Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

Had no intention of buying this (own a Wii) until I walked in to a Best Buy and played Sports Champions table tennis. Walked out with a starter bundle and extra Move controller. Can't wait until PS3 PES implements Move controls.

Sports Champions gets my vote! The depth in the table tennis on silver cup and above is just brilliant. Anyone finding it too hard should really try to adjust their shots and learn from their mistakes, because this game will reward you with practice. Outstanding really. Sony needs to make a sequel to this product with new events ASAP.

Just ordered two move controllers with Sports Champions because of this thread. With the 20DOWN coupon at Gamestop.com I got $20 off.

I can only imagine the amount of people that will try to play SC table tennis by flapping at the ball like they're holding a paddle, the video of the kid and his dad in this thread is annoying to watch.

Bowling on my mates Wii, he kept laughing at me because i couldnt help but go down onto one knee.:lol

Next, you'll tell me I need a TV to play video games and electricity in my house!

You can go down the line as far as you want to, but the fact is if you don't have a Playstation 3 already, that's kind of your problem. The bundle is very well priced for all that it includes, and the controller bundle (at least in the US) does come with Sports Champions.

You can extrapolate all kinds of situations based on the experience a person might WANT, but all they NEED at the moment is a PS3, ONE Move controller, a PS Eye, and a game. Three of those things come in the software bundle, and the fourth comes in the hardware bundle.

And this sort of "well, it's just like the Wii..." argument is really selling the games and the technology short. Move *is* far ahead of what the Wii is currently capable of.

In fact, it is exactly where I expected the Wii HD to be...

Congrats. I don't think you'll regret it. SC as myself and others have said is a sweet little package if you take the time to learn it.

Wii won't let me do this :P

Thats awesome. I'm really looking forward to videos of people who make an ace drawing while making some excellent sounds/music.

I'm not that good.

it looks like that the over all perception of Move is very positive. I think for devices like Move and Kinect the word of mouth is actually more important then the marketing campaign. If this mood keeps on going, Move could be a quite big success for Sony.

I thought the same until I decided to let it go and play SC like the real sports. You will be able to see the differences aftervthat.

Quoting myself: "The best way to play TT is to believe you are playing the real thing"

Seriously calibrating on the motion+ easier seriously??? Having to put the fucking thing down on a flat surface like every other minute vs the calibrate once and play of the move??? really??? really????

I do genuinely find it easier just placing it down on the coffee table for a few seconds rather than than doing an aerobics routine yes.

My main issue though with the Move controller so far is it doesn't seem to work as well as a Wiimote in terms of being a 'virtual laser pointer' and the dot of the pointer being the cursor which is why I'm doubting how well it will work for shooting games, something just doesn't feel right, everything else though feels great and very precise.

I caved lol. Went to Asda and got two controllers, Sports Champions and Start the Party. £105.

Literally just moved my whole room around...looks a bit odd now...and not sure what I'll do if I want a normal, late at night relaxing game session. But I can work out with Move at least! ha:lol

The Wii has an actual tablet peripheral releasing this fall :p
I had to look this up - I just couldn't believe it.

This may be one of the most ridiculous periphals I have ever seen. This is coming from someone who proudly owns a plunger gun.

At first I disagreed with the idea the game gets better. Well I was definitely wrong. When you get to silver something definitely switches, because you actually have to move around. If it's in front of the night you have to run up to get it, if it's off the edge you have to step back. It feels very authentic and there's still alot for me to learn.

How do you guys go about getting curves, from left to right and vice versa? I can put top spin and back spin, but I have trouble getting left and right.

This is what sony needs to get out there, and let people try it for themselves. Most people I've talked to don't even know what the move is :(.

Is Tiger Woods gimped in the sense that you can't use all the controls with solely the Move controller?

Just read a brutal review saying that the PS Move can't apply any additional power, spin, etc

Was going to buy this game but if I'm going to have to make all my pre-shot/post-shot adjustments with my controller, might be a no-buy.

About the pointing, is it really all done through the motion and not tracking with the eye? I was covering the ball up when playing The Shoot and the aiming was still working perfectly. Maybe I wasn't covering it up well enough, but if that is the case, it is really impressive. I thought the pointing in The Shoot felt better than in most wii games. Makes me wonder of the Wii remote+motion plus can also do that level of pointing without needing the sensor bar or something tracking the controller. The only game I can think of that does it (other than Zelda SS) is Wii Sports Resort archery.

Right now I think the biggest problem is the inconsistencies between games. Calibration screens, menu controls, the feel of pointing, etc. can be radically different between games. Some of them have you navigate the menu using the hold trigger and drag method the XMB uses while other use pointing. On the wii, it was mostly just point to and press the option. Just in terms of how simple it is to setup and use, you can really see how Nintendo succeeded where Move hasn't yet. But after you spend time with Move and get used to the quirks, you see how much more impressive the tech is. Sports Champions on higher difficulties really show off the potential. I just hope there is software that makes good use of that potential.

the other issue I have with table tennis is that I barely need to touch the ball for it to fly across the screen. If I had to guess, it is because I'm not that far away from my TV and the game assumes I'm reaching over the table.

Don't... If you played Tiger Woods on the wii, you'd know EA half-asses motion controls.

Wait to see how John Daly's Prostroke Golf turns out. The QL at Giantbomb made it seem the move controls were very well implemented. Hopefully a demo of it comes out soon.

From playing it, it definitely seems that way :-/.

I only bought my Move controller on Friday, and bought Tumble to use with it. It was really great, but it was such a great proof of concept for the controller that I wanted to do more with it.

I got Sports Champions this morning after reading the impressions around here, and it's really, really great. I think I might have to get a second controller for Gladiator/Archery (Plus multiplayer opportunities).

Very very happy with a product I was very down on after it's original announcement.

I HATE HATE HATE HATE having to find something to place that god damn controller on. Ugh. If anything it just shows the limitations of the motion+

Did anyone beat Kenji in Table Tennis on Gold Championship? What tactic did you use? I am finding myself entering the hand flicking mad duel with him, which is so exhausting, and it doesn't warrant a win. (The spinning duel didn't prove successful as well.) When I am cornered to the left, there is no chance to flip to backhand, and then I try some crazy bended forehand, which sometimes saves me, but most of the time I miss the table just by couple of centimeters. I am getting crazy with this. And my arm hurts terribly. :( This game is sooo good. :p

Really happy with the impressions, at least tech wise it's solid. There is nothing at present which is compelling me to buy a move so won't get it right now however when Killzone 3 releases it and the Move will be instant purchases.

These peripherals don't ever really drop in price right? The headset and DS3 I purchased well over a year ago now and the same price so don't see the Move dropping in price for a very long time if ever. I've also found that first party Sony titles here in the UK don't drop price quickly but 3rd parties do within a week no matter how popular they are. I'm asking due to being a cheap arse with hope that the move starter pack will drop £10 by Feb 2011 but don't see that happening.

£40 right now at Amazon is not bad at all plus £18 for the nav, I'm actually worried the price will go up. :/

I bought tumble last night. It is absolutely wonderful. Its a ton of fun with 2 controllers too. I use 1 for a camera and am trying to learn how to stack with both of them effectively in the time trials. However, my dexterity just isnt that good yet but I can see how having both controllers will really help in the long run.

High Velocity Bowling has really drab overall visuals and the nastiest looking menus in any PSN game but the game part is really damn solid. Great fun.

So I sold my Wii and all the junk I had accumulated for it and upgraded to a Move... loving it so far. I actually feel like i ripped them off, or stole something. The technology powering it seems so much more advanced. It feels completely natural and much more fluid compared to the Wii. I was able to jump right in to ping pong without a problem. Love the bocce ball as well.

The only issue I had was with the eyetoy pet game. The resolution of the camera is ridiculously bad, but thats not too big of a deal since it seems like more of an added bonus than anything. The problem I had was the game would not calibrate properly. It refused to accept that I was touching the floor. I finally got it to work by holding it in a different location but the pet would not react to any of my movements, game seemed broken. Im a pretty tech savy guy, if I cant figure out how to get it running I can only imagine how bad it will be for the average joe.

Overall its well worth the money. Glad sony got the supply out there, I was able to walk in and pick one up without a preorder. Seems every bestbuy in my area still has them in stock as well.

ds Emulation with that thing would be great. wont happen though. at least THQ says they have a deal with nintendo and some nintendo first party titles will be made for this (dunno if true though.)

so what's stopping you? Its already out.

Just want to know if table tennis in Sports Champions accomodates people who normally play with the paddle held penhold style. WSR table tennis by design only allows the right side of the paddle to face the table when doing backhand from the left side of the table. I've been waiting for a table tennis game that has this feature so I'm wondering if SC is the one.

Well, I finally got a Move controller. I have firmware 3.41, waiting to get a PSJailbreak clone in maybe a couple of days.

Is there any official (without PSJailbreaking the console) way to get Move demos and MAG Beta under that conditions? (like downloading them from PC and copy to the console using a USB). Because if not I think I'll have to wait the PSJailbreak clone, and I would like to use it before.

I also would be also interested in Heavy Rain, Flower, High Velocity Bowling patches. But as I remember they aren't released and I doubt they can be downloaded from PC and installed from USB.

Forgot to ask how's the Move implementation on this?

It's difficult to understand why they haven't made a demo.

You can make a preview to see a video and look all the nastiest looking menus, but they don't allow to test the better part, the gameplay.

Bocce > bowling. There, I said it.
Agreed. Especially for multiplayer. Having the ability to totally bone your opponent by knocking their ball out of position makes for some excellent, shoulder-punching moments.

So lets make a recommendation list!

1.Sports Champions
2.Tumble
3.Flight contol
4.RUSE

What else do you guys recommend PS move owners to get?
