Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

MrPliskin said:
It's a deluxe version. It contains all of the DLC characters, balls, trick packs, or whatever else they put out. All of the DLC roughly totals to around $40.

In Europe, the patch for Move is already available.

And I didn't check all the DLC of HVB, but an extra 30$ don't seem a good deal. Most of the DLC is crap, only characters or balls, a lot of set of balls. There aren't real good DLC like new game modes or other features that enhance the lifetime of the game.

Didn't someone tally it all up and it would only cost $36.xx on PSN? I guess for the extra money you get a disc/case/manual but you lose the convenience of having the game on the HDD.

I'm confused....is High Velocity Bowling getting a patch here, or are they seriously going to charge $40 for a $10 game?

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0040546HO/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Amazon lists it as coming out tuesday on disk. Is this the same $10 game on psn that the rest of the world got patched for free and psn + owners supposedly get patched free too? Or is this some superduper "deluxe" version?

Hmm, I came out of the best buy demo store not very interested. The lag/responsiveness was horrid. I mean, I only played Table Tennis, but when the ball moves pretty fast and I move my paddle to position where I want to hit it, it seems to trail behind and I "accidentally" hit the ball off the table.

This was on one of those new Samsung LED TV's so, i'm going to guess game mode wasn't turned on, but I must say the graphics blow the Wii WAY out of the water (just look at frisbee golf).

Hopefully I can find another demo/station before I totally dismiss it.

Anyone know what firmware the bundle comes with?
Very strange. There is nearly zero lag in Table Tennis, so it was definitely the fault of the TV.

I didn't look at the Move much before this week because I didn't want to buy it at release. That Dspgaming vid linked earlier though got me really interested and I started to look at more and more vids/reviews which led me to buying it today. Fuuuu, I didn't plan on it at all but the wand is charging right now and can't wait to play Sports champion. I picked up the 100 dollar package since I didn't have the camera. Gonna talk my bro into buying another controller so I can try the dual controller/multiplayer but can't wait to start playing tonight.

Checked and it's 38€, in europe 30 DLC of 99 cents. 13 characters and 17 sets of balls, plus the 7'99 of the game.

Kinda curious how you think Sony should handle its controller next-gen on the PS4.

IMHO, PS4 should be a system designed around PS3 backwards compatibility, including peripherals like the DS3 and PS Move, but that doesn't mean they have to stick to the same Playstation Move controller they have now.

Personally I would upgrade the camera to at least 720p with flash capabilities.

Given the extra resolution they could probably stand to make the orb a bit smaller, but this isn't really necessary. The orb as it is a nice design, gives the move a very distinctive look.

I wish there would be a way to make the nav controller unnecessary...simply using two of the same move controllers for both hands, but I'm a bit puzzled at how they'd handle having an analog stick on the controller, so maybe a nav controller is necessary.

I'm sure there would be other upgrades, like better gyros and accelerometers (maybe not), but otherwise if I were Sony I'd just upgrade the Move slightly with better components and pack that in as standard with every PS4.

The console bundle has 3.41 installed.

Either that or the environment. One gripe I have about the move is that it can be a bitch in the wrong lighting conditions. It isnt unbearable by any means but if the sun is shining behind you and hitting the floor it can have a hard time picking it up.

So if I want to play Gladiator duel with a friend, will I need 4 move controllers in total (2 for shield and sword for me and 2 for him?)? How does multiplayer work?

I would actually prefer they not bump up the resolution, and instead work on a better sensor that can better pick up light. Having a higher range for different lighting conditions would significantly improve the quality of the PS Eye, much much more than the resolution bump would.

One thing I'd love to see is a "touch" pad on the Move controller. Basically, make the move button double as a touch pad, so you can slide your finger forward and back for linear movement. I think it would work particularly well for games on rails, and could offer a lot of other interesting options for some games.

Just need two. It isnt as fun but it will do. You just hold down the T button to block.

* The Wii and PlayStation use different methods of locating their controllers. The Wii Remote has an infrared (IR) sensor built into the controller, and uses triangulation from the IR emitters on the sensor bar placed near the TV to locate itself. PlayStation Move, unlike the Wii, can locate the motion controller in 3D space. The PlayStation Eye camera visually recognizes the X/Y position as well as the relative size of the glowing sphere on the motion controller to pinpoint the controller's location.

* The Move contains many of components found in today's smartphones: a processor, accelerometer, gyroscope, Bluetooth transmitter, vibrating motor, and even a MEMS compass. It's an amazing amount of tech for the money, even though we still think it's steep to pay $50 for a controller. Compared to a $40 WiiMote, though, it's quite the bang for the buck.

* The sphere at the top of the Move lights up via LEDs inside the controller. The LEDs are capable of putting out any color, which makes it easy to differentiate between players. They can also change colors mid-game, creating another source of user feedback. The color of the orb also changes in response to its environment, ensuring optimal visibility and detection by the PlayStation Eye.

* The internal lithium-ion rechargeable battery lists a minimum capacity of 1320 mAh at 3.7 Volts. The battery gets brownie points for being able to be disconnected from the Move without any soldering. Just unplug the connector and plug the new one in.

* The vibrator motor lifts off, however it still remains connected to the motherboard. It's definitely smaller than the two vibrating motors stuffed into a Sony DualShock 3 Controller.

* The Move motherboard loses points on repairability due to the vibrator motor, LED, charge contacts, and EXT cables being soldered down.

* We were not able to identify the gyroscope manufacturer from a surface examination, but we suspect that it is the white-labeled part #Y5250H.

* As LEDs get warmer, their brightness decreases. Having a heat sink in the LED assembly not only keeps the LEDs at the optimal operating temperature, but also increases the longevity of the diodes. The clear plastic lens on the far left helps diffuse the light from the LEDs to light up the orb uniformly.

I have to admit, I have been reading a lot of positive feedback on the Move controller. I'm actually shocked. I thought too many people would have perceived it as a Wii knock off.

The only thing that is holding me back from purchasing the thing is a good bundle. I don't want to get the game with Sports Champions or Eye Pet (Best Buy exclusive bundle) because I'm not into sport minigame stuff or pet simulators.

Now, if they did a bundle with Time Crisis 4 or The Shoot. I guess I would change my mind :D

In case you haven't noticed, Move is getting the majority of positive feedback because of Sports Champions. Too bad your perception of SC is that it's just "sport minigame stuff". Check out the OT and see what you're missing. There's currently no better game to showcase the tech.

Just came home with RE5 Gold Edition, it was on sale at Best Buy for $29.99. Sale started today. I'll post impressions in a little bit. One small note, it has slightly new packaging which sports the Move functionality. Seems it already has the update included. Not that it matters that much.

I don't have the Navi controller, so it's Dual Shock 3 for me. Not sure how awkward it'll feel. This may prompt me to go out and get one if the DS3 feel too weird.

Damn, this is the same boat I'm in. I REALLY want a game that showcases the Move but not just minigames like in SC (I love SC BTW, it's not a knock) so I can really see this thing in action within a type of game I'll play for a while. I'm also contemplating the Nav if RE5:Gold is worth it.

really hope they end up upgrading the browser to include functionality for the Move controller. You can still use the Move controller right now in-browser, but it doesn't use it like a pointer. That's what I want...

Why isn't there a bundle with just the game and a move wand for around $60 or $70? that'd be great to push a lot of moves into people's hand, so people buy a second move games and got 2nd wand at the same time. I already have ps eye. now my option is to either buy a new starter bundle with another unused camera for $100, or buy the game and move separately for $90. =(

OH MY GOD. That was excellent. (RE5, I mean.) My accuracy went up BIG TIME. I was popping people in the head with ease. Not only that, but the control scheme seemed perfect. Incredibly intuitive. Every way you think the buttons should be mapped, they are. It's been awhile since I've played RE5, so I couldn't remember half the controls. I was just doing them. I'm sure most of them were the same as the regular control scheme, like quick turn, but it never felt awkward. It just felt right.

But having the green reticule is SO much better than the old laser pointer. And it worked with the Move flawlessly. I just wish I had a Navi. The Dual Shock works fine, even better than I expected, but having the weight of the right side of the controller doing nothing just serves as a reminder how much better it'd be with the Navi.

Anyway, I'm very impressed. It works incredibly well. I am happy.

Is there a patch for RE 5 or do you have to purchase the gold edition for Move support?
That would really suck for everyone who purchased the original game and all of the DLC...

Does it make the game likeable? I played the demo but hated the control schemes they had.

I think the art and music are pretty low-rent, and I've only played a few holes, but I do like it much more using the Move than when using the stick controls. I'm fairly sure it doesn't actually use the camera at all, it's just the "innards" of the Move that are doing all the work.

I believe the patch is free, but it only works with Gold. I don't think the hooks are in the original. (from what I've read in this thread and others - too lazy to link)

Because you're one of 5 people who owned a PSeye before now. You could always get the bundle and sell the camera ;D

My first instinct was to get the bundle and an extra move controller even though I already had an eye. It really depends on if you want an extra camera lying around though. The difference is like $10 if you were to just get a controller and a game anyways so for $10 extra having a spare camera might be worth it.

by now, I think anyone that are interested in ps eye camera are in it for the Move, and they got much better deal buying starter bundle.

Thanks for the answer.

I did some quick online research and only the Gold edition of RE5 supports move and that absolutely sucks considering I purchased most of the DLC... Also, Heavy Rain will recieve an update on the 22nd. I could not find anything specific regarding MLB 10 The Show, but I do remember hearing the game will support the Move.

I know, that's what I'm gonna do most likely. I was just so sure there's going to be a game + wand bundle. making it kinda like wii play (or wii sports?) where people joke that they're buying a wiimote and get free game instead of buying a game and get a wiimote:D

Can we get another review of Planet Minigolf Move? I was interested in this game right up until the demo's controls, don't want to waste cash if it's not really a standout game despite the new controls.

In the Gold edition of RE5, do you have to beat the single player campaign to unlock the dlc? All I see right now are question marks where the dlc like Lost on Nightmares should be.

NameIess said:
How did you play Heavy Rain with the move, because my game did not update for move support?

The update is scheduled for October 8th but there's a new demo available in the PSN-store (at least in Europe, haven't checked NA yet)

so do any of these early games make much use of the Nav controller? Does it have its own set of gyros/motion control or is it just a complement to the Move?

None of the games use the nav controller to my knowledge at least. And no, it has no gyro/motion of its own, it is strictly for extra inputs. Games such as Socom and Killzone will be using it in the future

I don't have Gold myself and bought the DLC after having completed the game, but I'm pretty sure you have to play up to the chapters that the DLC levels take place during to unlock them. So if my memory is correct, that should be 3-1 for LiN and 4-2 (?) for DE.

Several games use it, none of them require it.

I really don't understand why they put Start and Select where they did. Why not down with the PS button? Works on the Wiimote. As they are now, they're pretty much the worst placed buttons ever.

Other than that, though, I really like the way the controller feels. Much nicer than the Wiimote, actually. I think they could've done the face button layout a bit better, but overall it works well, and it's nice to have five buttons within reach instead of one button plus four others and a d-pad that require you to adjust your grip to reach comfortably.

Also the squishy ball is the best thing.

I have returned with another set of gameplay videos and impressions. This time it's for echochrome ii.

I absolutely love this game. Feels great, clever, and so very intriguing. Such a beautiful game. The first video in the link shows the tutorial mode. The second shows gameplay from all three levels. The tutorial might be a bit boring but it helps provide context to what the game is like.
