bargain, its just so good!

I *was* having trouble with it, then when I followed the directions it worked much better.

At the start they outline an area at the bottom 1/3 or so of the TV that is for the EyePet only, and say that you should remain behind this imaginary line. When I followed that strictly the finger wiggling was no problem at all.

Guess what? You can use the move even when it says use your fingers. Worked much better, and got us moving from the one stuck spot we had.

I think this is something reviews have missed off. In the rush to scream "omgwagglelol" and blast through the Bronze cups; reviewers have failed to appreciate the depth offered in the "assist-less" Silver and Gold Cups. The harder levels of table-tennis require you to move around the living room as you would a real table-tennis table. And for me, that's the biggest show-piece of Move's advantage over the WM+. Nothing else on the market can offer this depth of precision - and Sports Champions takes advantage of that with some stellar AI that forces you to think about your actions, aswell as execute them with 1:1 precision.

Perhaps Sports Champions' biggest strength is its ability to appeal as a fun, casual party game AND as a deep, hardcore sports title.

People aren't giving Zindagi enough credit for that.

The Move takes 4 hours to charge and get 10 hours of battery life, the Navcon gets 20 hours of battery life.

Agreed. I was just reading Gizmodo's unfortunate review :\

Thanks for that information, I'll try to charge it again and I hope it will last longer this time.

After playing with Move and SC, Eyepet and Start the Party for a good part of Saturday, my only complaint is the Eyetoy camera. I get it that Sony wants to keep the camera at a low price, but does the picture quality have to be so bad? I'm not looking for an HD picture, but the picture quality of this Eyetoy seems no better than a 1980's Sony Handicam. I'd gladly pay more for a higher resolution Eyetoy.

ummmm,

Just tried out Move with all the demos on the start up disc and tbh I'm not really a fan, I don't want to come across as a Nintendo fanboy because that's far from the truth, in fact I sold my Wii recently because it wasn't getting much use, that said though thus far I preferred the wiimote over Move.

Although the Wiiote/Motion+ may not be as precise it just feels easier to use, aiming on the Move feels 'strange' to me, perhaps I need to get used to it, plus the calibration is annoying, seemed much easier with motion+, also on the wiimote it felt like I was aiming a laser pointer at a board, I liked that, very easy and intuitive, but on the Move controller it often feels like I have to move my whole aim like I'm using a magic marker drawing on a large whiteboard, it feels weird.

Anyway I'm off to have another play, hopefully with practice I'll get used to it, I'm not giving up yet.

Bad news to all SC players

After beating Bocce Gold Cup and Boss battle, its not the end..........

Champion Cup poped ..... another ten rounds of extreme difficulty.

Is your camera on top of your TV or on the bottom, the guys in here say you should put it on top.

First time I hear of this. You are probably among the first. Congrats. :)

It's like reviewers are knocking each other down to line up to embarrass themselves.
I actually just read IGN's review of SC. They didn't give it a bad score (7.5), but the knocks against the game were puzzling. Basically, the reviewer thought the characters were generic and "stiff," the environments were lifeless and repetitive, and he just had an overall problem with the game's presentation.

And for gameplay, he said:

"For the most part, the motion controls work well. Archery, disc golf and bocce ball are fun, but volleyball feels a bit too scripted and I had trouble with table tennis. Gladiator's just solid."

He docked the game points because he "had trouble" with Table Tennis. :lol Guy gets paid to write this stuff, folks.

Like you said, embarrassing. But that was Greg Miller who reviewed it. That guy's one of the worst things to have ever happened to IGN. That and Hilary Goldstein. Don't get me wrong, I don't give a shit what they scored the game. But some of the knocks against the game were, like I said before; puzzling.

That's bcos the games implement it differently. Try Sports Champions. The tracking there, including pointer, is flawless.

The table tennis game depends on the avatar. If you pick the difficult ones (the gal with face paint), you will need to be more accurate. The guys and some girls are easier to play. Spinning the ball is fun !

Yeah, don't let the demos put you off too much. They're mostly trash. But Tumble and Echochrome II are great, and I actually enjoyed The Shoot.

I hate to keep harping on it, but Sports Champions is the game to play.

News flash. Game reviewers don't want motion controls. It doesn't matter if the controls are precise or not. They just don't want to stand up and have fun, definitely not with other people. They just want to sit on their fat asses by themselves, with a headset and standard controller and call people they don't know names in some crappy FPS shooter. We had exactly the same discussions back when Wii launched.

I've been playing some more Move today by the way, I'm still not overly impressed, in short it feels like Wii with HD graphics, but two games have started to grow a little on me. The Shoot, it's really fun and feels a bit retro in a good way. And once again, Beat Sketcher. I've probably played around with the last one for 3 hours now.

Wii won't let me do this :P

My son has been begging for Eye Pet since he seen the bloody ting months ago before th move was around. I decided what the hell I'll buy him eye pet and sneak int the move controllers for myself so the wife can't complain since it's for the kid :D I honestly wasn't expecting much seeing as some people were complaining about calibrating issues, and the reviews were kinda meh, but holy shit this is one amazing piece of kit. way more responsive then my Wii with it's motion+ and I'm not recalibrating every rounds like I had to in WSR. I'm not sure why some people are having issues I line my camera up like it tells me to and bam good to go. I'm also liking Sports Champ way more then I thought I would. It can be easy on bronze but crank it up a bit and it get's pretty intense.

* oh shit forgot Echo Chrome 2 is also bloody brilliant*

Really hoping it does well as there is some serious potential with this glowing wand.

Seriously calibrating on the motion+ easier seriously??? Having to put the fucking thing down on a flat surface like every other minute vs the calibrate once and play of the move??? really??? really????

I thought the same until I decided to let it go and play SC like the real sports. You will be able to see the differences aftervthat.
