Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

Is the Heavy Rain Move patch out already?

How do I get it?

This week (Europe, I assume US too). I am guessing it will just be a title update when you play the game.

I want to try Flower out, I hope the patch comes soon for that :)

So lets make a recommendation list!

1.Sports Champions
2.Tumble
3.Flight contol
4.RUSE
5.RE5gold
6.HeavyRain
7.Start the Party

I think that's the best selection out at launch.

sorry guys but the flower patch is bullshit and isn't going to happen. Read it somewhere.

It looks like Ubisoft Shovelware to me. =/ Bad way to start your reputation with HD motion gaming Ubi...

Well I think you're misinterpreting what I'm saying by saying "deeper experience". I'm saying it provides more of a challenge because of the better tech. I dont get how having better tech (which allows for better tracking accuracy and precision) doesnt provide a "deeper experience" though. Of course software determines that also, but there's a point where the software is limited by the tech it's being made on.

I know that there are multiple ways of making a game more challenging without having to upgrade tech but most of the time it's cheap. Basically, instead of having more advanced AI in a game....the devs just crank up the health and the amount of damage that they deal to you. One way is cheap and the other seems more.....authentic in it's approach. What I'm basically saying is: the move offers more of an authentic challenge than the Wii can provide.

Look SC is a deeper experience because it is designed to be. If it was made to be exactly like WSR in HD with no extra challenges than it would be just that. Nintendo's design of the game was not limited by tech as far as making it more challenging. They made it to be a more pick up and play arcade game with a medium challenge. Both games start off easy and get harder. Also flicks wont work in either game against a skilled player or in the higher levels. I've seen it tried in both game and it just stops working faster in SC.

Some find COD Reflex to be a deeper experience even though it is not on better tech. I have a deeper and challenging experience on some SNES game to many modern games.
Nothing cheap has to be done . The Wii has already showed how the controls can change the design of the game by having enemies cause more damage or giving the player less amo.

The Move does allow for better controls but I don't see how porting RE4 to it will cause the game to become a deeper experience. It just improves the controls, which can offer a better playing experience. The design of the game determines how deep that experience is.

It's not really about the flaw in the motion controls, the Wii's control scheme only takes a very general abstract cut of the real player's actions -- that's why a wrist flick works. PS3's game design for the Move titles replicates 1:1, giving players a lot more precision.

This means that wrist flicks can't pass anymore, and that there is more real depth to master.

Better precision is always good, but it just didn't help me enjoy SC more than WSR. I can tell the tech is better and it wasn't the increased challenge that turned me off. I haven't played Tiger Woods using it though. I may enjoy that game more. Also wrist flicks don't work well in every Wii game. It does not cut it if the game dev does not allow it to.

I don't have a problem with Move.I guess I just wanted a different experience than better motion controls. Motion controls are old hat to me now I suppose. Move works better and that is great. Now I'm waiting for something different.

Now games with more pointer controls I can do. There are not nearly enough of those yet.

Play Sports Champions first and then ask that question.
There is no reason ever why anyone should buy Racquet Sports. Especially when such a better alternative exists.

Start The Party can be recommended to the party-gamers :)
It does look relatively fun for a party, but there doesn't seem to be much content. 9 games and they're really simple and short, by the looks of things. I've a feeling it'll drop in price fairly quickly though, so I might pick it up at some point.

it looks like that the over all perception of Move is very positive. I think for devices like Move and Kinect the word of mouth is actually more important then the marketing campaign. If this mood keeps on going, Move could be a quite big success for Sony.

One of the biggest advantages Move has is that it will have a steady stream of content that will support it throughout the PS3's lifespan and games can introduce it as an option rather than a requirement.

Kinect software for the most part has to be exclusively developed ground up for Kinect.

Just want to know if table tennis in Sports Champions accomodates people who normally play with the paddle held penhold style. WSR table tennis by design only allows the right side of the paddle to face the table when doing backhand from the left side of the table. I've been waiting for a table tennis game that has this feature so I'm wondering if SC is the one.

Yes it does.

My main issue though with the Move controller so far is it doesn't seem to work as well as a Wiimote in terms of being a 'virtual laser pointer' and the dot of the pointer being the cursor which is why I'm doubting how well it will work for shooting games, something just doesn't feel right, everything else though feels great and very precise.
It does work just as good in The Shoot, because there's no or very little added motion interpolation. From what I've read, Dead Space game will have that same sensitivity level. Plenty other cursor implementations in Move games have some interpolation added and they feel laggier, but the Shoot is just right.

Every time I play the table tennis demo I like it more. The control is so accurate, I didn't expect it to let me backhand the ball in the opposite direction with such precission.

I, unfortunately, picked up Racquet Sports.

DO. NOT. MAKE. THE. SAME. MISTAKE!
Didn't you see the Ubisoft logo on the cover? What was their reputation with Wii shovelware? Your own fault. :lol

2.Tumble
3.Flight contol
4.RUSE

What else do you guys recommend PS move owners to get?

Most certainly the first two. Since many people may be getting the bundle deal an extra 10 bucks for tumble is a steal. I cannot recommend HVB yet because I havent seen the implimentation of it but that will most likely be up there too.

Games to get!
1.Sports Champions
2.Tumble
3.Flight contort
4.RUSE
5.RE5gold
6.HeavyRain
7.Start the Party
8.The Shoot
9.EyePet

Added The Shoot lots of praise on that game as well.

Games to avoid!
1.Racquet Sports
2.Kung Fu Rider * though some people seems to like it*

Tumble is amazingly accurate.

I was kind of shocked at how accurate I was able to arrange the blocks and "squeeze" them in to fit in odd places.

Try tumble on a 3d tv if you can. It is mindblowing. It sold me on a 3d tv actually.

Raquet Sports is awful, no precision at all, just weak gesture based movement. Play table tennis in SC and never look back :)

Tried a few more demos and a bit more SC:

The Shoot -- The pointer is implemented really well here. Motion of the reticle is smooth, fast, and allows for good accuracy. Re-centering the reticle, if needed, is done via the circle button (similar to how the d-pad re-centers the sword in WSR). Very easy to do. The game itself is OK but bland. The super powered shots add some variety but in the end its still just shooting wooden cutouts as they scroll across (or towards) the screen. It works but I wasn't really feeling it.

Tumble -- It's pretty good. The motion control, while not 100% perfect, does work well enough for a 1:1 block stacking game. The destruction bits remind me of Boom Blox except the goal is to set up mines rather than throw a ball into the tower. The last challenge, creating a tower with a hole at the top, was too difficult for me. I might try again later, but it was pretty frustrating.

Time Crisis: RS -- It works, but the reticle is nowhere near as smooth as The Shoot, and the framerate seems a little jumpy. Hopefully Namco smooths out the technical problems before release.

Sports Champions: Archery -- It reminds me of a cross between Link's Crossbow Training (with the melons, forest areas, and moving targets) and WSR archery. The controls are based around pointing (like LCT) and zooming while the drawing the arrow (like WSR). I'm a little surprised that it controls the way it does given how Kevin Butler is holding the motion controller like a bow in all the ads. In any case, the archery in SC is fun and and includes some good competitive ideas like Tic-Tac-Toe (9 archery boards arranged in a square).

It's worth noting that Flight Control, Tumble, and EyePet all look great in 3D and the effect really does enhance the experience in each of those.

I'd definitely recommend:

  • Sports Championship - Beach volleyball, table tennis, and the sword fighting game are very fun whereas Bocce is much more relaxing.

  • Tumble - Fun little game.

  • Start the Party - Casual fun, the demo was awesome especially the painting part.

I won't recommend:

  • Time Crisis: Razing Storm - It's interesting that this game sold me on the Move but after playing the demo... I couldn't even calibrate my controller properly.

Anticipated for:

  • Sorcery
  • Virtua Tennis 4
  • No More Heroes

Looking at the amazon page for separate move controllers and under images they have multiple colors, what are the odds an uniformed person thinks you can buy different colored moves?

Very high.

Yes, yes, yes! I three stared bronze, silver and gold in table tennis. Ughh, now Champion cup awaits. I fear the difficulty of this. -_-

I just wish there was a way to cycle between move colors. It can display every color in the spectrum yet it keeps defaulting to a gay pink color everytime :(

Maybe we should make the Sports Championship OT? I can volunteer though... That is if its ok with you guys. :P

but what if i get both sports champions and raquete sports, cuz i love tennis and there is no other game for tennis, except table tennis on sports champions right

Judging from the reactions I would rent it first to ensure you want to spend the money, but hey its your cash :)

Move and 3DTV were pretty much a match made in heaven for some games.
Being able to reach "into the TV" is simply amazing.

I was kind of hoping to hold off on upgrading the TV till next year. I wanted to jump in with the 2nd generation 3DTV.

lol, I'm in archery champion cup and it's extremely difficult. Im about 6/10 done, but I did complete the quickshot one, which imo is the hardest to do.
