Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

Indeed. I was nit-picking and got some things wrong, but I still don't see how it isn't a valid comparison. The level of accuracy between the games was clear.

To be perfectly honest, if he was returning the serves in Wii Sports Resort, it would be even funnier. Dude could have a Coke and just waggle his left hand.

I just came in here to say that Table Tennis is _awesome_. The precision really feels great. I've played a lot of table tennis, used to compete as a kid, and I didn't miss a single practice shot (well, except the blocks, I missed a couple). I love the PS Move when implemented like in Table Tennis. They better not screw up the next Top Spin and Virtua Tennis with their move implementation!

Actually looking forward to that Wizard Apprentice game, looked to have good ideas.

Loving it! Oh and my gamestop was pretty much sold out. All the single moves were sold out, and they only had a couple of the $99 packs left.

Picked up my Move from Best Buy and have been playing it non-stop.

The hardware is excellent and sports champions is a winner. It's everything I envisioned with the Wii controller when it was first announced, only to be saddened when I played it and realized it didn't really live up to its promise.

I honestly can't find a Sports Champions game I dislike, they're all very good.

I picked it up mostly for hardcore games that will have pointer controls. After messing around with it, I'm very convinced that it has the ability to easily beat out a DS3 for players in a FPS. It's simply much easier to aim.

Shit I didnt expect this much positive impressions for Move. Im glad its not a total failure, really interested in trying it out now. Jeez Sony, I didn't even know it came out today until....today.

Just had two player two move-apiece action...we ended up playing table tennis for most of the night. Hah, so much for that! At least I'll get some use out of all four with The Fight.

There is definitely something wrong with the Archery game though...we played some multiplayer and my controller got so wacky after a few rounds that I had to recalibrate (I had to point on the far right of the screen just to center my aim at one point).

Hoo boy, I'm gonna feel the pain tomorrow. :lol

FLIGHT CONTROL HD IMPRESSIONS

so just bought this and played 2 levels. I loved the iphone version - thought the Ipad version was a bit to big (in terms of its map) and diluted the gameplay. This is essentially the iphone version played with waggle.

Visuals are the same but 1080p and looks simple and sharp. Gameplay, the lines drawn hooked into the landing spots much much more easily and its the same old FC game. you click circle and it doubles the speed.

This is very sit down and playish. Controls really really well.

BUG COMMENT pretty sure its a bug and it annoyed me a bit. The music would stop playing after awhile and not kick back in. Then you're left playing the game with no tunes.

OK, so I wasnt that impressed with the move for a couple hours after getting it but holy shit have I come into my own.

Table tennis is the fucking best. Moving up on the net just by moving forward? yes please. Oh and the accuracy and and spin is amazing, just incredible. I am starting to think that Kinect + Move= ultimate motion gaming.

Oh and gladiator duel is this ish... so much fun. I have no idea why it got so much hate.

Bocce is awesome too. Loved playing that game. Cant wait for HVB to get patched now.

The only game I kinda dont like yet is archery. Disc golf is just "ok" too.

I think its safe to say that I was pretty hyped for the Move launch and I can also safely say that I am satisfied with the purchace. Great hardware and some really awesome showcases of the technology. I in no way thought that I would like SC but I really do. I bought Sports Resort and this game simply blows it out of the water. I think its the accuracy but Sports Resort felt completely gesture based but these games dont.

Oh well, enough of my shootin my load all over the computer screen; time for some sleep.

First impressions. Disappointed after wanting this thing since it's first showing.

Came back tonight after beating Halo Reach and decided to pop in SC instead of playing the demo disc and I love it. Just as much fun as my Wii. I could really see myself picking up games for Move over the Wii now as long as they are ported over correctly and not tacked on waggle controls. Archery was always my favorite in Resorts, and now it's my favorite here.

I've heard some talk about the Move being best played in a larger space, a living room or rec room. Is this true? My PS3 is in my bedroom, and it's not the largest space in which to move freely. It's no Gahiggidy's lair, but still kinda small.

Cool, thanks. In order to get the camera straightened, though, I had to apply some tape to the cord in the back, but no biggie.

I'm 6'4 and had a hell of a time last night with it when I first bought it... thought the thing was trash. Had it below my TV pointing up.

Went today and got the clip from Best Buy for the top of the TV... played for around 3 hours. :D

Biiiiig difference.

Right now, using the tip from that video, this is how it looks:

http://i52.tinypic.com/zvqxrb.jpg

Because of my bed, this is the furthest I can be when facing the TV right in the center, so my face is cut off.

Is it important to be facing the camera in the center? For Wii games where I'm standing up, I normally stand on the left or right of my bed.

And is it even necessary to stand at all? I was hoping to use the Move controller while sitting on my bed, maximizing the distance from it and the TV.

Is it possible for us Yanks to buy Flight Control in any way?

1) Create UK PSN account. This should be easy to figure out.
2) Buy UK PSN card from eBay, or Maximus Cards (mentioned in recent thread), or xboxliveuk76 (previously recommended in the Singstar thread, I buy my cards from them).
3) Redeem UK PSN card using UK PSN account.
4) Go to the store and buy Flight Control, download it.
5) Sign back into your US PSN account and draw paths for planes until you puke.

I don't know what to tell you. I had couldnt trigger the one supermove in The Shoot no matter how hard I tried and Time Crisis took me forever to calibrate and felt terrible when I finally got it done.

Sports Champion didn't give me any trouble, but I felt like it wasn't any better than Wii Sports Resort. I'm not saying my word is gospel, but it is my opinion.
I still want Flight Control to come here. :[

If you are talking about liking the game then yes it is your opinion but saying that it is less accurate than the wiimote is plain rediculous. Sit down with it longer, I was disappointed in it for the first couple of hours until i realized that it wasnt gesture based but actually mapping my movements.

I am sore as hell after an evening of Move. First I did my P90X shoulders and arms workout, then my sister and her kids came over so I challenged my nephew to gladiator duels. We ended up playing that for several hours, got some disc golf and bocce ball in as well. Everyone in the family was very pleased with how the thing worked. The kids didn't have any problems using it, in fact my nephew (who is 10) asked me if I was going to sell my Wii now because "there is no use for it anymore" :lol Now I need a break because my body doesn't want to move anymore.

Alright I got my Move today...I'm really having a hard time enjoying this. I downloaded EyePet, Racquet Sports and the Tumble demo off PSN(That's it). All the games felt way to damn stiff and in eyepet when I tried to reach the outer edges of the screen, I had to contort myself awakwardly to reach it. Not to mention that all the demos were Wii like garbage and the one game that was "hardcore" and I had been looking forward to was RE5<----This thing was utter garbage. You use the Move to aim, shoot, reload etc and it's kind of nice but again feels stiff. But you have to use your dualshock(I didn't buy the Nav) to move and it's just a mess to use ergonomically. Maybe if RE5 allowed you to move while shooting it'd make sense?

I dunno, feels like a waste of $50 right now. I'm sorely disappointed by RE5 especially because I thought that would be the saving grace, I guess these patch jobs aren't going to cut it because they weren't designed around the controller. Honestly I switched back to the Dualshock right away and was shooting up zombays, swiftly and more importantly...enjoying it.

I'll wait for Killzone 3 atleast and then try again. But right now I'm not seeing where these claims of "better than the wiimote" and "quick" are coming from. I actually prefer the Wiimotes jitteriness compared to this.

The controller itself feels good though and is very nice to hold. However button placement is off and it makes it slightly confusing initially to press what you want. They should have made it easier to transiton from Dualshock to Move. Lights are cool and my younger brother loved it but got frustrated with eyepet since it asks you to use the move and your hands on and off way too much.

The only game that anyone liked was racquet sports and even then while it looked great. it didn't play any differently from Wii sports/tennis.

I really don't give a damn about uprezzed Wii games and party games. When I went to the store all I saw was Start the party, Eyepet and SportsChampions(bundle). Is that what Sony calls a launch lineup? There is nothing here for those of us who like the Uncharted's, Killzone's and the like. I really expected more from this...Sorcery should have been a launch title to balance things out.

All in all I'm not sure who Sony is trying to market this to. The PS base is built on heart pumping action games and in that sense it does not deliver at all. No parent will look at a Wii and Move RIGHT NOW and say "Lets get the PS3". Down the road? Maybe when some dad goes to pick up a system and sees Start the party along with Killzone 3 he'll go for the PS3 intead. But right now, there is absolutely no way any parent or casual will go for the PS3.

6/10. good hardware, terrible software. Seems SCE didn't learn the lesson yet that compelling software moves hardware.

If anyone can send me any recommendations for demos, software that I haven't tried yet and or explain why the controller movements feel so stiff. Please let me know.

oh I didn't say I prefer the iphone version over PSN. over the ipad version for sure.

Played all the maps now. The tokyo one where the thing is zoomed out and it gets late is awesome. Its a different beast. One's on a tiny screen and you play with touch, this is with motion controlled - drawn onscreen directional lines.

I wish I had a stereoscopic tv now. Btw this, tumble and the ridgeracer7 "patch" and forthcoming titles, I kind of wish I could play this in 3D too. :P

I'm getting my Move bundle today. My PS3 is a JP/Asian model, I buy US/Asian games most of the time, and my Move bundle is a EU one. I'm not a fan of DLC. So I'm guessing that's ok, right?

So you played several demos, C'mon Son stop that BS and go pick up a complete game. Go pick up sports champions and give yourself time to learn 1:1 and how to MOVE i.e. Table Tennis, Gladiator Duel ect...

actually I have no problems with the button layout. in gladiator, you basically can strafe/dodge left righ with the top two buttons and it works a treat.

also I don't know what you mean by stiff controls. Using dualshock to control chris with a move wand is never going to be ideal. If you wanted to play that game, you'd have bought a nav controller.

LOVE this thing! It's a such a nice and solid piece of hardware and works so really great. A lot of stuff I tried I didn't like as a game, but it proves without shadow of doubt how capable this controller is.

I only played demos, but two things I liked the best were Table Tennis and Shoot. Table tennis is seriously amazing and feels like playing the real thing in every conceivable way. This was what I originally imagined Wii sport games would be like, and is practically an order of magnitude better realized than table tennis games on it.

The Shoot is mindless fun and looks only so-so, but it again proves without doubt how good Move can work as a point and shoot device. I was racking up perfect shots from the moment I started the demo, and it was so fast and seamless that I reminded myself of that guy playing Duck Hunt in Youtube video. You know the video. Just the efficacy of shooting alone made this demo fun, and now that I've seen how well this kind of thing works, I absolutely can't wait to get my hands on Dead Space Extraction. If the shoot is offered on PSN for $10-$20 I'll buy it too for sure. Something to note about The Shoot that made me happy - there was no perceivable lag at all. There was a sensitivity slider though, that would make cursor more stable for people with shaky hands, but it introduced lag when I tried moving that slider all the way to the opposite position. I much preferred it with no lag at its default position.

Onto other demos:

Echochrome 2 is generally fun puzzler, much better and more fun concept than the first one. Flashlight movements worked very well but I noticed that I had to recalibrate at the beginning of each level, because the flashlight would default to an angle that was not good for me due to my off-center seating from the TV.

Tumble seems like a mundane game but as a tech demo it shows the level of 1:1 control this thing has and it's very impressive. Every movement is mapped so perfectly it's uncanny. This one was definitely losing calibration during gameplay though, drifting to the right from what I've noticed. I guess I'll have to try this games while seated in the middle of TV, but I thought it was strange that the game offered option to re-center calibration at any moment by pressing O button. It's as if developers knew it was going to be constantly needed. I guess for that reason I didn't mind it as much as I could reset it so easily, but still it left a bit of a bad impression.

Disc Throwing in Sport Champions demo was boring and while working as well as table tennis on a technical level, it was nowhere near as fun, so I didn't play it much.

Start the Party and Heavy Rain demos are downloading now. Can't wait to see how this will work in a 'big' game like Heavy Rain, where I get to use navi controller as well.

I'll be honest, the thread is too long for my too go back and check to see if this has been posted before, but Amazon has a really useful compatibility chart for all the games that use Move, it is worth a look: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.ht...d_t=101&pf_rd_p=1275616742&pf_rd_i=2310631011

Mock if old i guess :p
well it's pretty much outlined in the OP, but your link is a little more in-depth, thanks

edit: just won the bronze trophy for frisbee golf :D

PS eye is such a shit camera for taking pictures for the victory poses, or is it my lighting?
I love the Gladiator Duel Augmented reality picture of you with a shield and weapon. Beat Sketchers in the demo takes a pic of what you drew and sends it to the photo section.

Well, some of us don't have any other choice.

Also, to the guy who had the bad experience with Move tonight after playing demos and RE5: like everyone said, the software to own right now is Sports Champions.

I think the lighting has a huge impact on the camera, the quality looked much better when the sun was out for me.

Yes, the lighting needs to be just right, unfortunately. Otherwise it looks very grainy.

Also, and I forgot to mention this before. Did anyone else notice that in the Tiger Woods demo it gives you the option to unlock the full game? I clicked just to check it out and sure enough, there was an option to buy for $59.99. Never knew they had games like that online aside from the few they introduced with PS+ like Infamous and LBP.

Did they ever give an official reason why they changed the layout, besides just to accommodate that big ass center button? Surely there must've been some way to keep the diamond formation And put a larger button in the middle.

Sorry if this has been answered before - I've only been intermittently following this Move stuff.

Mizuguchi is officially insane if he doesn't add Move support to Child of Eden. When the silly little Shoot demo can work so perfectly and precisely, and with no lag, watching him flail his arms around with half a second lag in kinect demonstrations just makes me sad.

Come on Miz, you know you want to make that sphere change colors in a pattern that will give us all an epileptic seizure.

Hi?

I was wondering if you could use the MOVE navigation controller for non-MOVE games.

I ask because I used to have a one-handed PS1 controller by ASCII that was great for playing RPGs. Seeing the navigation controller made me wonder if it could used in a similar way.

Thanks GAF!

PS sorry if this has been answered already

So no one's pointer controls are immediately uncalibrating or drifting in The Shoot and Time Crisis? I'm have to dig the Amazon box out the trash and send this piece of junk back.

Got to spend about 5 hours with Move tonight.

It's ok. I am not easily fooled into hype so I sort of came into it with no real positive or negative spin and just wanted to see what is offered as I love tech and love games.

What is offered is ok both hardware and software. Its not special at all except for its higher sensitivity and the games do indeed need to bake far longer. And you can indeed run into camera issues which we found out during the day but died out as it got darker. I was surprised how easily the camera messed up with the normal room lighting. But I admit it was pretty bright and we had to close the shades and get it a bit dim.

Games-
Table tennis is fun but nothing I didn't experience on the Wii aside from the improved sensitivity which made the shots easier and that was cool. Had the same calibration errors others posted which was sad because it seems pretty widespread so you would have assumed they would have figured that out.

Gladiator was ok. Sort of well really boring but a good idea for a real game.
Archery and disk golf were both really lackluster and left us wonder why they were even there. It was like a warning of what games should NOT have.

Golf didn't do anything for me. It was the same game I had played tons of other times and the motion sensing didn't offer something that Wii didn't offer. It's just golf and it plays fine.

It was a Goldilocks night. The friend who got it, did not like it at all. I thought it was ok, his daughter loved archery but hated everything else.

Interesting but I will most definitely wait to see if they fix the glitches people are having, the light issues, and bring out some actual games worth buying and extra item just to play.

So we came up with Hardware 6
Games 4

I will pass for now.

Like any camera, lighting is a HUGE part of the quality. The lower light, the higher the ISO, the more noise (and the shittier the picture). If you have more light, it doesn't have to crank up the ISO so the image quality will be much better.

Good to hear good impressions, overall. I'll probably pick this up next pay period in a couple weeks. I'm much more interesting in using the Wave with games like LBP and KZ3 but I look forward to trying Sports Champion as well after playing a lot of Wii Sports. As much as I enjoy Wii Sports Resorts, most of the games outside of bowling/frisbee/golf can be mastered with in an hour or so once you find the correct gestures to make. I hope that Move + Sports Champion will take it to the next level and make me feel like I'm really playing a virtual rendition of the game.

Went looking tonight. Best Buy was sold out of everything except for 2 320gb bundles. Another store I went to (local megamart Fred Meyers) didn't even have them in yet. Hope they get them tomorrow as they have a 15% off coupon. I could buy the $99 package for $85 and then sell the extra camera I don't need and come out of the whole thing pretty good I would think. That or buy a single controller. If I can't buy it tomorrow though :(

Gladiator is so much fun. Definitely the star app here, I think. I love how you really need to put power into your attacks to ramp up the damage.
